Wow, the background stage art is SO pretty, and the ballerinas' animations look so fluid! I'm really impressed.
Like some other commenters pointed out, I also had some difficulty understanding how to play at first, so I won't repeat the suggestions they've already made.
Really cool submission. Congrats!
Visually stunning and really love the theme.
This looks really well done! I can see that alot of effort was put in as well!
The idea is very unique as well, something I have not seen yet, and its well put.
Really like the, "stage rehearsal" and "how to dance" sections, really nice way to guide the player.
Overall, a really good game!
This is such a creative and unique take on the theme, using ballet as the core mechanic is something I haven't seen done before,. It's clear a ton of care went into the art, animation, and music, i like the rotoscope ballerinas a lot. Everything feels cohesive and polished for a jam game. Really impressive work from the whole team, hope to see this developed further because it is intense! Would appreciate if you could check our game too!
Woah, a fully complete and polished game with a great amounts of skill involved to get better at it? And a HUGE skill ceiling as well?
Absolutedy enjoyed my time with it and definitely hope to see more!
It was awesome watching you play on stream, thanks for taking the time to learn so many of the mechanics! Seeing your reaction to performing patterns was priceless.
Alright well that was fairly difficult to learn how to play and I am still not sure I fully got it by the end but it was super fun! There have been several games I played on here that took ballet as their spinning motive but I havent actually seen one that actually focuses on the dancing rather than using ballet as kind of a set piece, very interesting!
Also this game looks absolutely amazing! I am blows away by the visuals and the smoothness of the animation!
Great game! Well done
Thank you!! We're glad it was still fun even if you didn't fully grasp the controls! We wanted the core mechanics to be easy enough to have fun avoiding dancers, while also including a high skill ceiling for those who want to get crazy scores.
The idea is very unique, and the overall cohesiveness of the audio, UI, and art is great. Fun game!
This legitimately opened my eyes to how a ballet game would play out, this could legitimately become its own fully realized bullet-hell-adjacent game about maintaining combos and avoiding "bullet patterns". Amazing work, no notes except that I want my animation cancels let me have them 😡 (joking)
Thank you for the kind words!! That's exactly the type of game we were hoping to achieve, bullet-hell meets trick-combos. Maybe it'll be a new genre called "ballet-hell"!
Your game is the first I give 5 stars for creativity. Well done.
this was incredible !! such a unique take on the theme. the art is gorgeous and i loved the music. plus, i think i learned a bit about ballet ! it would be cool to have a guided gameplay tutorial as i was memorizing stuff from the tutorial page haha. all this to say: loved it!
Thank you, we're glad you took away some ballet terms from our game!! Our artist, Jen, did ballet for a while, so I definitely had to learn a lot about ballet to get up to her speed. We almost did something with the "5 positions" of ballet, but that would've been even more complex lol
What a well-made and polished game! Definitely a standout title of this Jam.
Congratulations on the creativity! I’ve played several games and haven't seen anything else with this theme and aesthetic, it's completely beyond comparison. Huge congratulations to the team!
This is one of the most creative and polished games I've played! Personally, I found the tutorial really well made and helpful. It wasn't boring or hard to get through and has fairly clear visuals demonstrating ideas, which complement the text explanation. That's a huge accomplishment!
That said, it felt a bit cryptic to figure out the mechanics. First, I thought I had to click to perform a move which would activate when the circle finished. Then, I thought I had to start and finish a move before the circle expanded completely, starting each move after the circle began expanding and finishing it before it reached the edge. In reality, it seems like I have to hold the mouse button while the circle reaches the edge to queue the next move, which doesn't feel intuitive as a hold click for me.
Random idea: Depending on the direction this goes, I could see the length of the mouse button hold corresponding to the amount of time a move takes to perform, with real-time changes that affect combos and points.
After getting the hang of it, it's fun! The combo finishing move is challenging and rewarding to hit. I do wish there were more combos and things to do, especially relating to movement and momentum.
This was an amazing, well polished experience. The visuals and the audio were amazing and played into the game's theme perfectly. Gameplay is a bit hard to learn, but is well designed and fun.
Awesome game! It's impressive that your team was able to make this in just a week. The music and sfx was on point too, and complimented the visuals really well. Nice job!
10/10, would bump into dancers again.
Seriously, this is one of the best games I've seen in the jam and I can't believe it was made in a week. The art, gameplay, presentation, polish- everything feels great and despite my hideous dancing I had a blast.
Well done!
I really think this is one of the most polished games I've played during the jam! It looks great, creative idea and interesting gameplay. The main thing that I think I'm missing is a goal kinda, if that makes sense? Would be nice if there were levels maybe or shows, and you had to reach a certain score withing a time limit each day. I can imagine you probably thought of these things, you didnt have enough time (like all of us haha), but still super nice job creating such a polished game in such short time!
Thank you!! Yeah we had a couple ideas for goals, but we went with an arcade high-score approach so we could focus more on polishing the core gameplay. If we continue working on this, we absolutely want to explore a 3-Act structure with intentionally designed levels.
If you want a challenge to aim for, it is possible to "break" the scoreboard by scoring 9,999,999+ in one round. You really have to master the pattern system (repeatedly perform a sequence of 2-6 steps, such as ABCABCABC) to achieve this, but with enough practice you can score 3 million+ points with a single 47-step combo :P (Although I've only achieved this in the rehearsal mode, my reflexes aren't good enough for doing that in the full game!)
I suspected you probably prioritized getting the game to actually work first haha, I did the exact same and also wanted to add levels but just didnt have time. I only reached a couple thousand in score haha, I did not realize you could get such insane combos, that's pretty cool! Good luck if you decide to develop the game in the future!
What a polished game. Its super well made and I really like the combo system. Beautiful what you did in 7 days.
What a polished game! This is one of the most polished games in the jam not to mention how neat of an idea this is as a take on the theme! Good job!
Wow! Amazing idea, amazing art, and really good music! It took me a while to understand the timing despite the tutorial, probably cause I thought the game was based on me clicking, and not having a certain mouse button held when the timer ended, and I also had trouble hitting finishers as the circle gets a little too fast for me, that or I just didn't understand the mechanic enough. Regardless, I was able to get a pretty high score and enjoy myself. One of the best entry I've played thus far!
Damn, it is harder than salsa!
Nice game and very cool animations
As someone whose dance experience is one salsa class and learning a lot about ballet in the past week... yeah I think the ballerinas got 'em beat in terms of difficulty.
