How does your game fit the theme?
In my game you have a timeframe where you will have to finish the level.

What a great use of limited space!

(Damn you, Level 6 right-side collider—it took me forever to beat it, but I didn't stop until I did, hahaha)

That was a fun and interesting idea, great job

Such a creative premise! I had a lot of fun even with a small demo like this, and the game felt responsive. The levels felt polished which I wasn't expecting for such a short time frame, nice work!

This is so cool! The grid background is very helpful and the screenshake and start screen are awesome!! Nice level design too :)

Nice game !

Fun memory based platformer! The grid background helps a ton with remembering where stuff is. Good design!

Nice game!

It was fun and and has great level design.

Some levels felt a bit impossible but it was great that you included the level selector so I could move on and see the rest of the game.

I like it, it has those 2010 flash games vibes. It especially reminded me of "The World's Hardest Game". It was cute, haha!

Thanks everybody for the nice comments, I will probably keep working on this game and make the game easier to understand, remake the orb hitboxes and create more easier levels to make the learning curve not as steep. I will probably add a more good looking UI for the countdown like a bar @deltaqyto suggested and make more settings so you can choose when the screenshake will trigger. Thanks again for all the nice comments, I didn’t believe that so many people would play and comment on my game, huge thanks :D

Hey this is really cool! From the top, I love that the main menu is not only interactive but that you need to use the character to select the options. I haven't seen those together anywhere else in the jam (mine is interactive but uses normal buttons lol).
Like @mamu has noted below, the use of a background grid is a really good choice for giving a stable reference frame, I often found myself counting tiles to keep track of where to be going.
I couldn't really get a hang of the purple crystals and I'm really glad you added a skip for the few I couldn't get the jumps on.
I think the main note I have is to give a more clear visual difference in the memorise and play states - perhaps change the background colors or a countdown bar to make that more clear, since its pretty normal for players to tunnel-vision when first playing.

Great stuff!

Great submission! Very cool idea, I enjoyed it!

The checkerboard background was a great subtle method of giving the player information without it being too obvious!

Awesome. Keep creating new games.

You seem to have a good idea of how to create levels. If you want to you can create some levels in my Leveleditor of my game. In our game you can create community levels and publish them and send me the Level code so i can play them too

Developer

that sounds fun!

this is my first five out of five in enjoyment! the idea is so simple but still makes for a fun challenge, the orbs and stuff also reminded me of geometry dash so extra points lol, but if this is your first game jam then im very impressed, amazing work!

Great job Corash! I first learned Game Maker when I was 12 and I was never able to make anything as fun and polished as this (in fact my submission is the first game I've ever finished lol).

I agree with others that the game gets pretty difficult around Level 6 when the purple orbs are introduced. Still, I had a lot of fun and think you have a bright future ahead of you!

Congratulations!

I think the screen shakes a little bit too much on hitting the ground and the pixel sizes need to be equal (e.g. the player pixel size is different to the pixel size of the ball/double jump thingie), but other than those, this is an incredible game!

For someone who is 12 years old, this is insanely impressive. You certainly have a knack for level design and game feel - for example making the screen shake on every landing, and making the background a checkerboard pattern so that you never get lost are very smart decisions, as well as your ability to string together 20 whole levels that feel completely unique. It's astounding. You could have probably integrated the theme a bit better, and the game does get a bit too hard at times (I would suggest making the purple orbs a bit more consistent), but overall it's very fun and a GREAT start. I would tell you what games I was making at 12 years old to compare, but I would be way too embarrassed.

I had good fun playing this, I love memory games. Great level design :) Congrats on your first game jam!

Wow, what an impressive game for a first game jam! I hope you enjoyed the experience of participating and publishing a game :).

I really enjoyed the gameplay loop, it's simple at first, but it quickly becomes addictive. The new game ingredients you gradually introduce do a great job of keeping the experience engaging and adding variety to the challenge. Great work!
