trigonometry monkey
Genuinely such a cool look to this game. I can see it becoming something really cool. Way to scary for me, but I hope you guys keep working on it!
I think it’s a good game. I don’t see how it directly ties much into the theme of the jam. I think I would like to see Juniper playing this one, though, because it is cute.
I do think the controls could be more comfortable and accessible. Having controller compatibility, letting me choose between toggling or holding Shift, and some other way to flash the flashlight or spin it that doesn’t requite button mashing.
I didn’t end up understanding what monkeys killed me when I got killed. The first time I was hearing low pitch noises, so it might have been the Hear No Evil one. The second time I avoided the blind one (See no Evil), but then I went somewhere else and started hearing high pitch and low pitch noises. So when I was killed, I don’t know if it was one of these two or ever the stalker one.
It’s creepy, it’s an interesting concept about the Three Wise Monkeys. It’s very cool to see also the carriages/jails (?) from the monkeys. I don’t why there were more than 3, though.
I also don’t know how we could make this blind-accessible, but I am tingling to think about it. I wonder if this could be tied to the flashlight, maybe attaching a compass to the mechanic. And the compass would let you point somewhere, and/or when you use the flashlight you get a description of what’s in front of you (very brief, very quick) and some kind of map mechanic.
I feel that maybe the jack-in-the box could also make a little ticking noise or foggy noise, so you could help us navigate by following its sound as well.
Other than that, there’s the map at the start of the game that doesn’t really tell me where I’m at. And I think to make the map more useful, maybe it should? And yeah, I don’t know what those areas are but I feel that they’re areas that I should get to.
i really liked your sounds it made the atmosphere very scary, i didnt finish it though i left after first 2 key when the sounds started coming closer to me xddd
Wow the art and atmosphere and the sound! Also it felt really scary :D
The fantastic combination of atmosphere, sound design, and enemy behavior kept me on my toes (I jumped out of my seat when I saw one of the monkeys coming to get me the first time haha) the entire time I was playing! Awesome submission :D
This is the best horror games I've played in the jam(and the only hahah). The atmosphere, sound design, and the crank-powered flashlight mechanic create constant tension, and each monkey having its own behavior makes the gameplay really engaging.
I could tell to intro a bit more gradually and make the text easier to read, but I had the same issue with mine haha.
Love the crank mechanic, probably did irreparable damage to my mouse using it, but I'd say it was worth it.
I found it interesting the use of the three wise monkeys in a horror game, even better that each have a different mechanic in order to be avoided, I haven't played much horror games, but I think yours don't lose to Slenderman and others more famous ones. Good job!
Extremely cool horror game and perfect use of the "spin" theme! I have to say, I haven't finished it completely (my nerves wouldn't have handled it well ':)) but I really enjoyed the game nonetheless!
Hey man the game was pretty fun but it was very difficult you should play mine its also a but difficult to clear
Love the art
this shit too scary im not playing
(he played and almost won it, despite this comment lmao)
The cranking of the boxes is so tense and the art style really sells the ambiance. The pixel look suits it quite well
Great entry! Truly unsettling and very polished.
The best horror game I've played at the jam by far and comfortably one of the best and most polished games! I would have liked to provide some feedback/criticism, but it's genuinely amazing!
HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE BEST HORROR GAME. Genuinely full marks, while there were some bugs this was the first horror game where I felt terrified like the twig snapping audio? holy quac. Nice Job :D
TYSM! It was so fun watching you play it on stream, we were so happy that you were taking the game seriously and trying- you made a couple great runs!
Thank you for playing!! <3333
Scared the pants off of me, geez. Really great interpretation of the theme, very VERY well put together!
tysmm!! :D
I really like using the three wise monkeys as mascot horror! Crankable flashlight is also funny. Game was too scary for me cause I'm a coward and hate the unknown.
No worries! Thank you for playing! :D
Great horror game, I really liked the visuals and sound design! Unfortunately it was a little bit too hard for me, I think it could've benefited from more guidance on what the monkeys look like and also some sort of checkpointing system.
We’re so happy that you enjoyed it! We are honoured to be given feedback by another developer of How The TurnTables, your game is awesome!
You are definitely correct on your points- we should definitely have added those!
