Oh my goodness how did you make this in a week?!?! I need to step up my game... it is just soooo polished, really, really fun, great art, and rather creative. You have truly done excellent this time. Wow.

I was confused by the name at first, but when it flipped, I was laughing

I enjoyed your game. This kinda mechanic for fighting is new to me so I enjoyed it. However I don't see any spin aspect asides from being a ball. The audio definitely needs some work aswell but I wasn't very focused on it while playing. It'd be a nice addition to add a healthbar to the enemies as I felt like I was doing a lot but I couldn't tell how close I was to beating them. Really fun game though.

This game is outstanding in every single aspect, i love how the minimap is hand drawn, the secrets and all the polish, I think something that could improve a lot the experience is a way to control you air time, like holding for a heavy bounce, or some kind of dash

My time was 6:49, it was a pretty fun experience, amazing job!

Hello! I have finished your game and I have some feedback! Some of it mirrors what others have said.

  • The pixel art is outstanding. I love the look of this game!
  • Theme feels a tad weak, I suppose you're spinning around (or, gravity is I think you said in a comment?) but it's less pronounced than some other games I've rated.
  • I didn't look at your tags or comments before I jumped in - I thought this was going to be a puzzle platformer then I got surprised by a Hollow Knight boss, lol.
  • Knowing you did this in 3 days is wild.
  • Are there only 3 bosses or did I miss one? I thought I saw someone say 4 but I might have misread something.
  • Not sure what the yellow stars are in front of the final boss room. I guess that's more incentive to come back to this game and figure it out!
  • I found a hidden room in like the top left corner of the map, but I'm not sure what it's purpose was. It looked like the same animation that heals you after a boss but since all the enemies in this game are bosses you'll always be at full health unless you're locked in a boss room. So I don't know what that was.
  • Others have said that all the bosses have too much health. I disagree! I think the second and third bosses were tuned great! The first boss has way too much health, however.
    • I didn't even know if I was dealing damage to the first boss on my first several attempts until I came to look at the comments. I see the animation for hitting him but idk, it just seemed like maybe a parry, idk. Boss health bars might be nice, or at least a different sound effect for hitting an enemy vs hitting a wall.
  • Menus would be nice. Like a pause of some sort at least.
  • This feels really good to control! You've added a lot of polish to this game, it feels like!
  • Map screen is cute! I like that it looks like the gravi-slug has doodled on it!

Yeah. I really liked this one! I've been saying on every comment I leave that I hope I don't come off as too negative, I'm trying to be constructive but I feel like I had mostly positive things to say about this one! My final time was 22:34 and I feel like at least 3/4ths of that was fighting the first boss.

Have a wonderful day and good luck in the Jam!

Thanks for the review! One thing I'll say is that the stars and the hidden room are related, so if you figure out what one does, you'll figure out what the other does as well. It's nothing interesting though, thanks for playing!

Will say right away - I didn't go past the first enemy since I didn't understand how to slay him, I guess. But I can definitely say that controls are simple but working, color palette is beautifully matching and sounds aren't annoying! 22/25 points from me

Wow... I love this game!!! It feels insanely polished. My only nitpick is the music, since its really repetitive, but other than that this entry is amazing!

Amazing addicting game, have alot of fun playing it, boss mechanics are great, very good level and boss designs. Great job!!

OMG that first boss was insane!!! i kept mashing him and it did nothign!! but i got it at the end! really cool stuf, can't believe it was made in just 3 days!! amazing artstyle!

Good gameplay feel and combat but very hard!

The game looks great and it's a cool idea. For me, the first enemy was too hard to beat but that could be more to do with my ability. Really well-polished game. Well done!

I thought this would be tricky to get into at first, but it turned out to be remarkably quick to pick up, which makes for a really pleasant experience! The visuals are stunning and feel consistent with the quality of your other games from what I could see, the animations are wonderfully fluid, and the sound design and music tie the whole atmosphere together perfectly. For me this is a 5/5 across the board, and it's even made me curious to check out the rest of your work. Excellent job!

I noticed this has already been mentioned, but I'll add my voice to it too: the mobs might have too much HP, and beyond extending fight length or whatever the intent might be, it risks discouraging players from pushing further into the game, which would be a real shame given how polished this project is overall!

I’ll start with what I didn’t like. In my opinion, the first boss has way too much HP. I almost quit the game because I thought I was doing something wrong and attacking him incorrectly. But I finally beat him on my 15th try, and the rest of the bosses weren’t nearly as difficult. I’m also not sure if the game really fits the theme. It’s more “Bounce to win” than “Spin to win.”

Aside from that, visually, I love this minimalistic pixel art, the animations are gorgeous and vibrant, and attacks feel really satisfying. The boss designs are excellent (aside from the first boss’s HP pool), I had a blast fighting them. The mechanics feel solid, too. And the way the movement mechanics felt reminded me of the game Leap Year (I don’t know if you were inspired by it in any way).
Really enjoyed your game! In terms of gameplay, it’s probably one of the best games I’ve played on this jam.

This is really impressive! Super polished looking for just the 1 week time span. I beat the game in 8:32 :)

The juice on the space bar dash move feels so satisfying, and being able to chain dashes into enemies instead of it flipping your gravity is a great design choice. Hitting a combo feels so good.

My only real issue is that some of the attacks felt like they weren't designed with the player's moveset in mind. There were times where the spread of swords felt impossible to dodge on the 1st and 2nd bosses. They'd spawn and I'd see them angled downwards but I was already moving downwards with no way to dash up. In that situation I tried dashing and not dashing and got hit either way.

I also feel like dodging a lot of the attacks relied more on the lateral movement than the vertical movement. For example, I found out I could dodge the spread of swords more often than not if I drifted behind them. However, the most satisfying part of the game is dashing up and down, the lateral movement in comparison feels a bit floaty. So using the lateral movement to dodge attacks feels lackluster.

There was one attack on the final boss that felt perfectly designed. When the swords spawn in a circle I could reliably use a combination of up/down dashes to weave through the boss and get on the correct side of the swords. Easily my favorite part of the game, this felt so cool to pull off. Would have loved to see more attacks with this sort of dodging in mind! Or perhaps a slight tweak to the players moveset so the other attacks feel more engaging to dodge.

But overall I really enjoyed playing! I'd love to see this refined more into a full game. I feel like I had to dig a lot deeper for my critiques than other games because you clearly know what you're doing. Good work!

Thanks for taking the time to put together a review! Really appreciate the feedback, and thanks for playing too ;)

You deserve every bit of praise you get and more. I don't even like platformers that much! And I loved this one! The squishy effects, the unique mechanic of bouncing between the floor and ceiling, the cute derpy handdrawn map, it was just an immediate hit for me.

I wished that the bosses showed their health somewhere (or maybe they did and I was blind). And I was surprised that the first one had as much health as it did. I only lost once, though, so maybe that's a fine balance.

So happy I came across this gem of a game.

I enjoyed this game! Gameplay was fun! And pixel art was very cute. Great work!👍

Absolutely LOVED the pixel art and sound effects, and the main mechanic is really cool!

Although I do think the bosses had a little too much health (I mean I beat it so I guess it wasn't that bad, just felt a bit health spongey) and some of the attacks pretty much seemed unavoidable at times.

That said this is still easily one of the best games I've played, INCREDIBLY polished and really well made! :D

Oh yeah, also how does it fit the theme? I guess the little dude is spinning?

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I could have explained the premise a bit more I suppose. The whole idea was that gravity flips (or in this case, spins) every time you land. I tried to show it in the starting cutscene with the title spinning, and originally the entire camera flipped every time gravity would change, but it ended up too annoying. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Ah cool yeah, that makes sense now. I wasn't thinking about it that way.

an almost finished game that just needs a bit more content
great art style supported by nice music and SFX
but the pain point for me that stopped me from enjoying it around the mid way point
was the unnecessary amount of health that the bosses have.
don't get me wrong I have sunk thousands of hours into souls games.  I seek challenging games.
it's just not the kind of game that should be this challenging (most of the fault lay's on Hollow knight really - still like it). especially when the movement is constant and can some what be unpredictable turning mistakes into frustration because I have never meant for the character to move that way. (kinda like fighting 2 bosses at the same time)
this is just a me thing. games like these have their audiences.
and a game made for everyone is a game made for no one.

creativity and theme wise this great.

Developer(+1)

Damn, thanks for playing though. Sorry you didn't enjoy the bosses as much as I intended. Hope it didn't go into the score too much :(

Either way, glad you liked the art and sound effects.

Submitted(+1)

no worries, of course it didn't go to the score. as I said this was just a me thing.
you guys have a great game on your hands. just needs more content.
very awesome work.

Super fun. The game feel and UX is amazing, probably my favourite game I've played so far. I love the art style and unique boss fights. i got 7:06 on my first run.

Submitted

The game is really polished! And the movement gimmick is really fun to play around with! (Not sure if I'd consider it spinning though, haha)

Overall, I found the game pretty enjoyable, but also fairly difficult. Maybe that's a skill issue on my part. I probably would've benefited from a simpler enemy to learn the combat with. The teleporting slash on the first boss did me in a lot.

Would love to see where this game goes!
