Saw you had a rhythm game so I had to play it! (I made a rhythm game too). Took a while to get into the groove, but once I got pretty far, I started vibing. The arrow inputs work way better than the mouse in terms of nailing the beats, I like the rogue like elements of adding to the sequencer, nice execution overall!

Developer

Thank you! Always cool to see another rhythm game submission, I'll check your's out!

This is a pretty neat concept! Unfortunately I was not very good at it :( I think a synced up bgm would have also elevated the game a lot!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I've been getting mixed thoughts on the difficulty. There's an easy timing mode in the settings if you haven't tried that out and want to. (I'm thinking I probably should have made that the default lol). I would have loved to add a background track, but unfortunately my compositional talents are nonexistent lol.

This is a very interesting rhythm game concept! Some of the button SFX can be too loud and jarring at times though.

Developer

Thanks! You should be able to adjust the volume of the SFX in the settings, but yeah I didn't have time to make sure everything was perfectly balanced.

This is a really fun rhythm game! I felt like the calibration screwed me a bit cause after putting it back at 0 it felt way better to play. I love being able to choose where you put the upgrades and kinda make your own beat. Thanks for making this game!

Developer

You're welcome! And thank you for playing it!

This game is addictive. XD I liked that the tutorial was good and explained everything in a fun way.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I spent probably too much time on the tutorial lol.

Good tutorial is important. Especially for small games made for game jams. I should have listened to my own advice though. :)

I love rhythm games and this was a really unique idea. Was fun and very satisfying to play

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked it!

Interesting concept. A few rounds in it is almost as if I am composing a song with different instruments. On my first round the auto-calibration actually completely messed up my timing to a point I cannot get any one tick right. It got much better after manually resetting the calibration to 0.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, the calibration is a bit iffy sometimes. It seems to help some people and not others - I think its an issue with it being on the web. That's why I gave so many options to change it, which I'm glad you took advantage of!

Really cool game, love a good rhythm game

Developer

Thanks!

Really cool concept, and I'm a sucker for a rhythm game!  Great work!

Developer

Thank you!

Nice cute game! I wish there was a bit more of a way to make decisions in this game, since I ended up just always going tock tick tick tick repeatedly, and it seems a bit hard to manipulate the countdown during a round since it goes so fast.

Developer

Yeah, if I had had more time to work on it creating more variation in the player's optimal inputs would be the thing I focused on, for sure. Thanks for the feedback!

I love rhythm games so this was great! Really liked the usage of the theme, plus the fact that all upgrades added another intrument to the mix was sooo good. Nice stuff!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I appreciate it!

I couldn’t get into this one, the calibration was all over the place even after connecting my headphones via aux instead of bluetooth, even with the easy timing window on it felt more precise than Lockstep and I could not get past round 2.

…I blame the fact that it’s a web build. web builds have been giving me trouble recently.

Developer (1 edit)

Thats too bad, I'm sorry to hear that. There is an easy mode in the settings with a much wider timing window if you want to try that out? You can also try manually adjusting the offset as well. But yeah, it seems like people have a varying amount of success with the timing. Thanks for taking the time to play it though!

Submitted(+1)

I tried both of those, unfortunately it just wouldn’t work.

The calibration also sometimes said I was off by -2000ms… and other times I was off by 60ms, or 120ms, or etc.

Developer

yikes, yeah I don't know what the issue is there. Normally if its off for me at least, it stays relatively consistent. Now I'm thinking I should have added a downloadable to help dodge all the issues that come with browser stuff...
Thanks for trying, at least!

Creative and well designed!
I especially like how the menu buttons beat too lol

Developer

Thanks, I'm proud of that little detail

Very cool idea! It's not easy hah. You should try to develop this further after the event, when you have more time :D

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I know it can be challenging, which is why I added an easy mode in the settings, but I think I didn't advertise it well enough lol.

I really liked the concept! Good job!

Developer

Thanks!

Simple but as rhythim game lover this is sooo good! Loved the upgrades and rougelike elements! So much fun! :)

Glad you liked it!

A great rhythm entry! I like how the core of it was kept nice and simple with complexity given with the upgrades. I'm quite impressed with the inclusion of being able to replay your rhythm as well, and the game itself was responsive and felt good to play. Tutorial was well made, but I feel it could be improved by spacing information out by giving the player time to test mechanics introduced - for me it was a little bit of too much information at once and a lot of it ended up being me figuring things out as I went. Game was also quite artistically clean and consistent, I think there's lots you can do with this post jam.

Great work! Rhythm games are not easy to make especially for a jam :)

Developer

Thanks so much for the thoughtful critique! Especially after how much effort you put into your game :). I agree with your note on the tutorial - I probably should have had some friends look at it to see if it was doing its job right. Thanks for the compliments on the art! What you saw was about the extent of my art skills in terms of detail/complexity, so I'm glad it turned out looking good at all. Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing Hickory in the winners!

A fun game, with a surprising amount of depth.

Even after calibration (and on a very low latency audio interface) I still felt out of sync, an issue I don't normally have with Rhythm games. Perhaps I'm just very bad at this particular one >.<

It's very run regardless though! I feel like implementing a music system might make the game more enjoyable then it already is.

Developer

Thanks! If only I knew how to make music lol. Yeah, the syncing is touch and go sometimes - you can adjust it manually in the settings, or you can turn on the easy timing windows option, and not have to worry about being a little off.

This is awesome nice game !

Developer

Thank you!

Like others, i also missed the tutorial to begin with. i guess our instinct is always just to press "play" first thing we do haha! I was admittedly still a bit confused after playing the tutorial, unsure if it was because it was unclear or too long, but i definitely had forgotten or misremembered most of it when i started actually playing. When i finally figured it out, it was definitely an interresting concept for a rythm game, and i really appreciate the inclusion of the calibrating tool. Overall really nice!

Developer

Thanks for playing it! Yeah, Its a bit of a rule heavy game, for sure. so I get the confusion!
