great game! The art is really good and the feedback on turning the cogs is satisfying. also... ledge (bumping the word count)

How does your game fit the theme?
The entire building is on a countdown (synced with the music), once the count reaches 0 you die!

Very creative game, movement was a little clunky at times but still fun. Great job!
I really loved this as a sort of rhythm game platformer--it was super satisfying to turn a cog with the beat of the music as the clock dances along, but it feels like I'm fighting against the controls more than I am against the level itself. Trying to go down is especially frustrating because of how you automatically snap back up with a ledge grab, and it's really easy to get stuck on level 2 when you're being chased by the clock.
Most of the comments in here have been some variation of people having issues with the controls/ledges being too generous, and i do agree some fixing is in order x)
The second level really needed to have an explanation on how to fast-fall, since falling down fast is really important to stay away from the ticking clock ! I should have put a little tutorial explaining how holding [S] allows you to fall faster without grabbing ledges, it makes this level HUNDREDS of times easier -_-
Thanks for playing ! It stings to have so many people struggle because i didn't explain the controls well enough but welp, can't do anything about it now ^v^
I like the concept and the artwork and sound design is great but my main nitpick is that the character is way too floaty.
A Hollow Knight style feel to the movement would elevate this a lot.
And as someone else said, the ledge grab is a bit too aggressive and sometimes doesn't allow you to just walk off a surface.
Honestly tho, this was good considering the time constraint!
Really fun!! Love how the little mouse looks<3 Do also echo the ledge grabbing is bit finicky. I also found the starting place to be a bit too dark, where I took longer than should to find the door. Overall great idea, love how the clock goes around, and that you fix the cogs while the hand putting pressure!
I like how the clock hands move with the music. I found that to be a cool element. The platforming is a little finicky since it is easy to accidently ledge grab or fail to ledge grab by not holding down your jump. I like cute mouse with their oversized wrench. The presentation in general was cute. Cool game!
Man this game is hard, though I did find a bug that will allow you to jump through platforms. I did enjoy the fact that column is synced to the music. Of course I guess that one we have to wait till the music is over. However, I did have some other bugs where the mouse could end up fixing the same gear twice, and some slight issues with controls. I think it need polishing (I played with a controller BTW). Other than that, the music is good, and some of the sounds seem to work in the games favor. The art style works well with the ascetic too. But Mice working on clocks... Did you get that idea from the Ranklin and Bass short "Twas A Night Before Christmas"?
Featured on today's stream!
You don't know how much i appreciate getting footage of you playing the game ! This helps IMMENSELY to figure out why people are struggling so much with the difficulty!
- I've now realised that i've exported the entire game project file for the Linux version instead of the game itself, pressed the wrong export button when exporting the game so it's my fault 😭 (i'm so sorry)
- The ledge-jumping is made in a way where you need to keep holding the Jump button even before interacting with platforms or cogs, trying to time it isn't reliable since i forgot to add an input buffer -_-
The ledge hitboxes are really messed up right now so it's normal that you managed to clip into a few walls at certain points of your stream x)
(controllers have a weird problem where if your last vertical [LSTICK] input is downwards you end up getting stuck to the ground, that's something i missed during testing and you died because of it during one of your first few tries, my bad for this as well!)
I've probably seen a few parts that Ranklin and Bass short so there's a non-zero chance that i got inspired to make the main character a mouse for that reason 🤔
Thanks for playing !!! (and suffering through the unintuitive mess i've created :X)
Super cool concept but GOD is it difficult :sob: Shadow mouse is also a cool addition, is it a separate object or just one animation track? Love the mouse's wrench too!
I manually animated the shadow with Godot's animation player (tweened the frames with a duplicate of the Player's sprite until it looked somewhat convincing) so it isn't totally accurate to what the movement is (i really need to find a way to record my movements and play them back in an animation instead of spending 10 minutes hand-animating the motion lol)
Difficulty has been a common complaint x) I definitely should have added a heart or two to the health bar so it's more forgiving for people that have played less platformers than i have !
The first level's difficulty ended up being way harder than it should have so it's normal that you (and a ton of other people) struggled with it x)
Thanks for reviewing ! I appreciate it ^v^
The little mousy is so cute! I also was appreciative of the shadow mouse as I am very dumb. Great submission!
Cool concept! Nice sound design. Got stuck on the jump with the shadow, it would glitch out. Managed to glitch myself with a dash into the wall popping up at the top so I could continue though! Really loved the gamepad support it works great! Some haptics, especially on the cogs and being hit by the clock would be cool. Nice job! ♥️
Wonderful game but I think the ledge-grabbing is TOO forgiving. T_T
Otherwise really surprised on how you pumped this out REALLY quickly.
Great visuals and music! Like most people said, ledgegrabbing is REALLY forgiving
Got stuck in a wall once in Columnn because of it :P
The song sometimes stops(might be just my computer being laggy), and by consequence the clock stops, timer and movement doesn't tho
But overall pretty fun!
The visuals and overall atmosphere of the game are fantastic. The music is great and syncing it with the clockwork is such a nice touch. As others have already mentioned, the ledge hanging is a bit too forgiving, so it often triggers even when I don't want it to. But I assume that can be tweaked relatively quickly. Overall, it was a great experience and I enjoyed it a lot. Well done! :)
What a cool concept, I love the rush to twist all the gears and escape, very pizza tower esc. I would say the game might benefit from the controls in the description since that took me the largest amount of time to understand, and maybe a gamma setting or just a general brightening of the pre-escape scene as it was a bit difficult to see on my monitor. Overall though a very nice entry, great work!
Good point, i added a little controls section on top of the game page just incase ^^
Also yeah the lighting is kinda messed up in some places, i tried messing with darkness overlays a little but it turned out to be pretty difficult to get right.
A gamma setting would have been a good idea 🤔Especially for the intro sections that are REALLY dark.
