This is a really cool idea! I love the execution with the upgrades. I also really like the music. You did a great job making this! Congrats on reaching 40 reviews!!

Developer

Thanks for your comment and review!! Much appreciated.

Great idea, fun to play! After a while, the nosecone fell off. Idk if that is on purpose? Not a big problem anyway, feels a bit like Kerbals Space Program :D Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The idea was to have the fairing decouple when the player gets to space in a cinematic cutscene, but we never got to making the cutscene or end UI. The result is that it just falls off and never comes back lol.

The music is truly a stroke of genius! I originally thought it was just a simple 'fly as far as you can' game, but when I finally made it to space, all I could say was, “Awesome!! We successfully made it to outer space!!!”

Developer

We're very happy with how the music turned out. Great job getting to space and thanks for playing!

Hey, I made the music for the game Waltz of the Seedling! I really enjoyed playing the game and I also loved the music and sound design! Overall a very fun experience!

Developer(+1)

I love the Music from your game too!😄 I am so glad you enjoyed the music here. This is my second attempted of making music and SFX for a video game. I just recorded my classical guitar to make both.  Would love to know what music software you used for your game?

Thanks! I wrote the soundtrack in Musescore and exported the wav files from the playback and used the Vienna Strings plugin to make them sound better than the default sounds. Then I put the wav files into Pro Tools and and recorded real cello/bass parts that I played myself. I did the best I could with the mixing/mastering (YouTube tutorials and friends helped me a lot with this) and that's what you hear on the game!

Really impressive game! Everything felt very cohesive, which can be challenging in general but especially for game jams.

The music was very well made, and I appreciated how integrated it felt into the world and player actions. I also liked how none of the upgrades involved any sort of automation, most of them just lowered the skill barrier needed to use with the main mechanic. It felt very creative.

Only issue I have with this is I feel like the theme integration could have been done slightly better. For example, if the QTE bar was a circle instead with the input bar spinning around it, or if the planet slice was obviously circular (it might be circular, it's just hard to tell with the camera angle) so it looks more like you're orbiting a planet, then this would have fit the theme a bit better without changing the gameplay that much. I still think it fits the theme really well, just that there were a couple of places where the theme could have been seamlessly integrated and it wasn't.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I see what you mean, we definitely could have integrated the theme a bit better. The planet is actually circular, it would have been nice to show that by zooming out somewhere. Glad you had fun!

I enjoyed this game a good bit! The music and color scheme immediately reminded me of Outer Wilds. The first time I got the spaceship to go far, seeing the terrain dip away and space creep in from the top was very satisfying. I appreciate that the store would only appear if I had enough money to buy something; good UX by not overloading the player!

I did feel like there was some lag between when I pressed spacebar and when the game registered it, causing me to fail a few attempts. I also wanted to be able to reset the rocket without penalty immediately after an attempt that I knew would fail; I technically was able to, but I think the money awarded is calculated based on the rocket's location when you press R, not necessarily where it will land, and so I would lose out on whatever money I would earn by watching it play out. Also, I'm not sure if anything happens when you win? I definitely made it into orbit, but it just went back to the launch pad and gave me money.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, and I forgot you wanted to know what future content I would want in a full game! I think maybe moving the goalposts over time? Like "You've made it to low-Earth orbit, now shoot for the moon!" and then scale up the required velocity and angle needed. Speaking of angle, maybe it could be cool to let the player decide what angle they want to shoot out from? Idk if there's a guaranteed-best angle that would negate the point of this (although maybe you could get around this with obstacles or wind that changes every attempt) but I'm always a fan of giving players more decision-making opportunities.

Developer

Great ideas! We actually almost implemented the angle idea, then had to scope down lol. Thanks for the detailed comments!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game! The upgrades screen auto-hide was completely last second at the end of the bug period, we barely snuck it in after getting the atmosphere working on browser. The minigame was made in UI builder. In retrospect, that may be causing some issues. As you said, money is calculated from the point you recover (which can be mid-air), and there's no end UI unfortunately.

This game caught me completely off guard!

It gives off a total Outer Wilds vibe with a very unique aesthetic. The music completely immersed me right at the start, and I found the pacing to be highly rewarding! This is an extremely well-crafted and well-thought-out piece of work. Huge congratulations to the team!

I just wanted to leave some constructive feedback based on my experience:

  • Sometimes, when spinning really fast, my rocket would glitch out/flicker either outside or inside the map.
  • It would be cool to have a distance counter (in meters) to know exactly what your high score/limit was.
  • I wasn't able to finish the game (launching the rocket out of orbit) even after buying all the upgrades and hitting all the blue points until they became a tiny, almost impossible-to-click line. It would be interesting to include some kind of visual indicator showing how close you are to beating the game.

Thank you for the opportunity to play this, it gave me a truly unique feeling. You can really tell you put your hearts into making this. Congratulations again!

Developer

Thanks for the useful feedback! We ran out of time to implement the end screen UI, noted on your other points. We're glad you enjoyed the game and OST!

Really interesting idea, chill and fun game nice work!

Developer

Thanks!

I had a lot of fun playing this, I definitely think it could use some polishing but I found it pretty engaging and a fun concept overall.

Some notes:

- Would be great to see the distance traveled as I'm traveling, bonus for seeing where my previous ships landed~

- Totally my personal opinion but I think you can fold the meta-progression in somehow better than just having a store, which would incentivize lots of low quality runs to get better outcomes

- Might just be the browser, but using spacebar felt a little imprecise, sometimes it'd register a couple frames lagged after pressing.

Cool idea I hope it gets expanded! Also thank you for the extensive feedback you gave to my game, I really appreciate it!

Developer

We're glad you enjoyed it! I see what you mean about meta-progression, that's an interesting possibility. We definitely plan to add a distance travelled metric and maybe a sign marking the furthest run.

It was a very fun and relaxing game! I liked your interpretation of the theme and I really liked the art style also. It felt satisfying to get more upgrades and launch the ship further and higher. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Loved it, very relaxing!

Developer

Happy you enjoyed!

Never expected this coziness from incremental game, space theme and that killer guitar really fits together, I feel very relaxed when device breaks out to the space! Kudos to sound designer specifically.

OrnagePainting had suggested this game to me discovering you guys and I will definitely add your game to Spincremental Collection. I would also appreciate if you want to help my personal campaign of finding more fun Spincremental games (clicker and incremental genre)  and highlighting them, you can comment your permission or suggest games in this post. You can also reply from here if you want, please don't feel any pressure :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! Our sound designer really killed it, I'm quite impressed as well. I actually almost commented on your post earlier but got hung up on what an incremental game really is lol. Good luck on your endeavour!

One of my favourite games on this jam,I maxed all stats

Developer

I'm surprised how many people have maxed the stats, very happy to hear!

Submitted(+2)

Fun relaxing game! Had a slow start but I stayed till I achieved all upgrades. Would be nice if there were more to see in space. It also has a couple visual glitches when you get far from the starting point, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. Love the audio btw

Developer

It definitely has a slow start, progression balancing is tough. I almost put a hot air balloon part way up, but it didn't happen in the end (too much to think about). Thanks for giving it a chance and for the feedback!

Hey Lovely work!  This was a fun to play!  I especially enjoyed drifting through the upper atmosphere and floating around.  I played and maxed out everything, doing my best to see everything you made.  I like the changing environments and mountains that you eventually vault over.  This adds a nice bit of reward flavor to your launches.  Your early game camera work is also quite good.   Here are my notes overall:  With a number get bigger game like this one it is almost vital that the player gets to watch number tick up in some way (during the launch).   That would be my number one note.  As for player reward flavor, once you achieve higher and higher thrusts, you see less of the evolving landscape, and while making it to space is beautiful and very well captured (great job on that by the way) it would have been nice to have been greeted with some little aliens, space ship, planet. Something like that to add to the reward of making it as far as the player has.  Same goes for empty areas of the lower world within the atmosphere as well.  There are also a couple of visual glitches once you achieve very high velocity.  Trees spawn briefly in space, and the rocket mesh can permanently deforms slightly, and also appeared to get locked on the wrong axis, by the very end of the game.  Great work overall.  This is my first game jam, and they are very hard and obviously all of our games are not complete, and polished and that is part of the point!  I have found some major slip ups in mine I haven't told anyone about, that I will be fixing  :)  Im glad to have been part of the struggle with you! And hey LOOK we made full games!!!! Great work :)
- also come find me @ BisonHatStudios on insta tic toc or youtube - I will be posting about my experience wit the jam soon

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your kind words and feedback! I had noticed a few of the glitches you mentioned but this is the first time we're hearing about trees flickering in space, that's quite a bug you found. I agree that some kind of power meter or score is missing during launch, and adding things like a planet or moon in space is a great idea. We'll be sure to check out your YouTube too! Your flying bison hat is very stylish.

This was a fun little game!! The music was really nice - it was different to what most games have, and that helped it to stand out!  I loved the low poly aesthetic :D The small details, like the fossils in the ground, really sold the game to me!! Loved it!

My only critique, like others have mentioned, is that an ending screen would have been nice. Good work!

Developer

Thanks for your detailed feedback! We are in severe need of an end screen, though it's nice knowing that people are making it to space.

Submitted(+2)

Fun game, it had a slow start but it got fun the more I launched! I can see this game being more polish for sure!

Developer

It is a slow start right now, the game balance could use more work. Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

A really fun game overall! I was a little confused once I got into space then just instantly teleported back to the launch pad. I think having a win scene or something a little more clear telling us that we have won would have gone a long way. All together a great entry. Good job!

Developer

I totally agree! The teleport back to the beginning was supposed to be removed in the final build, but I somehow managed to undo that change, and an end screen was planned but never implemented. Happy you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

I really enjoyed this! Very relaxing to play, it would have been nice to have a tiny cutscene. for when you win, but it still is very enjoyable. The audio design, although I find it a bit raw, I liked the music so much! It reminds me of Outer Wilds

Developer

An ending cutscene was next on our list of things to implement, I agree it would have been a big improvement. Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed!
