I liked the game idea, but I found the detection zone of the cards unclear.. Also, having the tutorial repeating itself everytime you die is a bit clumsy.. The artwork though, is absolutely breathtaking !!! The characters are gorgeous, drawn in a truly skilful way and the shaders embellish them. Huge admiration from me !!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot !! Yeah a lot of improvement to be done but i'll try to fix that in upcoming updates!

Happy to read that this game is going to continue evolving ! I bookmarked it to see how it is going to grow !!

Great game with a clever and lovely concept. Overall the game is great I will give 5/5 in each. Keep it up! and if you have spare time please check out my game too.. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, I'll makz sure to do it tommorow !

GREAT artwork.

It took me way too long to realize I had to hit the damage card with the red cursor! I don't see that written anywhere, but maybe I missed it? I think it would be simpler if you just had one cursor that can trigger the cards.

I also think it's frustrating to have 8-9 cards left and get dodges all in a row...even when I got the hang of it, there was nothing I could do to beat the tutorial enemy.

I also made a rhythm game so I feel some of your pain and ran into some of the same design problems, hah. Rhythm games are hard to make! I sympathize.

Developer

Thanks! Yes rythm game are a pain in tha ***. I'll check your when I get home !Thanks for the feedbacks!

Hey from discord:)
OMGGG a rythm game niice!
I really liked the gameplay, but yeah ill say the same thing as everyone about the hit boxes, they are a bit confusing especially the "dodge" ones

but OMG the ARTTTTT i wish i could make game art like this one day bc this is GORGEOUS

Developer

Haha thank you, yeah will fix this!! And for the art I'm sure you'll be able to do it !!

Submitted(+1)

I absolutely love the art here! Amazing job I aspire to be such a great artist like you. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Simple but understandable story.
The card hitbox was confusing. I hit it but got a miss.
I bought a thing from the store and got a game over? I don't understand
The intro and tutorial start again after failing, I suggest adding the option to skip at least or throw the player into the gameplay ASAP.
Good job!

Developer

Hey thanks a lot for the kind words you don't know how much that means to me! That aside I agree that the game need a lot more work, but it's planned and a full release version will be made with a friend musician of mine, so I keep your comment warm till I can fix that! I just checked your games and I only have to say that you don't need to aspire as being a "great artist like me" hahaha, you're already doing an amazing job!!!! Anyway if you want to follow the progress on the full release you can follow me at lajuj.exe on instagram I post a lot of develog there! Don't hesitate to send me a message I could send you a advanced version for feedbacks if you aree interested !

Submitted(+1)

I'll follow you here because I don't use instagram :/ I have bsky and twitter tho!

Submitted(+1)

More people need to be checking out this game just based on the art itself! When I got in and was playing I couldn't help but fall in love with the presentation! That being said I was a really let down with everything else. I know everyone is already mentioning things like hitboxes on cards, upgrades costing health, etc and what not so I won't rehash everything. I wish you got more time to fully realize everything because I can tell you have something super amazing on your hands!

And I dont wanna backseat dev since I know you wanted to implement so much more but I cant help but think about so many cool ideas like bosses that mess with the timing or change the order you resolve cards. I hope to see you continue working on this and if not hope to see more from you!

Developer

Hey thanks a lot for all those feedbacks ! There is no harm at all its great to have positive feedbacks, I'm still hesitating on continuing the projects so maybe one of those day you could see a full release! If you want to follow what I'm woking on I'm posting dev vlogs on instagram and I'm planing on doing some reels on the jam, my name is lajuj.exe there. Thanks a lot for the kind words on the art though !

The art is great, the idea is cool and the gameplay loop is solid. I had trouble getting into the game because the hit boxes on the cards felt inconsistent and the music was slow and methodical which kinda threw my timing. I think the music and the expected beat presses were not well matched up

Developer

Thanks for tryting the game out! Yeah there is definitely a lot of improvement to be done here, maybe I'll continue the project and try to fix that ! Glad you liked the art

Submitted(+1)

I liked the art style, and I agree that hitbox was inconsistent, I noticed it only counted when I tried hitting when the thing drawn in forehead was inside the box.
One suggestion I would say is that make it, even if a little amount of card is inside the hitbox, it counts, but if that drawn thing in forehead is inside the box, we hit a perfect and something special happens, that way it won't be much punishing to beginners while allowing experts to shine through by hitting multiple perfects.

Developer

Thanks for the feedbacks! I think I'll continue working on the project for a bit so that could be a very nice idea

really good visuals and aesthetic. There's one huge problem that prevented me from enjoying the gameplay loop, the hitbox for the cards felt inconsistent. Sometimes it felt like I pressed space at just the right spot but I still get penalized and lost a heart for no reason. Happened far too often than I would have liked. Otherwise, it's a very neat concept with great art style, I just wished the gameplay was more consistent.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah because the timing is not clearly shown it can get frustatiing I would have really liked to be able to make it more fair...

Perfect game overall. Enjoyed it.

Developer

Oh thanks a lot I'm glad you liked it

This isn't a rhythm game? Just a timing one. The cards aren't timed to the music at all, so it's just a game of pressing a button when two icons line up with no musical component (a perfectly fine base, but not what's being advertised!)

The gameplay got tedious pretty quickly unfortunately - the cards move and appear really slow, and the angels other than the basic shy one have really excessive amounts of health, so the game quickly felt really slow paced and repetitive. Upgrades costing health is really interesting in concept, but they take so much of your healthbar for such lackluster upgrades that they just do not feel worth it - buying upgrades seemed like a death sentence every time I tried. The game also seems to have some really inexplicable and severe bugs - I had several occasions where the deck seemed to get stuck and keep repeating the same card over and over without counting down? Which in turn made the upgrades feel even more worthless, as I often wouldn't even be able to access the part of the deck where the cards I bought ended up.

On the other hand, the visuals are absolutely gorgeous. The character designs and stylization are so instantly iconic and appealing, it's such a cool aesthetic. Massive kudos for the artwork.

Developer

Yeah haha , the goal was to make  it rythm based but you know  how game jam goes, time runned out :( I agree with most of the point you brought up, the card in the shop for example were supposed to be new one to deckbuild but again no time in the end. For the spawning card component that's weird it's the first time I ear about it!

Anyway thanks for all those feedbacks!

Glad that you at least like the art!

The visuals in this game are incredible. Love the vibe and aesthetic.

I also really enjoyed the mechanic of the timed card playing. I would have liked to have more indication of what counts as a valid place to activate it, as it sometimes felt like I got it, but then it missed somehow. Would also have been cool to have a "partial" hit or something, where you get reduced effects ala rating how close you were to the center or whatever?

From one eye-based title font game to another, this was great!

Developer(+1)

Hey glad you liked it! Yeah definitely miss some information :( But I had no more time left.... As for the patial win I wanted to implement it but again time runned out !

Submitted(+1)

Wooo ! Spooky The Game's art work is fire. The Game loop is good too !! Overall GG!

Developer

Thanks that means a lot !!

Submitted(+1)

You really got talent. I liked the aesthetics! There could be a more flashed out card mechanic, but, overall it's a very good game. Well done.

Developer

Thanks I'm so glad you liked it !!!

The game's art is incredibly beautiful, I think I've fallen in love with one of the angels... I love rhythm games, this turned out really dope!!!!!!!

Developer

Thanks Juliana that means a lot to me!!! i wonder which angel that is ????

Submitted(+1)

really cool artistic direction ! i like that you put a distinct narrative there, it could have been easy to just paste a premade fantasy on this

Submitted(+2)

Cool art! and the post-processing effects create a great vibe! It was a bit hard to get the timing right for playing the cards, and I think the game could be a little more fast-paced.

That said, I really liked the idea of being able to change your deck it was a great addition!

Submitted(+1)

the artwork is incredible, huge fan of the aesthetic! though  i wish there was something more visible on the cards so you know when to get a perfect. overall very cool experience!

Submitted(+1)

I like the artwork and the game is fun but difficult. I wasn't sure when the press space though. Maybe make it more clear on when to hit space or make the music louder so players can hear the beat better.

Submitted(+1)

Really great style, would love to see the rest of the story but i can't get it the timing right for the life of me. Am I supposed to aim for the card captions?
