This was actually really fun!
Tutorials were really good (maybe too good!) On the first day however I did just pick up every parcel I could ๐ so was going dreadfully slow up hills. After I realised that mistake, I went for more sensible selection - really cool how the way you plan your route is so important to getting everything delivered!
There are so many references! First off, thanks for including so many references to my previous games in the recipients! Hope you enjoyed trying them! Was trying to work out the other ones. I got the Postman Pat and Kiki's Delivery Service references with jess and the broomstick. I don't think I got the reference to the prosthetic arms or postal locker if they had one - maybe just went over my head ๐
Music fit pretty well and the various sound effects were a nice touch. Wasn't really expecting it to end with a final level so that was pretty neat!
Thanks for taking part, and immersing yourself in prior SBIGJam lore as much as it looks like you did! Well done!
Thanks for playing, and hosting the Jam!
Yeah I did do a bit of balancing as initially if you took all the packages on day 1, your pacing would be completely glacial ๐
Glad you enjoyed the references! In terms of the other items:
This is the first game I've rated this jam and WOW what a strong starter!
I never thought I'd be thinking "wow, this ball movement feels great" but it does! And I really love the sound design of it, really enchances the feel of a marble rolling around.
Combine that with fun physics goofiness in a sort of scaled down Death Stranding esque delivery gameplay loop and this is a VERY solid entry.
I'm genuinely impressed by how simple it feels versus how complex it is. The upgrade options behaving completely differently in away to almost be a little game of their own anc each with their own tutorial is really awesome! The tutorial for a single upgrade alone honestly feels more succinct than tutorials I've implemented in some of my games lol. And the fact the level design and the delivery options allow the player to experiment so heavily is really fun and great!
All the controls were easy to get a handle on and worked well, and the minimap as well as the expand map option was much appreciated. Only quibble I have is the layers of the map not being obvious on the minimap but a proper 3D map would've been beyond my expectations, especially for this jam!
Also absolute kudos for referencing so many old SBIG game characters including some (by my count 5?) of my own! It was very nice to see and genuinely kind of surprising from what seems to be your first SBIG and itch game ever?
This was amazing, excellent work!
Thanks so much for playing!
Really glad that people appreciated the tutorials! It was quite fun coming up with different ways to demonstrate the different abilities, and I think it made me more confident to make the days shorter and more fast-paced (since people hopefully wouldn't need as much time fumbling with controls after playing the tutorial!) It was interesting trying to get that balance right (along with various over balancing! The game has too many mechanics ๐ ).
Thanks for noticing the previous jam references! I actually played through quite a few games before the start of the jam to get a vibe of what I should be making here (and just cheated and looked at the game descriptions for many others). Technically it's not my first itch game (I've done a few jams with friends/colleagues as a team!) but I didn't know how enjoyable it would be working solo! Definitely a nice change of pace from my day job.
genuinely enjoyable experience from start to finish, nice references to previous SBIG games, and overall it just oozes creativity. Great work!
I played this prior to the jam. Lots of fun, great tutorial and I loved the references to past SBIG games. I didn't realize there were multiple layers of buildings, though, and surprised myself with a crazy difficult route on the second day.
Thanks so much for playing! And for noticing the recipient names ๐ It was really fun going back through the history of SBIGJam and looking at some of the old game protagonists! Even seeing some repeating characters. ๐ I do specifically remember downloading and playing part-way through "Ja Wizardman 4" in order to find the full name of "Geralt of Riverwood"!
Yeah a 3D/multi-layer map was initially in the cards, but proved to be a little too ambitious for me ๐ though possibly something I might try to implement post-jam!
If there's a time to go through the backlog and add some callbacks, it's definitely the tenth anniversary jam!
Sadly, your effort to get Giralt's full title right was somewhat for naught, as it's inconsistent throughout the series. It's been Riverwood, Riviera, and Rivia depending on which joke I wanted to make and how much I was willing to push it. Jennifer has always been of Vandenberg though.
Honestly, the lack of a 3D map _almost_ works for SBIG Jam. There's some frustration to it, but it was also kind of funny when it came up.
Fantastic game. Really enjoyed this.
Pat the Postman reference in 2026 is awesome! I loved it as a child! Also, super duper fun game, good job!!
Super fun, super jank, super complete. I mean, you have tutorials and everything! The only thing more fun than watching my friend play this was playing for myself. My one critique is that holding Q while using WASD is absolutely brutal.
I know CSGMesh when I see it
Sadly I wasn't so advanced as to use CSGMesh ๐ I modelled the entire UFO level in Blender and then exported it with '-col' tags!
RIP to my hard read
this was really fun and well made. I hope this is at least top 5 overall
Agreed!
I third this opinion!
I love this game! It's such a nice little adventure! I especially liked how I had to plan my route to actually deliver everything! I also liked the ending a lot!
Thanks so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed!
