that was super fun! my dad is a pyrotechnician and i used to watch him shoot several thousand dollars worth of fireworks for the 4th of july show, this was weirdly nostalgic for me.
really clever idea and i loved how the game rewards good musical timing

fantastic entry and great take on the theme, well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’m glad you enjoyed and it got across enough of the feeling of a real fireworks show. I wanted to be a pyrotechnician growing up, but this is the closest I’ve ever gotten.

I’m really not good at music rhythm games and yet I managed to get two stars on all tracks and I think that speaks volumes to the quality of the game. Especially the ability the settings (syncing your beat delay, and having the notes highway or what it was called) but probably also in generally good amount of tolerance to be on the beat from the game. So the experience was very pleasant.

The fireworks were also very nice looking!

Thanks you 1000x for the recording and your thoughts! It’s always so instructive to see and hear people play. And quite validating when they say nice things:) I’m glad you had a pleasant experience playing!

That was a fresh take on the theme, don’t think I’ve seen any rhythmic games better than this. You chose the absolute best music you could choose for the game. Great job!!

Developer

Thanks for such kind words!! These are some of my favorite songs, I was so happy to showcase them in such a fitting setting.

This is a fun little game! Love the song choice, In the Hall of the Mountain King in particular is a really fun one for this sort of game. I agree with what others have said, some sort of indicator for when I was on beat would have been helpful and added to the game feel as well. Refueling at the end for the grand finale is a fun idea, it lets you really go crazy at the end, although it does make me want to just mash buttons to see the pretty fireworks rather than stay on beat. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed Hall of the Mountain King - It’s one of my favorite songs and what I based the whole game around before adding the others for some variety. Agreed about the beat indicator, I liked the pulsing Rhythulet used and think there’s a way I can adapt it after the jam.

Super cool take on a rhythm game! Would have liked more visuals to see when the game thought the correct beat was.

Overall sweet jam entry :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and kind words! I wasn’t sure how to show the beat without being too distracting, but I’m sure there’s a good way! Maybe something pulsing, or a background color change…

You can turn the ‘note highway’ on in options, but I find it distracts from the fireworks too much.

this was so adorable, such a fun take on a rhythm game!

Beautiful and creative idea the with the fireworks!

Congrats!

Cool concept and a very good execution.

The game is very repayable.

cool game! I really like the premise, but I didn't feel that incentivized to actually play on beat. Nonetheless I enjoyed the show :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the show. I didn’t want a penalty after hiding the notes, but as you found, that removes the incentive to play on the beat. Also, some of the songs are so fast pretty much any time you fire it’ll be on some beat.

I like how you made the beat matter in Rhythulet without taking the focus off the screen to a note highway.

omg heck yeah! i really enjoy rhythm games that dont have strict note but as long as you're on beat you score well. i  had a lot of fun playing this, and it wasnt so hard that i couldnt also enjoy the fireworks haha. great work!

Developer

Thanks!! Glad you could focus on the fireworks! I turned off the ‘note highway’ because it’s all anyone looked at when it was there, so they missed the show.

Cool idea!

5271 a good score?

Fun game, I wasn't sure if I was on beat or not lol. It's always good to see more music based games for this jam!

Developer

If you enjoyed, it’s a good score! There’s a star rating, but I didn’t spend a lot of time tuning the difficulty. The goal was mostly to have fun and watch cool fireworks.

Thanks for playing!

looks really cool! very creative!

It was really clever to turn the coundown into a fireworks festival ut couldn’t quite catch were was I supposed to use one firework over another, great game feel in the final 20 secs when you get to do the final burst, nice touch!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! There is no real reason to use one firework over another – There’s a habituation system where spamming the same shell over and over gives fewer points (The bar at the bottom), but I opted against having tracks with specific shells like other rhythm games, wanted you to just feel the beat and be creative. Glad you liked the finale, it’s also my favorite part when playing.

Hey, really fun and simple game. I had a great time smashing the fireworks and listening to classical music
I got 4752 points as my high score!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Smashing fireworks and listening to classical musical is what it’s all about.
