Damn this is hard, but I loved it so much! Such a cool take on this jam, great work!
I love turn based combat for exactly this reason, stewing in thought process of what to do next. Very refreshing in a game jam full of real time timers running down. Super creative implementation of a classic rpg combat situation!
Wait, what?! The dragon can do 9999 damage, give me a break.
Fun game, I was hoping to beat it but alas. Cute art, great combat puzzle, and just enough combat options to keep it interesting. I do wish my allies did something after surviving a turn. Bunch of useless teammates, lol.
As a long time mmo enjoyer, i found this game endlessly charming. The scenario and gameplay is hilarious and fun, had a blast playing but sadly couldn't beat it after many tries (i got to last turn but used the revive potion early 😭)
I'll give the creativity and narrative high marks, haha.
But some of the dragon's attacks are unbalanced.
Fun game!
Ok this one got me. Playing the healer who's the only one left standing, with the dragon's HP bar doubling as the timer, is such a good framing. You can't win by hitting it, you just have to still be there at the end, and that changes how every single turn feels. The mana economy is tight in the best way, I kept going back and forth between Meditate and Heal like it was an actual decision. What I never managed to work out was the burn. I could see the number on the icon changing but I never understood how it connected to the damage I was taking, so I just kept casting Heal and slowly losing ground anyway, from about 1050 down to 520 before it got away from me. One line somewhere explaining what that status actually does would have let me play it properly instead of guessing. The dragon is great and the portraits have a ton of personality.
This is such a creative direction to take. I spent so long crafting trategies but the best i managed was reaching the last turn without the revive, or reaching the second phase with the revive but struggling to get through the claws. Amazing premise and great game!!!
As a support-main this game hits too close to home. Too many times have I been in this exact situation, so I felt prepared and managed to beat it after a few tries!
Fun puzzle, built on a creative interpretation of the theme and a lot of homemade sprites that add a ton of personality. Lovely game.
(I am actually working on a healing game myself, if you want to try it)
Great art, funny & original concept, but damn is it hard lmao. i didn't get far, but i still enjoyed my time with this game :3
Great game overall, I escpecially liked the art and audio design. This was one of the games that better fit the theme in my opinion. Yet if I had to criticize I'd have to critize the dragons attacks being the same in every playthrough. Yet its hard to say that thats completely a bad thing, as it allowed for more control in the gameplay. One thing that i really didn't like was the last attack. The obligation to save the eternal mushroom to the end is a smart addition, but an anoying one for the newcomer. When I got to the end and saw the dragon deal 9999 damage i imidiatly knew what to do but still was kinda frustrated that i had to do the whole thing from the start.
We wanted the final attack to make you rethink your whole run yeah! But it ended up being hard enough to get to the end at all so I get the frustration lol
