Fun and silly game! I like the pixel art and the clown face on the cat when playtime is over is hilarious. I really like what it looks like when the cat carries a ticket in his mouth too! Also I really like the environment and the other cat characters manning the stations. Gambling is neat, I like the animation. And I like the fish diagonal scrolling background on the main menu! Overall, super cohesive and strong game!

Can't say I understood the game fully. still had a blast

Developer

Thats great to hear xD

Yeah I will definitely add a tutorial after the jam, its on the checklist for refinement :D

Kinda hard to rate this as it's a very strange game.  I'm not sure I understood what was going on.  I spun the wheel and a chicken was spawned.  The chicken then one shot killed my character.  I tried again.  It was hard to find tickets.  I got something called a zoomie, but couldn't see what it was.  I even bought one of those along with jumpy (?) from the vendor and, again, it didn't seem like anything had changed.

There is a charm to it, particularly due to the hand drawn artwork.  But, I was clearly missing a lot.  Also, one shot kills should be avoided.

Developer(+1)

Yeah it's no easy game, had almost no playtesting from others as I was in a hyper fixation during the week, so it was good for me but feedback shows i definitely have to tweak the difficulty or add a easier mode.

Buying abilitys makes them unlockable through the wheel.

Thanks for playing and trying <3

Cuteee! Loved the visuals!

Developer

Thanks :)

Such a really fun entry! Great job for capturing the perfect level of silliness!

not bad game  the gameplay loop could use some work also i got stuck in a trashcan when i tried to jump near it (the one next to the chicken warehouse) as a concept its cool like i said it get's repetitive over time so the gameplay loop needs some work other than that great job it's a good game in my book :)

Submitted(+1)

Not a bad game it just got a bit repetitive after a while. For me the chickens were bugged and couldn't move bc of a box so it also could be the reason i got bored. I wanted to box in the rat with barricades, then it just took down my fortress lol

The tickets were sometimes really hard to find.

The music was good, maybe another track could've been great so it wouldn't get repetitive

Cute game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for Playing :)

Yeah thats a known bug by now, will be fixed :D They get stuck because of randomly placed object directly in their designated spawn point. I spend alot of time with the wheel, upgrades and pathfinding (optimization mostly q.q) so I sadly had little time in the end for playtesting and bugfixes.

It does not happen alot so by pressing retry you could have gotten the full experience :)

The enemys try to find a path to you, if there is none they will target the destroyable objects until they can get to you again to exactly prevent castle building :D

Ill definitely add a light glow effect to the tickets, were even harder to find at the start withoug movement, the shadow and see-through objects but my eyes are also not very good in spotting this little fella.

Great art style and music, certainly sells the atmosphere. Loved all the cat puns also!

Developer

thanks alot <3

Pretty fun one! Was pretty tricky navigating around all the chickens lol, but all in all the loop of finding money then gambling while running away is a pretty entertaining one. Also the art was great, added alot of flavour

Developer

Thanks alot, will lead that compliment right to the artists <3

Take a look at the chocolate eggs if the chicken coop has completely flooded the field, aswell as the barricades to hinder them navigating to you.. as long as you dont completely block their path ;)

I really like the artstyle, and having an incremental game with a stalker is an interesting concept. The cat with the ticket in his mouth is also a better way of showing information that a number in the HUD, I wish more games did that.

Good game overall. Congratulations!

Developer(+1)

thanks alot, we appreciate your compliments <3 Yeah I was really set on doing it with the ticket, would love to put even more information to the character, but its quite tricky on such small pixle art for it to be readable.. got it done with the zoomies ability aswell :D

Submitted(+1)

This game is pretty good. I like your artstyle.
I tested your linux build, but it doesn't work. I was able to play it with wine

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! Will make sure to look why it doesnt work on linux, as it works on Mac and Windows. I think i missed some steps for linux distribution already stated in the documentation, will try those once this event is over :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh I loved this.. It was very cute. All of the sprites were very cute :)

Developer

Thank you for your kind words. The artists are flattered <3

Really liked this game! Found it really funny when in one run I rolled 5 chickens in a row and died very soon after. I like the fact that before fixing the jackpot, the wheel just respins. I enjoyed buying upgrades and abilities from the shop, and having to dodge the rat and chickens while searching for tickets. I also found the lose screen very funny. Great game!

Developer(+1)

haha i love how theres both love and frustration and love for the shady funfair at the same time <3

Submitted(+1)

I loved the splash art and sprites in game! It was a good idea to make the stands transparent when you are behind them. Most developers would forget to add that detail, especially in a game jam. Well done!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much!

I had lots of trouble to find the tickets and thought it was unfair to have to walk everywhere when im supposed to see whats behind while behind the object. So when i started working with shadering to highlight the shop and gambling cats i figured why not add the alpha-canal to create some sort of transparency :3 would love it to have more of a gray-tone but did not get that correctly so i let it be.

Submitted(+1)

That was a twist on the normal wheel spin game. I totally thought releasing chickens would be helpful my first playthrough, did not expect them to turn on me, lol. First time I had the jackpot stolen from me too I was like... what the H? lol.

Developer

haha so.. I assume you liked it? :P Shady Funfairs do ten to have unfair tendencies.. will probably add a easyer mode to tweak the difficulty for more casual gameplay.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, went in not expecting much, didn't realize we were supposed to avoid the rat at first and died right away. Having the hints on death was helpful in realizing that I wasn't supposed to just gamble and buy stuff, but that there was a survivor-like mechanic to it

Submitted(+1)

I love animals. I love gambling (Just kidding) I love this game!! Pure vibe.

Developer

thanks <3

Submitted(+1)

its a funny game i liked it. also its funny how the gambler guy respins the wheel again if i hit the jackpot xddd

Developer

thank you so much! <3

The rat manipulated the wheel. you need to make the cat in the trenchcoat fix that in order to win :3

Submitted(+1)

I'm not familiar with MonoGame, so it's cool to see new engines/frameworks! The mechanics and overall vibe of the game are pretty fun (the wheel is as unfair as a carnival game should be </3), and the different upgrades you can purchase were all neat. One bug I noticed while playing is that you didn't normalise your WASD inputs. As such, you walk at twice the speed when walking at a diagonal, which was both a blessing and a curse. At times it helped me get away from the chickens and rat, but in others it threw me off and caused me to walk straight into them. Definitely fix that if you plan to work on this submission after the jam.

Still a solid game! Keep at it <3

Developer

Thank you so much! MonoGame is a very neat framework worth checking out, I highly recommend it especially if you are familiar with .NET!

Yeah, did not touch the movement once my artist said they love how it moonwalks, so I just let it be and focussed on other things. But I will definitely correct the  walking speed there and adjust the movement of the enemies accordingly once I have refactored this mess :3

Very cute entry, fun take on a theme and overall a great game!

Developer

<3 thank you, very glad you enjoyed

Submitted(+1)

I got a bug where all the chickens spawned inside a balloon and didn't move which was very convenient. Also, I found it a bit frustrating that when you haven't bought the jackpot upgrade and get a jackpot it just spins again. Otherwise, it was a very cute game. Great Entry!!

Developer(+1)

Heh lucky you (reset button exists though :p )

I tried quite a lot to prevent that in the last hours before publishing, those random obstacles gave me lots of headaches I gotta rewrite alot in that department if I want to continue developing this.

Yeah that jackpot reroll is quite the troll.. I thought about adding mean laughter from the rat when it comes but this has a purpose: it is so that you can see the goal from the get go but can't just reset until you hit it.

Thank you so much for playing and your kind words! :3
