This is my favorite genre of games. Love the strategic card ordering, feels fresh. The dance theme is a great idea, i'm tired of dungeons. But my shield was super overpowered. The enemies barely broke through it. It's because the shield didn't reset between enemies or even rounds. On the other hand it made this play so satisfying

This is a great start to a deckbuilder. I wish I had an option in shops to remove a card from my deck, so I could streamline more.
I love card games, so... Hello, cool game! I opened the game and immediately saw this cool "play a card to hit for x damage" game style. Unfortunately, at the beginning I didn't get the tutorial on what to do and where to click to play the card, so it took me a little while to figure it out. When I finished the battle and found myself in the store, a tutorial on how to play cards started automatically. It was weird, but it wasn't a problem (I recommend checking out how it works for you and how rare my problem is). The game was so good that by the end I felt like I wanted to play some more, you did a great job over these 9 days ^^
Amazing! A couple ui issues and qol stuff but the music and visuals make up for everything.
Qol improvement i'd love: let me click the card to add it :D
Ui issue: the hover tips go off of the screen:

Okay with those aside, the way everything moved to the beat was amazing! I was bobbing my head the whole time I played. This is one of my favorite entries!
Damn Game is too polished for this jam.
I really like how the characters pop with each beat. And also the protag has a different move for each card ??? Sick.
Tho where is my skip button in my reward screen ??? I do want that option if I want to get tactical.
Edit: And I got a victory screen YESSSSS!!!
Get the QoL features ready and this might be a release.
I'm blown away. This is such an impressive game jam entry! It really does feel like the demo to a full release, I'm glad to hear the team has decided to keep working on it!
The only thing I can think to mention (and this is specific to it being for a game jam) is that it didn't feel very retro to me. I really like the premise of 1980s break dancing battles, I wish the character and environment designs really captured that feeling. Addidas jumpsuits, gold chains, headspins on cardboard on a public basketball court, you get it!
Wow, just wow. I am speechless.
First thing, I love the mechanics of the game, with the cassette, and combo mechanics. The music is great, animation is great, everything!
Second, I have a colorblindness a specific one for red-green, thank you. Thank you so much for making it colorblind friendly by adding those hover tags. At first it was difficult, but the designs says it all, and the aspect of what color means.
Some feedback to improve the game if you want any.
A story, an animated story on why I am fighting the rave bosses. There a game very similar called Dicey Dungeons, great game you should look into it.
Different type of characters, have different types of cassettes with different combos.
Different types of bosses, such as jazz, rock, etc. This would be awesome with their unique stages.
Some UI improvements would be viewing the description, sometimes the description of the cassette will be below the margin of the viewable screen. When their is a large amount of text, i cant see the whole text when i hover it. Something that makes it easier to read.
The shop probably need polishing, not sure how since i wasnt on the shop a lot.
and Lastly, please, notify me so i can purchase your game on steam. Or provide me details to continue to follow your group, it was indeed one of the best games I have enjoyed.
Thank you so much for the feedback! we're glad he tooltip is helpful, definitely will improve the design to make it more accessible. We've decided to continue developing the game, so we'll keep all your feedback in mind! For now you can follow my itch page or the game page and we'll notify everyone once we have a twitter set up!
Really nice game! I love the music, the art, and the character poses.
Did you use a rig for the animations? If so, it fits this type of game perfectly. The movement feels really expressive and gives the game a lot of personality.
It's fun! I love the art and the gameplay. I wish Party Duke could stack with itself :p
Also, i think the jump in difficulty from level 3 to 4 might be a bit too much, but maybe I just suck lol.
Crazy ambitious for a game jam game, but I think it paid off; this game is sick and is very fun. This game feels so polished and great to play.
I have two main gripes, but they were mostly small:
1. I liked the normal combat music, but it did get a little repetitive. I think if it was just a longer track I wouldn't have noticed (the boss music also rules).
2. Enemy animations (and player animations too) looked nice but it wasn't really clear when they attacked or performed any other action. The only indication that an attack happened is the health bar going down, which is a bit unresponsive in my opinion.
I'm also voting Yea on the idea of a full release. Great bones for an expanded release!
This is an absurdly good concept, I love this!
The music and art are also fantastic, I ditto the comment below. I would love to see this expanded and put on Steam
I enjoyed the 1980s synthwave dance off vibe, interesting take on a deckbuilder. I wish the cards placement spots were in the lower part of the game, so I didnt have to mouse from bot to top on everything hehe.
