Short ‘n sweet game! I was pretty confused at first until I discovered the strat of simply platforming on the platform I’m dragging, which was really funky actually! Really nice game, made it in 62s. The timer isn’t as harsh as other people say here, to be honest I’ve only had to die a handful of times to get it right, which I believe is the point anyway. More levels would’ve been nice though, or some graphics.

Developer

Thanks :)

Admittedly not an intentional strat, but I just left it in cause I didn't know how to patch it out lmao

And I unfortunately didn't have time to make more levels or improve the graphics

Wait this is such a creative idea omg lol. I've never seen a platformer where you can control a platform with the mouse! It was so cool jumping across the map and catching myself! Or climbing up a wall continuously up into the air! This is literally probably the most creative use of the theme I've seen so far. Very nice!

Developer

Thanks :)

But how can you say my game has the most creative use of the theme, when your game exists lmao (I loved it so much)

Neat short game! It's a bit hard to get used with the controls at first with the tight timing, but I managed to clear all 3 levels after realizing you could move the countdown block along with the player.

Thanks :)

I did try to make the timing lenient, but I guess playtesting the timer when already knowing how to beat the level was not gonna help much

Also that was not the intentional way to beat the level (I intended to have you rotate the block vertically and wall jump from it to reach the exit) but I guess it works lol

what other said.. its not really a puzzle game, when you are under pressure to complete the level in X seconds while needing to juggle a few things, using wasd means im using my left hand to play, while using my right hand to jump, which hand is controlling the mouse? would have been easier to play if there is no timer~

Developer

Fair enough, the timer only exists cause I wanted to add some amount of difficulty

And also I use my left hand for WASD as well as space, and right hand for mouse, so I kinda built the game with that mindset, but I see how that doesn't apply for everyone

Made in 72.78s! Thought, I actually struggled in the final level. Would be extra nice if you had a bit of extra time per level. I had to retry a few times to better optimise the level so I could finish on time, but the optimization part was interesting aswell.

Loved that you can use the platforms while still moving them, specially walljumping.

Nice mechanic and i loved the music too. Congrats on the game!

Developer

Thanks :)

The optimisation part is kinda what I was going for tbh

I can't really say the game is bad by any means. I actually like the idea of the game more than a lot of the other games in the jam, but I think the execution was a bit rough in some areas. Here are a few things I'd like to mention:

  1. The player feels a bit floaty.
  2. It wasn't obvious to me at first that the player is controlled with WASD instead of the arrow keys.
  3. The artwork seems a bit rushed.
  4. The timer feels a bit excessive and mostly just adds pressure. The collectible sequence already counts down by itself, so I think it fits the theme well enough without the timer.
  5. Wall jumping still uses normal gravity instead of sliding down the wall. I don't know if that's intentional, but it made wall jumps harder for me at first.

Overall, pretty good work. These are mostly personal opinions, so don't feel like you need to change them if they go against your vision for the game.

Also, the music is pretty ear-catching I must say

Developer

Thanks :)

1 and 5. Yeah I kinda just made a platformer character without spending much time in making it feel better

2. Fair enough, I forgot to explain the controls in the game

3. That's cause it is, lmao

4. I did wanna add a slight amount of pressure, but I did try making the timer values generous enough to only make you take a few attempts per level

What an awesomely designed game! Love so many of the ideas here, mainly a platformer with far faster side motion then verticaland then the combination of Needing to hit the keys in a specific order, and the puzzle of needing to move platforms around before all of the keys are taken, in order to use the final platform. Loved the music as well, super catchy

Great game, I want to play more levels now!
