Oh deaaar!!! I fear I have gone SPINSANE!!!!  Those damned shadow triangles done did me in :) Good fun, great work on the audio as well!   I had fun playing, and am curious to see how far I can make it!  It does seem like you as the player have very little control over the outcome.  Although this may be a thing that just takes careful strategy, but as the enemies reach about the 4 count, I'm not sure what that strat would be.  :)  Lots of fun though even without balancing!  Good work :)

I am surprised to see people surviving into 3-4 voids spawning.  I usually died around 2 if I didn't progress ASAP.  Loved your game, it really is beautiful!

Number 6 on the leaderboard let's go! I want to know what drugs you were on when you made this game and where can I get some?

Submitted

I really enjoyed it! Super nice visuals and satisfying combos! I was not 100% sure what the slot machine that popped up was, but it gave me bonuses so I like it! Ido think the enemy spawn was completly random, because I did 3 attempt, and in my third attempt I think 3-4 enemies spawned total and I destroyed the record haha. Super nice with a leaderboard by the way, I really want to implement that too but no idea how to do it :P I would have also liked some more enemies, maybe that you had to spin at at some certain angels! Right now I feel like its almost mostly luck if you get a kill or not, depending on if they spawn while your spinsanity meter is close to full or not, if that makes sense? But overall, super fun and clean game!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!

The initial void spawn is regulated by RNG.  I think it starts at 40% chance then goes up per level to spawn one.  There is also a $DeathTimer in the background that on timeout spawns a void - this was initially to keep the game moving.

The leaderboard is ran by a 3rd party backend.  It was…relatively easy to connect.  I really wanted that because I feel the game is a bit mediocre on meta progression gameplay, and the thing that’ll get people to continue to play is the leaderboard

Developer

Slot machine is just bonus for Spinsanity and Full Clears (of coins), and there’s a small chance for a free spin.  That was one of the last things I added

A classic arcade shooter for classic arcade fun. I like that you made the background a noise texture and not a solid color, as it makes the targets and enemies all the more striking. My only mild complaint is that the Void is a gradient so it can occasionally be a bit hard to tell where the safe zone is, but that was only a very minor issue.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback.

I wanted to give shadows / outline to the void to make it a bit more clear, but it looked absolutely hideous.  When the void spawns it triggers the gradients (simple clear to black) on the left/right side to close in and I think I overdid it a bit.

I love jam games like this that have simple controls and a fun gameplay loop. The screen shake, particles and silhouette effect when you enter SPINSANITY are truly chef’s kiss!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! I left feedback or you.  Really liked your game :)

Great game! I like the simplicity of the graphics

Thank you, Fiumbo!

Super fun! simplistic but addicting gameplay and great visuals too! lots of sauce!

Thanks for the kind words!

Forgot to mention for yours - TailSpin is a somewhat popular Disney cartoon show from the 90s.  I doubt Disney will come after you, but just be aware LOL

Something I have to highlight is the particle effects and the camera shake, they give the game really good game feel. The graphics are just right for this type of game. Nice work! :)

Developer

I feel like this game was like 80% juice LOL.  Thanks for the kind words!

Oooh, I loved this game. Super simple and easy to get into! Don't really have any notes other than nitpicks. I think the menu could possibly be "zhuzh'd" up a bit tbh. And maybe the "player asset"? Seemed odd that the guy was pixelated. Felt like the game from its cover image relied more on vectors or just solid, clean shapes. Though, I wouldn't really say any of these comments really detracted from my enjoyment. You have something solid and fun to play! Great submission~!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Hangover!

Yeah, the UI is just simple Godot buttons.  I am really bad at visuals so I just took a screenshot from gameplay footage for the cover image, which is mostly the particle effects from the void death.

Really satisfying to spin around the playfield. The name is very fitting!
It's clear you put a lot of effort to make it feel juicy and satisfying.

The menus seem like the least polished aspect. They seem to have a little bit different style than the actual gameplay. I probably wouldn't mention it if the actual gameplay didn't look this good!

Hear me out, this would work amazingly well as a part of an incremental game where you buy more orbs to collect, more health, better control, more time etc. and continue to the next level after surviving. Similar to the Tower Defence game "Outhold" but with your spintastic mechanics. 🤔

It took me a while to understand the controls and I didn't get that far but I still had fun with it!
Great job 😎

Back from the playtest and wowee!
Cool to see the trail change implemented and EVEN MORE SPINNING.

I think I've performed the most rotations in this game more than any other jam game.

Well suited to be a mobile game 😉🤳📱

I played on web so when you get the leaderboard back up PLEASE copy my local high score over:

dude the changes you made to your game made it next level!

Really fun and to the point, which I like. The music was enjoyable and definitely elevated the game. I also like the sort of geometry dash aesthetic. Nice work!

Submitted

pretty cool! it's fun, the visuals are simple but polished, and the music's really good :) though I couldn't hear it too well since the sound effect from hitting the walls dims all the other sounds for a bit, but other than that, it's a simple idea executed well, great job!

Submitted

love the game and the music, great job!

Really fun game, great style. The increased aggression and earlier spawning of the voids was a good call and felt good.  Great work!

One small issue I encountered is there is occasionally a bit of of bgm that gets really loud, hard to nail down exactly when or why.

Submitted

very cool, I like the music and the trail effects

Submitted

Fun game, there's a whole lot of spinning going on here!

Submitted

Best visual effects I have seen so far! Very beautiful art style and great sound effects. Music is a perfect fit for this game also. The leaderboard idea is pretty cool for a game like this. Cool take on a spin theme.

Thanks for the kind words, yoyo!

Straight forward and really effective, I like it!

Hey D00by, thank you for your kind words!

Very juicy! I think having health displayed somewhere would be ideal, but I love all the visuals and the sound design is very nice. Great job!

Hey Fiesta, thanks for your feedback!

I just responded to someone else about this, because it slipped my mind that not everyone would know the game like me: the bottom progress bar is the spin meter, which is both your health bar and Spinsanity mode countdown (it's actually just 2 progress bars that show() and hide() when they're needed or not).  That likely needs to be addressed in a tutorial.

I will be checking out your game shortly!
