When that "run" text appeared on screen I was so terrified I refused to move for like 5 minutes. I noticed nothing seemed to chase me so I thought there just wasn't anything to be scared of... well uh... haha I shit myself
Neat game! It's pretty short but the atmosphere is great. The connection to the theme is really loose but I do see the vision. Also when holding the cube it obscured the vision a little too much imo.
Overall though really cool game, good job!
I appreciate the warning about the jumpscare. I'm not a big horror fan, so at least I can be ready about it. (spoiler: I still got jumpscared by it)
Interesting gameplay. It's rare for a horror game to use physics in their gameplay. I think there's a lot of potential here. Though I must say I got a little bit stuck at the end since I don't know how to topple the door like structure. But I managed to figure it out after a few tries.
Another thing that kinda annoys me is how close the cube is to the screen when you're holding it xD. That combined with the horror aspect really kept me on edge, since you don't know if there's a jumpscare waiting for you when you drop the cube.
I can see the correlation between the game and the theme, but with the current state of the game, unfortunately it doesn't really fit well. I can see the vision though.
The art and aesthetic is really nice and atmospheric. I really like how you highlight the movable object with the glow effect, though I figured that out after a while. At first I tried to interact with everything, including the pages and the books xD.
There's really not much audio to rate here, apart from several SFX that's scattered throughout the game. Those are pretty good though. I think a horror game might benefit with a chilling ambience.
There's some really nice atmosphere building here. I was definitely on-edge (despite the chuckle I got from the titles of the books), and even though I knew something was coming, the lone "RUN" on the screen really did give me a chill. I would almost have been tempted not to have a threat there at all, or only show it on the edges of vision / as a sound implying that you're being chased. A really short game, but a really fun experience. Trying to tackle a horror game on a 3-day time budget is a really tall order, and I think you did a really nice job with it. Kudos!
The game creates a nice atmosphere. What a shame it's so short.
It looks and sounds good, but the only chain reaction I see is the last puzzle?
I was able to break the game by picking up the key without the structure falling over and I didn't trigger the jumpscare. And then there was seemingly no way to trigger it after I got the key.
Bonus points for the books on the shelf. Gave me a good chuckle.
I sadly had lots of issues to work around that theme so the few hours i had to make something led me to very few possibilities, I wish I had the idea earlier in the process to make it more complete, but I got to the point where it was like "I have to post something not too much out of the theme", hope I can do better next jam, thanks for playing though !
I only wish you hadn’t warned me about the jumpscare. I love horror games even though jumpscares arent really horror, but the confusion after completing a simple puzzle and the urgency of the RUN text would have led to a really effective surprise lol.
Well in jams I'm a bit more cautious about the trigger warnings, I wouldn't do it for the jumps in a personal creation. I think jumpscares goes absolutely well in horror but it's a skill to master, too much of it just becomes annoying and kills the game indeed ^^ I'll think about more surprise next time :p thanks for playing though !
please let me read how to drink water i really need this information
Wow bro , the art style is very good for this one and i thought you were kidding when you said jumpscare in the end but no , very good game !
My heart bro :o
Even though it was only 3 minutes long it's still pretty fun. The artstyle is quite pretty and the level is nicely built, and overall has a really good vibe, the colors just look nice. With a longer time limit I imagine some ambiance would make this even better. I liked the detail of the books each having their own name too lol. That final sequence made me jump though XD
I couldn't tell this project was restarted 3 times, it feels well made! Great work, wasn't expecting to get scared lol.
Thank you so much !! I would've loved to make more but yeah after 24hrs redoing things I had to keep it shorter :')
L'ambiance est vraiment bien réussie ! Cocasse qu'on puisse résoudre le puzzle juste de la clé juste en sautant pour la récupérer x3
j'aurais dû la mettre plus haute mais le temps était contre moi
:( im scared
