Cool game, seems like it has a ton of depth to it. I need to up my sharpshooting skills though - the accuracy to start is super low and I missed 90% of the shots
Great work!
I really enjoyed playing! There's a surprising amount of systems and depth. The accuracy is really bad starting out, like too bad. I thought it was funny at first, but it kinda takes away any sense of control in combat.
I think is a bit of tweaks and polish away from being something really great! Well done!
Thanks. yeah I neglected all the UX and polish to get these systems working with few bugs.
You can wait until the enemy is overheated, and then rush in on them and shoot with your poor accuracy. But I'll probably add a 'stand still' to aim mechanic. Thanks for playing!
Yeah, and running in while they're overheated does make for some tense situations, which is fun. I hope you stick with it! The mechanics and general game loop really are solid
Impressive amount of content for a jam game. Too much stuff presented at once without enough guidance made it difficult for me to get into. I found font hard to read and I couldn't pick up quests because my weapon was shooting instead. Would love to see this game polished further.
Yeah I neglected the UX for getting all these system working, but what's the point if a player cannot even access them! I think I'll spend some time polishing the UX, because the systems are kind of cool.
Thanks for trying.
It’s impressive that you managed to build all of these systems like missions, equipment etc in a week.
There seems to be a nice gameplay loop in there, I just couldn’t get started into it. The pistol is incredibly inaccurate and it’s impossible to hit anything. Even in the GIF you get out of the door and didn’t manage to hit a single bullet before dying instantly.
Also the text was very hard to read.
Yeah I spent all my time in the systems and not in the gameplay.
The GIF did an accurate job of portraying the fantasy -- get into a gun fight and you will probably die! haha
It's an enormous work! Especially for a solo dev!
I wouldn't say game is very retro, and the UI is a bit complicated, but it's a cool game and a great work done.
I spent too much energy on these systems and not enough on polishing and gameplay and balancing and UX. I didn't even make a menu screen! I think I'll try to clean a lot of things up over the next few weeks.
Thanks for playing
Really cool game. I see the love and ambition for sure!
I struggled a bit with the interactions and menus at first, but I kind of think that adds to the charm of it being a retro NES inspired game.
Overall really great submission! :)
Thanks. Yeah the whole UI is a big mess, but I'm glad you eventually saw it as charming. I never made it to that perspective. haha
Wow, quite a lot of content in here for a game jam entry! I'm sure I missed a lot of things...
Congratulations on your submission! Enjoyed playing your game.
Great Game!! and wait did you use a PICO-8 font or im just not noticing what font it is??
The font is called Unibody 8 small caps. When you're working with so few pixels I expect there are only so many variations on a capital P or B haha
Thanks for playing!
Definitely a bit tricky navigating the UI/interacting with elements at times, and 100 quests is a bit intense of a goal for me. But a lot of cool tech/attention to detail, and I had fun.
Haha yeah 100 is a lot.
there is no ending so I hope nobody does 100!
Neat game! There are a lot of fun mechanics here, and the loop of going on quests, powering up, then going on harder quests is engaging. Though, it does feel like the game could have used some more dev time, particularly with regards to the UI (it would be nice to be able to cancel out of selecting a quest or a map, for example). There was also the meter at the bottom middle of the screen that I didn't know the meaning of.
Oh, and I like how I can somehow use a rock to regenerate health 🪨
Yeah I over scoped this project! Too many systems and not enough time to make them all QoL and pretty. Thanks for playing.
Cool Game!
