The concept of the game is immediately a lot of fun! It reminds me of Mega Man Battle Network if combined with Touhou - and it plays just as well.

The visuals also stood out a lot. The floating animations are fun to watch, and I was impressed by the way that the speech bubbles follow the characters as they float. That's not something that I see every day - and on top of that, the background details are a fun easter egg.

I can tell that you two really enjoyed making this, and it shows. Incredibly well done!

Super cute game! The art is very expressive and well animated, gameplay gets quite hectic but it's definitely learnable, definitely worth a play!

Moving the character around in a grid format is really interesting, and using what each character is known for as the mechanics makes it all the more fun. The background really stuck out to me with all the characters being shown (I thought Cirno was an enemy for a split second lmao).
Having the head pop off on the taking damage surprised me (haha), but it also made me curious if there were more segments were you would want to do it on purpose. Overall, I really enjoyed the game (and Kogabanki)!

This is really damn' good. A simple gameplay loop polished well, and it provides a really good challenge. I'm also a sucker for whenever fusion songs appear in Touhou works, so that jumped out to me as well.

It revealed i have a chronic skill issue. and i dont know how i feel about that.
All jokes aside this was an incredibly fun and engrossing game to play, My only issue i guess is that o got confused with which button does what. Admitly that also might be partaily a skill issue as well, though i might have liked a tutorial bit that  prompts the button. Though even thats a nit pick as honestly the game does kind of do that,(Just wish it wouldn't tell me about the use of detaching and reatching the head while half the squares were being blown up lol)
Okay, but real now, this game is great. Love the visuals, the music, the funny background , and the gameplay is pretty nice too. Good job on this one!

Developer

That's a great point actually, it's not something we really thought about, how the popup would appear probably in a very hectic situation, instead of what we envisioned of getting hit early on in the level, so that's totally on us!

But we are very glad you found it so fun! Thank you!

Also, not a skill issue, it was the controller, trust.

Great concept and really fun gameplay. I thought the balancing was mostly fine but a bomb would be very useful when it gets very chaotic. I also applaud you for also making your game available in Spanish. I thought ours might be the only one haha.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Very glad to know you had fun!

Yeah, maybe a bomb, or a similar mechanic would have been cool, allowing to use it maybe once or twice during the whole stage as a panic button.

And of course! The more people that can enjoy the game, the better! I was also happily surprised when I saw your team's game available in spanish, I remember telling Kayo about it.

I love the gameplay, it feels incredibly smooth to play (..not in browser tho, but that's probably the browser's fault). the music is great as well, very similar in vibe to the actual touhou shmups, as much as I also didn't realize alice's theme is mashed up in there lol. the art is nice, especially the attention to detail with the encounters between other characters in the background.

I do appreciate the continues, however without them I feel like the balancing would be a bit off (during some of the hectic parts it really feels like you're getting stunlocked, since you lose the head -> shooting is all messed up -> more dolls come in; I do really like the concept of sekibanki's head flying off somewhere when she's hit, but I think it'd be nice to create a bit of a buffer, like the closest few dolls running off, kinda like bullets disappearing when you're hit in touhou shmups), so as much as I enjoy the mechanics, I'm probably not gonna try for a no-continue run.

other than that - very solid, would be super cool to see this style of gameplay in a longer-form game with a bit more gradual rise in difficulty. and as a banki-banki fan, really appreciate a game about her :)

Developer

I will never forgive the browser!

Thank you so much, it makes us happy that you enjoyed it so much!

It's definitely a bit hard to grasp the difficulty level once you've played the game enough so it kinda becomes second nature, so it's something that we'll pay more attention to in future projects, for sure!

Thanks again for checking it out!

Is a little bit chaotic, sometimes I didn't know what I was doing or how I was avoiding damage, but at the end I was able to make it through the end. I'm glad the game is not vert punishing. I think the idea is there but there's definitively room for improvement. Regardless I had great time with it, I enjoyed moving around and playing with the head, and just having messing around with the game, later on I was calling Kogasa every time to help me out since I didn't figure out that early on. So, overall I really had tons of fun.

The art is very expressive an it sells the impact and the adrenaline of the moment so I was always invested. I loved the little details like the tail of the text bubble following Sekibanki.

My favorite part: The music is fantastic, Marisa's theme is a banger and then the mixup of Kogasa and Sekibanki made the deal for me.

Developer

Thank you so much! We are very glad you had fun and enjoyed it!

The music was made in an attempt to represent both couples, so the first one is a mash up of Alice's Romantic Children and Marisa's Magus Night, hence the name Romantic Magus,  while the second one is a mashups of Sekibanki's DDC theme and Kogasa's UFO theme.

The protagonist couple's theme was made attempting to intertwine their motifs together, and even playing at the same time during parts of the song, in an attempt to indicate that they are really in synch and working together as a couple. Meanwhile, for the antagonist couple's mash up, I avoided to overlap their motifs in an attempt to indicate that maybe they aren't as synchronized as Sekibanki and Kogasa, and they are merely fighting alongside each other, and not necessarily fully together as a couple.

All of this to try and empower the protagonist's through the music and make them feel stronger as a couple than Alice and Marisa in the triumphant finale. And I'll take you recognizing it as just Marisa's theme as a success!

Excellent, I think my only complaints are that there isn't a reason to place Seki's head somewhere ourselves, besides in a few niche cases (that require knowledge in advance), and that Kogasa feels a bit stiff to use, if that makes any sense.

Developer

Thank you so much for checking the game out!

I assume the stiffness you describe about Kogasa is due to the delay before you can call her again? There are definitely some kinks that could be ironed out!

I really liked the concept for this entry, the danmaku race to the finish, the teamwork elements, but I really struggled on the gameplay unfortunately. I really enjoyed the art and music, the visual gags in the background were  really entertaining, but having to continue more than once because of the difficulty spike felt bad. overall I had fun though, nice work!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, it's pretty tough to get introduced and used to the gameplay in just the 10 minutes it takes to complete, that's why continues don't really do anything other than reset the points, but I can see why having to continue a lot can get frustrated! Thanks again for taking the time to play it and enjoying all the little details <3!!!

The presentation is very cohesive and appealing, especially the little animations the characters have, which I think is the strongest part. The gameplay is unique and interesting, but the Kogasa aspect felt like the weak part.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We're glad you found it enjoyable!

It took me a couple of tries to 1-CC the game, I scored 1796450 points. The game is great, it feels like a traditional Touhou game while also being original, the art is amazing, the music is even better and the difficulty is perfect.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for the praise! ;;
