Fun little game! Liked the art in the background and the couple of variations in the gears (like the ones with the channels in them) and the launch pads are a cool thing. A little hard to time some of the launchpads since the ball moves so fast by a lot of them, but other than that, it's good!

This game was fun and everything in it functioned as it should. no complaints, with more levels and content this feels like complete game

LOVE IT. Just want more tbh

I  actually really enjoyed this game! The controls and movement of  the ball as it was going all felt really smooth! Great job! I do wish there was a full reset button so I  didn't have to go back to the main menu to reset my time, which also causes the music to restart   which makes it sound a  bit odd, but besides that it was a very smooth experience.

Developer

thanks for the feedback! in hindsight having the reset button be a full reset makes a lot more sense

i really should have tested with the version i uploaded a bit more as ive got so many comments about the music not being smooth despite it working locally lol

glad you enjoyed :)

i really enjoyed the way you explored some of the mechanics in this short demo, the elements have a lot of potential to make lots of interesting and fun levels, and i enjoyed the movement. it is simple but works very well. the mechanics feel smooth, and the animations that are here such as the launchpad cogs turning and the smooth movement of the launchpad look very good.

this game has the potential to be great if polished, but in its current state is a bit iffy in places (as expected for a game jam, but worth mentioning for the future). main menu is blank and music does not play through scenes (for example the level select, main menu and settings all restart the song each time).  there is also a typo in the first level

i think in general the sound design is rough, often spamming sounds with not enough variety (i think this could be solved by blocking out hitboxes so they are solid throughout several platforms, as when there are several platforms in a row it tends to play the loud hit sound for each platform). the sounds are also somewhat similar to the instruments of the music which makes it difficult to discern the music and the game audio to my ears

i love the backgrounds, and if you had more time i think it would have been cool to see the level geometry individually stylised to the style of the background of the level, as well as a more cohesive visual style (the player, obstacles and background all have different artstyles, for example)

anyway, given its a week long game jam and you are the sole developer i think thats all expected and given time would be fixed. its a cool concept and definitely one of the more interesting ones ive seen, so great work

first level took me 18 seconds, second took 31 seconds and the third took 35 seconds :)

Developer

thanks so much for the detailed feedback!

this was my first time doing sound design in a game so def lots to be learned, appreciate the tips :)

if i had time to create assets myself instead of relying on pre-made assets i would have def tried for more cohesion, and having the backgrounds tie into the levels is a great idea

glad you enjoyed!

A pretty chill game that has a really smooth gimmick. I wish that there was a sound for when your boost was charged enough to use, and that the camera lagged behind the player a little, so you could get a better gauge of how fast you're going! I wish there were more levels because what's here feels pretty smooth and fun, nice work

Developer(+1)

ooh i like the idea of the camera lag, i def wanted to add more sfx and stuff but my mate who made them was struggling for time

glad you enjoyed!!

The game is really fun, I like the pinball vibe. I’d love to see more levels later if you continue developing the game, with all the mechanics and maybe some more puzzles. The only thing is the sound design and music: the sounds are kind of all over the place. If you made them yourself, big props to you, because I wouldn’t even know where to start making sounds and songs, but maybe adding a volume slider would have been great. Other than that, great submission, really fitting the theme!

Developer(+1)

there is a volume slider accessible via main menu if u click on options! the music and sfx was made from scratch by my friend :)

the sound design itself is def a bit wonky, its my first time putting sfx in a game so still much to learn

thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed!

Loved the visuals, the gameplay for me is a little boring, because you don't acctually need to find a right path to finnish the levels, maybe it's just for the records. Completing the game is too simple for the nice idea that the game had behind it. In general was a nice game to play.

Developer

i appreciate the feedback! i did consider a more puzzle-y spin on this idea initialy but didnt have faith in myself to create interesting puzzles in the time frame.

I got 13.23 on the first level!

nice relaxing game. I guess there’s depth to it when chasing records but my gut feeling is that what matters most is finding the “correct” path rather than being super efficient with the cogs. But i might be wrong. Anyways if that is true i think it might have been even more fun if the game telegraphed the intended/fasted path as there’s no great way at the moment to get any overview of the levels.

Solid game!

Developer

i tried to make it so many routes could be viable but there definitely is faster routes, i agree it could be nice to have a way to view the whole level so its easier to know what to try

thanks for playing!!

Really fun, I got 14:51 on the first level. Only comment would be to make the music seamless between levels.

Submitted(+1)

Record is now mine!  13.64 on the first level

Developer (1 edit)

thank you!! i never tested the music on the itch page but it was working for me locally oopsies

A nice and relaxing experience. Even though I didn't know where to go, I always ended up at the finish line. I guess I'm just that good at video gaming. Well done!

Great level design and solid concept. Easy to get in, but there seem to be strategies to optimize your time.

Well done!

Developer

thank you!! tried my best to create many viable paths for a fast time :)
