Great game, but the interpretation was a bit loose

How does your game fit the theme?
You can cast spells to bring targets DOWN. A certain upgrade requires you to COUNT your DOWNs to trigger it.

Apart from it not being the best use of the theme, I do love this concept and it makes for a great game with lots of potential!
Awesome pixel art! The game mechanics was smoothly introduced throughout the entire game and each new platforming/combat challenge really felt like a natural progression from the previous one. Using the upwards cast on yourself to get to the higher platform was a really cool moment imo
A beautiful pixel-art game—quite fun, well-polished, and with incredible potential!
The game is interesting, doesn't really fit the theme at all but still impressive for 4 days. Good job!
Nice visuals and polished gameplay! I really liked the bosses, although the blue one was a bit easy to cheese by just spamming on it when it landed on the spikes. I agree with the other comments though that the new ability was super confusing. Otherwise I still had fun! I do think the link to the theme was rather weak though.
Great puzzles and great physics ! Really good stuff. One thing though :

Maybe a different button for the other ability ?
I agree that activating the upgrade is a little awkward (some other commenters have brought it up as well), but it's how I tried to fit the game to the theme (you have to COUNT your DOWNs to trigger it), so I couldn't really bind it to another button. If this were a non-jam game I definitely would have had a different button for each.
Thank you for playing!
I really like the simplicity of the main mechanic and still its many uses. The sounds and music blend well with the artwork. Its only flaws I found is that the orange boss sometime does an unpredictable attack sideway, and the first green boss can be cheesed easily by just spamming it.
I would really like to see more of this mechanic.
This game is so good! Playing your game makes me think I should put more time into level design. Btw, do you plan to make this into a full game later?
Probably not; I don't personally think the main mechanic is interesting enough that I'd be able to get a full game's worth of mileage out of it, and I have other projects I'd rather work on. That said, if you want something with a similar concept, you could try an older non-jam game of mine called Ups and Downs, which has a similar gravity-switching mechanic (Downcast's mechanic is somewhat inspired by it.)
Thank you for playing!
Fun game, interesting mechanic, and nice art! I do wish that the yellow slime boss telegraphed its different attacks better though, as I wanted to dodge its arena-wide charge with my super jump but was never prepared
Nothing better than hitting those flying eye-fish! Controls felt so nice, smth I aspire for fs fs!
