Pure speedruning experience. Feels good to play, good job ! Nice touch to add different objectives in levels.

Very Fun !! the Wall jump allow for a lot of movement. I recommand !!

Thanks for the game !

WOW what a captivating and intense game! I really liked this concept and this game kept me hooked

The game is very interesting, and the art style is appealing! Personally, I found the controls and movement a little difficult to get used to. This slight inconvenience feels even more impactful when the cost of making a mistake in this game is so high))) Overall, I really liked it. Congrats on the submission!

Submitted

I was fighting the controls the whole time (I use my right hand for movement and my left for actions) so I couldn't finish it but it was a neat experience!

Developer(+1)

massive oversight to not add controls to the arrow keys, sorry about that!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun game! I do think the movement could have been polished a lot more, both visually and feel wise, but it mostly needs some number tweaks in my opinion, like making the dash go further and jump slightly higher.

Other than that, I like the 1:30 timer across the entire game concept (something our game also uses), the gameshow theme is fun and overall the game has a lot of potential, good job!

I love the idea of different objectives for each room, it fits for the idea of a game show!

A good example of a speed-running game..

I’m really shit at it tho

Submitted (1 edit)

The game is kind of enforcing the speedrunning flow, and it can be a bit frustrating for people to restart from the very beginning. Games like Geometry Dash solve this by providing a practice mode - so you would play the game with checkpoints first, then start making actual runs (it's actually how speedrunners do it as well lol!)

Additionally, player's interaction with environment should be a bit better - sometimes enemy hitboxes or appearing lasers felt unfair. But the movement felt nice, no complains in this regard. I actually went ahead and gave a couple of more attempts after completing the game, managed to finish it in 58 seconds!

Developer

really appreciate the feedback. we realised on Sunday that the gameplay loop was way too hard, but didn't have any strong ideas on how to fix it minus increasing the countdown timer, which we were hesitant to do because we wanted to try and make the loop revolve around slowly improving your time.

a practice mode or similar would've been a perfect solution for this and I wish we had thought of it, but alas, we did not. glad you enjoyed the movement as we put a lot of focus there and I know it can feel floaty but I like to think it's a controllable floaty. good job on 58 seconds, you're now the 2nd fastest player to complete the game (that I know of)!

...and I took it personally! There's some room for optimization, especially in Stage 3, but I'm no speedrunner:

Developer

fking awesome man, nice run. glad to see people enjoying beating the game as much as i do, you have thrown down the gauntlet and i shall rise up to this challenge

thats actually crazy

Neat concept. I think for this type of game to work, the "movement feel" of the game needs to be fluid. Then you have great opportunity for player expression

Imanex's co-jammer here! He meant "not responsive enough". I guess I could agree? For a platformer of this kind of pace, it does feel a bit floaty.

Submitted

Wow I thought my platformer was brutal haha. Really fun though, well done!

Nice little platformer !

It's fun and very tricky. I really like that you can take multiple routes to do the same thing but in faster ways. I also like the look and plot of the game, too.

I like the artwork and the setting, I definitely felt like the time pressure, except that I'm terrible at platformers. Could just be me but the hurt detection box seems a bit wide? I made it to the fuse level after probably like 30 attempts, but from what I could see it was pretty fun!

Developer

The detection box that’s responsible for killing the player is a bit smaller than the sprite itself but the one responsible for whether you jumped on an enemy is wider to give players more of a chance Thank you you!

Submitted(+1)

Few this is hard! Nice little platformer, congrats on your entry!

Submitted(+1)

Man, I suck at this game! Seems like I have a talent to run into every enemy!

Developer

It is a bit challenging at the start but as you play you figure out what to do and not do Thank you for review!

I fear no man, but that thing scares me

Submitted(+1)

I'm a great example of how not to play the game.
It keeps getting better though, so that's a good sign!

Developer(+1)

We wanted the game to be challenging at the start then as you die you learn what to do and not do. Perhaps made it too strong though lol Thanks for the feedback

I don't think it was bad necessarily, don't worry too much about it. I'm just bad 😉
