I had a great time. I reccomend allowing the main guy to be able to do thing for more player interactivity! love gar

Very fun entry! I kinda wished the main player sprite was a little nude dude with a crown since being decked out with armor and such without being able to use them seems a bit weird. The spin mechanic in theory looks super cool with the formation building, but the whole spinning/formation quickly loses it's implementation of the theme when in action against enemies are in play since all the companions become so scattered It seems really well built out though. Besides the sound effects when enemies are taking damage and for the player too, a flashing red or white indicator on the sprite would be helpful to make it clear which enemies are taking damage and when you as the player are too! This was very well made and again it was fun playing. Great job!

Very interesting and original take on the genre!

I think you gain companions too slowly, I couldn’t get anywhere close to what’s shown in the screenshots. The mechanics aren’t really explained at all, too. Sadly, the game bugged out and I couldn’t move after killing the boss in the temple.

With balancing, content and more sophisticated enemy/companion AI, this could very well be expanded into a full, sale-worthy game. Good stuff!

I could spend a whole day just rotating and watching my little companions move. This is such a creative take on the theme with great execution, plus the artstlye and sound add a lot to the experience.

Great stuff!

I am actually surprised this game did not get more attention, this is an amazing twist on the survivors genre. It was amazing to spawn many little guys to do my bidding. The formations added a good amount of depth.

You did ask for serious feedback, so I will suggest improvements/ things I noticed.

- The UI does not scale well with fullscreen.

- The bosses should have health bars and basic animations for their attacks.

- Enemies should show some kind of feedback (flash/knockback) when damaged

Thanks for the humble feedback. I will add it to my todo board.

Very interesting concept but unfortunately i couldn't see anything on TAB UI window, because most of it was out of my screen. Otherwise very cool art and fitting music choice. Very impressive as for a week long work!

This is a very original idea! And it's quite fun to play. Well done :)

Really unique and fun idea.

Fun concept, I enjoyed dodging around and letting my lil-guys fight for me. The music was fantastic as well.

Sadly I too got stuck in place after defeating the boss, I could rotate my guy but couldn't move. I think it could also be cool to have the formation of the guys have some more effect, as for as far as I got mostly the guys tracked onto anything within my range, so positioning seemed not to matter too much.

Really enjoyed the game! The visuals are great, the music fits well, and I really like the overall concept. 😊

Unfortunately, I also got stuck after defeating the temple boss and choosing a reward, so I couldn't continue the run. Aside from that bug, I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed playing. Great job!

unfortunately got stuck after leveling up and choosing a reward after defeating the boss in the temple :( stuck in place, can't move anywhere

visuals are nice & the music fits well! i love this concept and i think it has a ton of potential for a longer game (even some formation-related puzzles?)

i love my little guys that protect me! :)

Really cool game! The artstyle is really cute, and I really liked the fact that more enemies and more enemy types spawned as you spent more time outside.

The biggest issue, which could have just been me, but after I beat the Temple Boss, the game wouldn’t let me move anymore and I had to call it there.

As for things I think would be cool to be added, some sort of sound or clearer visual indicator whenever the Player gets hit would be nice, it was really difficult to tell at a glance if walking through a sea of snakes dealt any damage or they all missed.

The formations, while also a really cool idea, didn’t feel overly impactful since all my guys just ran off into melee range and left me to fend for myself. Maybe in the future, the Player could choose what each ring does, e.g. one ring stays and only attacks if things get into range but never leave the Player’s side, or maybe one ring runs off unless called back into formation. Maybe I also just didn’t use enough rings for the formation to be impactful, but I also didn’t have too many issues “beating” the game (as far as it would let me anyway).

Hope this helps!

I really enjoyed playing this, it gets addictive!

I noticed that there is a bug when returning to the starting point (?) A second banner appears underneath the  "ending expedition? " one.

For future updates, I would add some more enemy and locations variety and I'd polish the UI a bit.

Other than that,  well done, very cool concept!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback.

Yeah, unfortunately, I only noticed that bug yesterday. The second popup simply tells you that you were successful.

If I continue working on it, I have more biomes in mind, each with different rules. For example, with the desert theme, water consumption is higher.

Unexpected implementation - very creative!

Sorry for yapping ahead of time I had a lot to think about from this game. Very nice game!

I like this concept but I had some trouble while I was playing :(. A lot was unclear at first because I didn't know quite what the goal was or where to go. I also took a bit to find out that you could equip the weapons to your follower guys but that may have just been my bad. The game did appear to crash around after I killed the temple guy and then upgraded once after that, not sure what happened there.

I would have loved to see a bit more emphasis on the arrangement stuff because either I messed something up or it was just like that but they were only using the pursuing mode as I was playing so the layout I created never meant much.

I do really love the idea overall though! Adding spinning to an existing genre like this is a super cool base idea. And the mixing in dungeons and quests feels like it could be expanded and work super well. I also do quite like some of the art (mostly the props and such with outlines). Did you make it yourself? If not I'd love to know where you found it.

Keep up the great work! I worry that I sounded a bit harsh here but I just want to offer the advice I can, it's really a great game! It's always awesome to have a game where you can control a ton of guys.

One last idea ("wow this guy's still yapping?" yeah I'm sorry), if you update this I think having a way for the guys to die and respawn could work super nicely. Then they could even leave holes in your formations that you need to account for.

Hey, thank you so much for the detailed feedback. I really appreciate it, and I think it’s totally fine if there’s more of it.

You’re right, there’s still a lot of guidance missing. However, the fact that you first have to figure out where to go is intentional. The basic idea was also that I considered generating the map randomly each time, but that would have made testing much harder for me in the short amount of time.

I also wasn’t able to fully implement the layout part. While testing, I already noticed myself that I basically kept placing everything at the front so I could then run into somewhere with the group. To address that, enemies were supposed to spawn every few seconds and actively attack you from the side, so that you would at least have to secure those areas a bit. The dungeon/temple was also supposed to have a larger layout, where enemies could come from both behind and in front of you, making you more likely to use a tight formation there.

You can find the art in the credits. I got most of the stuff from Krishna Palacio. He has great 8-bit sprites with many different biomes. From Elv Games, I mainly used Rogue Adventures for the temple boss and the equipment sprites.

Regarding the last point: do you mean that the companions should be able to die? Because they actually can. Either you didn’t notice it, or you had items with HP regeneration. I’ll be honest: it’s very possible that a lot of things here are still totally unbalanced. Seven days is unfortunately a very short time.

In any case, thank you so much for playing and commenting. :-)
