Fun and and beginning gameplay. After i got to the wells/grass growers it felt slow and didn't progress much(?) Art and sound is great

Submitted

I LOVE the art in this, it's simple but it scratches an itch texturally that really clicks with me. Card art is all very clean and communicative, big fan of the opening stuff, everything visually in this game is just so dang strong even if the gameplay took some getting used to! Was the music dynamic, or did I just get lucky with my timing in the opening cutscene? Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it! :) For the intro: you just got lucky with the music :) We have three tracks in the game: Main menu, desert theme and forest theme. The Intro and first half of the game has the desert theme. In the main game we blend over to the forest theme once the player has achieved 50% green tiles. Otherwise we have a couple "animation tweeners" on the music to fade something in or pitchbend it a bit, but that's it.

Submitted

I've never heard of a tween being used for music before, that sounds super badass and I will definitely look into that as the usual resident music guy lol ty!

I saw that you like penguins, so here I am! This is a beautiful game, and an incredible achievement in only four days. It took a while, but I turned the whole map green. The limiting factor for me was Wells -- I only had one in my deck and couldn't buy more? At the end, I was just buying Draw 2s and trashing everything but the Well. Also, the meteors stopped falling on me after a while, which I assume wasn't supposed to happen. Anyway, great work!

Developer

Nice, thanks for playing!

Yeah, the well and meteors are bugs we caught only after the deadline. I think we'll publish a fix after the jam :)

Fun Game!!

Fun game, though towards the end the meteors stopped showing up for some reason (perhaps because I had protected about 90% of the map?) and I was grinding to get the well card to show up again so I could fix my suboptimal early-game well placements and water the entire map. Did like the tradeoff of "you can put stuff on unwatered tiles, but it's going to be a pain to water them later", even if I didn't really realise it was going to be an issue.

Developer

Yeah, the late game needs some improvement in late game balancing - and the well not being buyable in the shop is a bug (as well as the meteors).

Would it be better if you could only place stuff on green? That would limit building options at the beginning quite a bit. Maybe there could also be a late game card that just allows you to change the terrain under a building.

Submitted

I think there definitely should be some things that can only be placed on green - definitely the more nature-focused builds like the forest and lake at least. Also doesn't the sprinkler let you change terrain under buildings already?

Developer

Yeah, the advanced sprinkler lets you change it under other nearby tiles.

Ah and I noticed I misread, thought you disliked the trade-off :D

And yeah, currently only the forest requires the green underneath. The lake might make sense as well. Thanks for the discussion! :)

I like that there's a lot of potential in how you place things, because you can put down resources as well as gatherers. The shop also adds a lot of depth with adding and removing cards. For feedback, Id say the game just feels too long. A lot of turns where you don't do much. The meteors didn't really add any tension (mine all landed in barren tiles).

Overall though, its a solid and ambitious game. The team did a good job.

I love deckbuilders and this terraforming one has a lot of potential! I'm impressed with all you did in the short jam. The card art style is so cool!

Developer

Being able to divide the work between a few people helped a lot. not having to worry about the art assets or music / sound effects was really nice. thanks for the nice words!

Submitted

Very fun! My only complaint is that I didn't see the option to buy more well cards and that ended up being the bottleneck for my playthrough

Developer(+1)

congrats, you fount one of the bugs in the game. we wanted to make well cards available in the shop, after you placed your first well. but Godot does not allow circular references in resources, and replaced our constraint silently with null. :(
so yeah, better shop constrains are on the to-fix-list.

I think this has some real potential. I love the idea of a tile based terrain altering deck builder! I would love to see more work done on this project. I would have like a bit more in terms of direction or possibly tooltips for certain things but otherwise I really liked it!

Developer(+1)

We really wanted to implement tooltips, highlighting for synergies while placing, and a much longer intro / tutorial phase, with more content / higher tier buildings to unlock. Bun unfortunately there is never enough time in a jam, so we are glad everything is working as good as it is. Future improvements are on the list thought. Thanks for playing.

Submitted

I look forward to seeing what you do!

Interesting mix of deckbuilding and turn based strategy. I could see this being expanded into a larger game. Great stuff.

Submitted

A really cool idea for a civbuilding/deck building game! Two game types I love seeing made together felt very fun. It does need some improvements like with how tedious some things can be like losing a whole turn because you dont get the resources or buildings you want early on. You definitely have an addicting formula that can definitely get me to sink hours into!

Developer

As always we really could have used a couple more hours (or days) to tweak the balancing and UX :D

Glad you had fun, thanks for playing!

Submitted

This is a really addictive game! I genuinely really enjoyed it, and would be interested in seeing this game developed further.
One little glitch I ran into was my tents kept making gold, but the number never went above 5 after each end turn.
Really solid game overall, thank you for sharing it with the world! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Interesting, I think we did not see that bug before. I assume you had more than 5 tents? We made it so that all resources including gold reset each turn.

Submitted

i came back here to replay the game, i'm just a bit silly and didn't have enough tents eheheh!

Developer(+1)

Glad I managed to lure you back :D

Went through quite an adventure during my run! Accidentally deleted my only forest, so I ended up buying a lot of +2 lumber cards and deleting anything I didn't have an immediate need for XD It was a lot of fun running through the deck trying to find the cards I need! There was one bug I came across where, after selecting a card, if you didn't deselect it or place it and ended your turn, the card's item would be permanently stuck to the cursor until placed. Other than that, a lovely game! Great work!

Developer(+1)

Some call it bug, some call it feature :D

Maybe we add a more polished version to keep one card for the next turn if you can't play it right now.

Submitted

Hey, great game!

I came across some weird bugs, like i couldn't place anything, and wanted to feel more about the "race against the clock" thing, but honestly, the game was fun and got me locked in for some time.

Loved the art style, like some brush strokes, looks awesome, keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, we kind of ran out of time :D Could be that you need to win within x turns, also the meteors were not supposed to stop - but live happens in game jams :D

Thanks for playing!

I liked the style but I think it would improve if there was feedback on turn end. I ended ending twice because I didn't know it clicked

Developer

Yes, button feedback was on the list, thanks for testing it anyway.
