That fish got MAD UPS dawg!

Very cute game! Liked the use of the spinning mechanic. (Struggled with the precision jumping)

I really enjoyed the game its super fun fish platformer. I might not like the X to dash as much as I am on a 60% keyboard XD. Overall 10/10

Very Cool! Nice Work

but not having Coyote Time is frustrating

Awesome, loving the PICO power, fun and cute, very hard to play from mobile since jump is up instead of a button, a double sided move dash would solve this. Otherwise super awesome and I bow down to your Pico skills!

Not a bad game. I was able to reach the final stretch, but after 5 minutes of frustration I gave up. Trying to land the fish square between the two spikes is almost impossible. I did it once, but then immediately died after jumping.

very nice pico8 game, i love the pixel art its so cute. good job

A nice platformer video game. I was able to reach the final stretch part, and I had fun testing my reflexes. Also graphics are very cute. Good work! :3

I also made a fish related game in pico 8! this was super fun, the platforming was difficult but not impossible. I really enjoyed the "going into walls" mechanic.

Finished the game with 77 deaths lol. That final stretch is brutal!

I'm a fan, I think the visuals and the audio in this game are appropriate, and the level design, while punishing, makes a lot of sense. I appreciate that the game is forgiving with it's coyote time and collision boxes (many times I felt like I missed a jump but the game "let" me survive on that platform). I wish in the future that the game could incorporate the spinning in a more mechanistic way, and if there could be a slight delay upon death (maybe like a short animation) because sometimes the death scene wouldn't occur to me and I would just die right after again, which felt a bit strange.

Super fun game though, I love the little fishes!

FISHY GO SPIN! The game is so creative and I love how the colour changes when you dash. The game was really difficult tho ( I could NOT beat it 😭) but my biggest gripe is the game being only controllable with arrow keys as my keyboard doesnt have them so I had to keep pressing FN to use other keys as them and perhaps if there was WASD support I couldve beaten it. Regardless, the game has such an interesting charm I LOVE IT and the artstyle matches so well for the game!

Developer

thank you for playing my game^^

unfortunately, pico-8 is only supportive of 2 buttons(z and x, generally), and arrow keys. im very sorry that i cannot add wasd support :(

its possible i may rework this game to have easier controls(possibly for a controller) on a different engine :D

Ohhh I never knew that, I am completely unfamiliar with pico-8, seems like a fun engine, and honestly the game is made very well ( although it made me feel like a game journalist feeling cuphead ) ill try to beat it again some day and if you ever rework it on another engine, ill play it for sure!

Using PICO-8 instantly give you charm points lol! I could not get over the final stretch part, those spikes were insanely tight lol. But it also feels strangely addictive!

Nice work!

thank you^^, i worked really hard on it! ur game is really cool too:D

Tried very hard to clear the final stretch but alas I just couldn't get over the one-spike-on-each-side platform :') but surprisingly really fun for how simple it is, I think the screenshake and soundeffect helped it feel complete. The fast respawn time is definitely a very good design choice for reducing frustration.

thank you for your feedback^^

Really cool entry! I love platformers. I do wish the level design was a bit less punishing, and it would have been nice to see spinning being a more inherent part of the game mechaincs

Submitted

Oddly addictive? One of the games that will make you feel so alive when you get to beat it. Nice!

I really enjoyed the artstyle of the game and had interesting concepts that lent themselves to interesting movement like being able to climb and go past walls. However I do feel as if the fish spinning could've been tied to the game mechanic a little more, for example maybe the player can only dash in the direction the fish is facing. There's also a particularly nasty jump with two spikes that I wasn't able to get through, aside from that it was a short and sweet platformer.
