Good aesthetic, concept and music. Combat was kinda hard for me lol. Nice job, congrats!!
Really cool idea and vibe. And more games inspired by Hotline Miami is always a treat.
However, Hotline Miami understood one thing that I feel is missed here. And that is that it's really hard to aim where you're not facing. You're not going to have the same accuracy as an FPS shooter. That's why in that game you can lock onto targets and never miss a shot. It's totally okay that you deviate from that formula, but I feel that the game expects me to be a crack shot with these controls, this is especially tricky with the slow moving player projectiles. Because of this my strategy becomes to move around as much as possible to avoid getting hit, but I'm limited by all the many objects in the scene that either block my shots or slow me down with physics. Additionally the enemies shoot me from offscreen before I can shoot them, which makes it very tricky to avoid taking health.
All this to say, the game is too difficult, but in a way that is more nuanced than "enemies have too much health". But other than this, and a bit of needed polish, I thought this was a really great entry and I hope you're very proud of the game you've made here. You had a week so I don't expect anyone's idea to be faultless, mine certainly wasn't, but I think it is helpful to highlight areas of particular friction so that we might all learn from them for future projects.
geez this game is tasty! Quite enjoyable and i really dig the aesthetics with the posterize-like shader and the overall assets, and the music is a vibe.
I think its a good game, the physics made me laugh, i was able to get on top of the map tho. If i had feedback i think id say that it would be better if the player did not have any delay on his bullets, like it would be instant on the target(or faster atleast) I think this would make it a bit easier for some player and make it more satisfying. Good game!
Really good game, I was bad at it in the start but when I picked vampire buff, I locked in. Also got the epic gun too
pretty solid! my aim was a bit questionable but it was a really enjoyable experience nonetheless, not being able to shoot by holding the button was quite irritating tho
There’s automatic weapons like the space gun, you hold it shoots
That was solid! A lot of fun to be had here if only I wasn't so limited by my own inability to actually hit things.
I only wish that I could hold down the button to shoot so I don't have to click so much, other than that I have no complaints at all! Very good game!
Bradar, some weapons are auto man, like the space gun!
oh there's guns I missed? for me it kept switching between the revolver and the bolt action rifle for like 6 runs so I thought those were the only 2
Did I just get weird rng?
Yeah, there’s more weapons, bad rng yeah
i rolled the dice to rate this game so 6/5
Roll roll, roll rolling, rolling roll roll to rolling roll 🐜
This game has an incredible amount of swagger and charm! I really like the art and music, and I really felt like I was in a groove fighting through the casino. However, I think more feedback would be good in some places, particularly with hit feedback and learning how rolls recharge. My guess is that they charge when you land shots, but I'm not really sure? Also as someone else said, a game-over screen (perhaps with a high score or something?) would help a lot. I was a bit confused when I thought I was doing great and was suddenly back at the main menu. That aside, I love this game! Great job.
Yeah, when you land shots there’s a chance you get the roll progress to reload, however, the roll progress goes up always when you kill an enemy, an difderent enemies give diferent amount of roll progress, xp etc… Soo Difficult Enemy == High Reward, Thank you for playing the game!
the art style is amazing! the base gameplay could use some work like lowering the health of theenemies and a GameOver screen would be pretty nice too, overall tho pretty solid game!
I love this game's style, the colors and character designs are very cool, and the music is really good! I do think the gameplay feels a little undercooked though, the enemies take way too many bullets to kill, and it's hard to even hit them with how slow your bullets go. Also it could use a death screen instead of just booting you back to the main men. I really liked the rolling mechanic though, how you don't just get a new weapon but you actually roll around the level trying to hit enemies, that's a fun idea.
Pretty nice, maybe a little cluttered with details and the enemies have too much health and too little hit feedback but the rest is pretty solid. Good job.
This game felt very nostalgic to me - I think it is a mix of the visuals and gameplay! Very fun and addictive imo - I could totally keep playing. Thanks for letting me try it out!
First of all, MAKE IT A WEB EXPORT!!!
With that being said, i really liked the general aesthetic of the game, the lighting was very moody, the pixel art shader was well done, the enemy designs were great, the music was also really good and pretty fitting.
Some stuff could be better, don't let the player reroll onto the same weapon, specially when the rerolls take so long to gather.
The enemies felt very similar gameplay wise, some of them shot bigger bullets and faster or slower ones, but from the enemies i faced they all just shot straight at you. they were also a bit frustrating as they kept shooting without stop from outside the screen. Maybe adding a reload animation would make the enemies more fair and more enjoyable to face as you could either run them down with close combat weapons or wait for them to reload from cover.
as for the weapons i got really unlucky, i kept spinning into the revolver, i once got the space gun and while the fire rate was way higher, the damage was lower so the time to kill didn't change much and it didn't feel like an upgrade.
I feel like adding a reloading mechanic to the player would also fix this issues, maybe once you're out of bullets you're forced to reload by spinning and getting a new weapon
gang, games must be downloaded like this, it has been all like that all this time in gaming, why people refuse to play indie games is by fucking microslop making things harder for indie developers to get visibility, smartscreen specialy fucks all up by adding that stupid pop up, and people are beeing drive by that pop up and refuses to play games that are not in web, what stupid world we live in.
hey you have to understand, the main feedback wasn't on the downloadable part.
I agree microslop is garbage but that doesn't mean people should like trusting random programs from the internet, executing random exe's without checking for safety first isn't something that should be encouraged
Yeah I know, but you cannot imagine how many people does that like, Like my game, by beeing made in Unreal Engine, I cannot import it to web, soo people wont play it, that’s unfair right, that’s what tickles me like why are we like “The Outcasts”, that’s completly unfair.
Love the art style I couldnt figure out how to roll for a while but I found out!!
Really cool game! The art direction is probably what stood out to me the most. The environments feel very polished and do a great job of setting the mood. I also liked how the game handled the theme, since it felt creative but still had a more serious side to it.
The main thing I would improve is the combat feedback. When enemies take damage or die, I think the game could make that a bit clearer with stronger sound effects, animations, flashes, or something similar. The screen shake was also a bit much at times.
Other than that, I had a great time with it. With a bit more polish I think this would feel even better. Nice work!
fire game! due to my laptop beign shit, i got 20 fps, but i still found it pretty enjoyable!
One of the most fun games ive played. Very fun, weapon variety, and nice movement and mechanics!!
Awesome game! I like the visual aesthetic and the environments are nailed perfectly! Though I wish there were a bit more visual or audio feedback when an enemy gets hit or died. The screen shake gets a bit too much at times when I am using the ray gun, I wished I could turn it down a bit in the settings. Definitely a creative take on the theme and a part of it are quite serious! Overall, the game's could use a little bit of polish on feedback and accessibility but other than that, awesome job!
Download was absolutely worth the play! Love the art style as well as the gameplay. Only critique I will point out is the lack of a way to disable the screen shake.
