Cool game! got softlocked on Level10 tho.
This feels like playing a proper game, its incredibly well done, all the sounds, menus, items and even the save feature! The gameplay is pretty good, but tbh did get slightly less fun after a few levels.
Also the crafting feature is really nice, super clever!
I'm not a big fan of RPG Maker games, since many of them look pretty much the same. But I like the concept of searching for resources to slow down timer and skip levels. It would also be nice to be able to restart the room with the second challenge(maybe i didn't find the right button)
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I worked really hard to draw my own art and not use any default assets, it might not be super noticeable but I even made my own assets for things like the windows and the UI. I also don't like default RPG maker games, so I did my best with the time I had to not make it look like an RPG maker game. Reset button would be a good idea for this kind of thing, thanks!!
This is a cool game but there is this one bug that makes it possible for you to spawn on the yellow doorways which flashes the screen black again takes you to another room where you also have a chance to spawn on the doorway and repeat it. I also didn't know that there was crafting until I read the comments. Also, I think the fan at the start definitely does not need batteries and has an unplugged power cord lol. I also think a floor counter could help a lot as I kept forgetting which floor I was on. You did a great job on your game though! Congratulations.
Hi! Thank you for the comment, I'm trying really hard to figure out what is even going on with the weird flashing of doors. I didn't know how to make a visual floor counter in the corner (I might try to see what I can do before the update deadline), BUTTT I did add a pedometer in the Key Items where you can find what number of floor you are on! It was the best I could do with my ... current and lacking... understanding. And yes, I drew the power cord just for fun, it doesn't actually need batteries but *shrugs* I had fun with it anyway. I appreciate the feedback!!!
I think it was interesting. I felt myself rather engaged with running through the mines, blasting through rocks and such, although it became less so when the floors got as massive as they did. Ended up using items to freeze time for the rest of the game and blast my way through the last couple of floors.
I think there's a decently interesting idea here, but for me, the experience didn't feel grounded. There are a lot of loose mechanics that don't feel like they were made for each other, if that makes sense.
Apart from that, I find the sense of humor rather charming. The music is incredibly curious. Decided to check you two out on Spotify, and was not disappointed.
Good luck with the rest of the jam, and with your next project as well.
Didn't know there was crafting until I read the comments, which makes a lot more sense now. There so much content behind crafting that I think a lot of new players will never see! I think if you told the player how/why to craft it would be a lot easier to pick up. Otherwise its a fun game with nice visuals and music! The rock puzzles were engaging.
The crafting mechanic wasn't obvious to me at first (which was probably due to my laziness when it comes to reading descriptions), but once I got the hang of it, the risk / reward of staying on a floor to gather more resources really shone.
The music, I think was pretty nice! And also I didn't fail to notice the pokemon layout of it all, it made me nostalgic.
Throughout the game I was feeling very rushed by the timer (not a bad thing, just to be clear), but I think it would've helped if there was a floor counter somewhere near the timer
Thank you for catching the pokemon references! I really appreciate the feedback on the crafting mechanic!
As I went deeper, the game got a little glitchy. It would load a level, flash black, and then load a different level (sometimes a few times).
I personally didn't find the process of blowing up rocks and looking for stairs particularly engaging but I like the idea of delving deeper into the mines as fast as I can.
Maybe a bit of combat would spice it up?
I also think I got softlocked on the boulder puzzle (I couldn't push them out of the way)
Well done on making your second game! You should be proud.
