Loving the retro style. FPS things are solidly done. Losing time instead of HP when getting hit is a good idea! And surprisingly, three different enemy variations introduced one by one.  Seems to run out of time for the skeleton actions? Or maybe it's a matter of lacking a bit of SFX for the enemy movement, I think it's still needed especially when in an FPS I can't look at every dir the same time. And also if the watch were making ticking nosie especially when getting hit and decrementing, that would be sick. But hey, incredible work for a four-day solo.

Amazingly well polished, love the art, will actually come back to play through full game!!

Love the graphics and audio a lot! The retro styling fits perfectly, and the gameplay loop is very fun and unique. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving a positive comment :)

Sick game, a cool change of pace from a lot of the other games i've played so far :D I like it !! It's a simple but fun shooter game

Developer

Thank you so much :D

I’m a fan of shooter and FPS games and I have to say i really had fun playing this game. Everythings was smooth, i loved how the dash worked and the shooting was on point. And i thinks the music added some spicy and made me feel some tension while playing. Well done man!

Developer

Thanks for the compliments! Glad to hear you enjoyed the music!

Submitted (1 edit)

Very smooth and fun. This is the most similar game I found to the one I made I hope you check it out. Also I wish I had that hand in clock idea lol

Submitted

also I need to say It barely runs on web I had to download and it became a much smoother experience I had the same problem as well with my game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I am also dissatisfied with the technical state of the web version. Godot enforcing the compatibility renderer and only running on one core made things surprisingly difficult.

Submitted

Really cool game. Me and my friends actually debated doing something with a vampire count but ended up on something else. I really like the music and the graphics are nice, but there's an annoying bug where my view just launches in a random direction every so often and I couldn't figure out what caused it.

Overall really good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing :)
I think that mouse bug is an interplay between Itchs mouse control and godots forced mouse mode. The web build in genral was a lot of trouble sadly :(

For a solo project in four days this is pretty good! Everything from the gameplay to visual style is very retro, and gives me very new-era boomer shooter vibes. I like what this game is putting down, and the end result is surprisingly in depth for such a short span of time.

The sound design and enemy responsiveness could do with a bit of work, but it's pretty good as is, and serves as a really solid prototype. My only critique was the shotgun being a single projectile - it might've made more sense as a silver bullet revolver or something? - but that's a real nitpick.

All in all - really fun shooter! Nice work.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Thats exactly what I was going for! But you are right. I was quite sad, that I didn't find the time to add enemy sounds and other little things in there. Also only having 3 enemy types is a bit boring, but the best I could do. I would have loved to add more though!

Submitted

I feel that - I wasn't able to get sounds for enemies reintegrated in mine by deadline either. Three enemy variations is a solid enough number though, especially if you've got each filling a unique niche.

I think the enemy type spread you have right now is pretty solid as-is, and works pretty well! With polish it'll definitely hit the mark.

Really cool game! Loved the art style! Very good lil shooter :3

Developer

Thank you :D

the game impressed me the gameplay is good the ost the art i feel only that i need to reaload the gun manually was confusing but it's ok

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Auto reload in shooter games is in my opinion always weird. Some players absolutley hate it and other really want it. In the end it came down to my personal preference here. This way it feels a little bit more deliberate. Otherwise you just spam shoot with a brief pause in between. This way you have to press R, which makes moving a tiny bit more difficult and in order to have maximum efficiency, you shouldn't leave non fired rounds in the magazine. In my opinion ,missing auto reload, adds more than it removes.

Actually you are right after thinking I really liked how you think about this thing

NGL this game was quite fun, I think you did a great job of making the movement and gunplay feel good. I think the timer on the levels wasn't my favorite mechanic and for the most part was something ignored while playing. The actual shooter element was well done though and ran very smoothly on my machine. Excellent work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing :D

So you didn't pick up the little hourglasses and always made it through the levels without them?

Submitted (1 edit)

It's not that I didn't pick them up, its more that it felt like as a player it wasn't something actively on my mind while playing. If you took out the level timer you'd still be left with a very competent shooter and much of the game you have wouldn't change. I guess the point I'm attempting to make is that the timer mechanic felt like it wasn't as polished as the rest of the gameplay. I didn't find it changing the way I played very much and for the most part I didn't really think about it while playing the game. That's not to say it ruined my experience or anything, like I said the highlight of the game was how satisfying moving around the map  and shooting enemies was. I just felt like the timer was more put in place to satisfy the theme requirement more so than it being a core mechanic of the game. Either way, I enjoyed playing through it (This was one of the only game jam games I've played so far all the way to the end) and just wanted to elaborate on my criticism a bit more.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for explaining it further! I was just courious :D

Uuu i like the game! (with no obvious inspirations of course). Very fun little doom like game and i enjoyed killing rats lmao. It took a bit of time to figure out tha tmy health was my time but that's okay it's not that easu to get tagged when you play a lot of first person beat em all anyway lmao.

I like the word play "the count is down" at the end, it reminded me of a french game/anime (Dofus/Wakfu) character named "Count Harebourg". "Comte Harebourg" sound exactly like "Compte à rebours", which means countdown lmao.

Very polished and fun game good job!

Developer

I know Dofus, but I didn't know that! Haha! Thanks for sharing and for playing :)

Nice shooter game and art. A button to lock the mouse on the screen would be good.

Developer

It should lock the mouse automatically when clicking into the game. Itch itself makes it somewhat difficult to have the mouse always focused.

But thanks so much for playing!

Wow! Really great job with the game! I really enjoyed playing it! The movement and shooting mechanics feels really great!

It looks stunning as well. Really well polished and nice looking art! I loved the intro cutscene in the beginning just showing off the level. The count in the end had a funny face as well, it made everything feel very hand-crafted and full of character. Well done!!!

Developer

Thank you very much for your positive feedback :)

Amazing solo entry! I have played shooters like this, so it was really easy to pick it up. The mechanics were clear, but one thing I would improve later is to give a sound cue when the timer is running out. I didn't realise that's why I lost at first in the final fight.

Developer(+1)

There is actually a ticking sound that starts to get louder the closer you are to death. I guess it is too subtle, but that is something I can improve later.

Thanks for playing!

Was struggling a bit at the beginning but a friend of mine then showed me how these retro shooters are supposed to be played. Afterwards it felt really awesome to play!

Developer

Glad you have such a good friend!

And thanks for playing :)

pretty cool game, i love the movement system, but the shooting was a little unsatisfying imo, overall pretty good game tho!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Do you mind sharing what you would improve to make the shooting more satisfying?

Submitted

This feels so good to play omg, please make more levels and/or develop this further into a proper release. The movement is so nice, the shooting feels good, just awesome overall

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Maybe I will continue it! Let's see what the future holds

Submitted

Timer like a hp, funny idea
But this narrative is awesome! =D

Developer

Thanks for playing :D

Duuuuude that is so fun! Simple, intuitive and a full experience, would definitely jam again

Developer

I am glad you had fun! Thanks for playing and the kind words!
