took a while to get going, but when it finally did get going… absolute cinema.

If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?

Is it just me, or do we never get confirmation that the new guy's name is Kevin? This one's really fun, honestly not much bad about it. Some of those attack patterns are really challenging to get down, if your timing is off on the first hit you're liable to eat the following ones
Honestly for the first few minutes palying this game I thought it was very polished but going to waste my time. But having played it all the way through I can say this was a really fun one!
Though, I still think the ramp up of skills could be a little faster, I spent over 35 minutes on it but it didn't feel like there was over 35 minutes worth of game. If it were me I think I would've made the shield cooldown much faster so the player can recover, as it is now you can reach a point of no return if you get the wrong boss pattern and used the shield cooldown too early.
That being said, once you fall into a rhythm the game mechanics start to feel really good, and I was surprised at just how many attack patterns Kevin had!
And the art I honestly found to be just stylized rather than So Bad It's Good, though the overexaggerated anime moments and the fawning girl were kinda fitting for SBIG.
And the sound design is great, most of the effects are just good, but the soundtrack is definitely SBIG. It gives me the same vibes of the whistling song from Deadly Premonition.
Overall this is a little hidden gem of the jam I think, excellent work!
Honestly a pretty crazy game! People are sleeping on this one!
First off, the art is actually beautiful. Honestly the cutscenes and cinematics (especially the ending) is actually stunning!
The gameplay is fun. However I would probably say it does drag on for longer than I would have liked. While I wouldn't say I was bored by the end, I did end up playing for about 45 minutes, which is on the long end for a jam game when progression could be tweaked to be a little faster. (maybe I just wasn't very good at the game though 😂). With that said, I was surprised by the way it developed over time. And the way that I got better over time too!
Maybe the game is not bad enough? I do like the kazoo soundtrack, and there is definitely some SBIG humour in here as well. Though with that said it was a super polished experience.
Anyway! Stunning entry! Thanks for taking part!
Hey, thanks for spending 45 minutes with our game! 😄 That really means a lot. It was our first game jam and our first game, so we definitely overshot the theme a bit. We weren't really sure what "So Bad It's Good" should look like, so we just ended up making the best game we could. Really appreciate the kind words and the feedback on the pacing. We'll definitely keep that in mind for future jams. Thanks again for hosting!
Sadly I couldn't play it cause I'm on vacation, but seems really good!
Hey! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Fair question.
It was our first game jam AND our first game, so we weren't really sure what a "So Bad It's Good" game was supposed to look like in the end. We decided to keep everything as simple as possible: hand-drawn art, intentionally basic music, and animations that were mostly just moving drawings around. That said, I think we ended up overshooting the quality a bit. Memosheart is a very skilled artist and naturally wouldn't go below a certain standard. In the end, we decided to lean into telling a pretty mediocre story in the most epic way we could and fully commit to the bit. I guess you can see a few cracks during the final cutscene, when our energy was definitely starting to run low after a week of development. At the end of the day, games are made to be enjoyed. If people play our game, have fun, and maybe get a few laughs out of it, then I'm more than happy with the result. Thanks for giving it a try! :)
woah this is an amazing game!!! The graphics are very cool and i had tons of fun playing it
