How does your game fit the theme?
My game is a text-based interrogation simulator that tracks the amount of answers the player has given throughout the game. By the end of 6 decisions made, the player will either survive or game over depending on their level of stress.

I've used this Game Boy logo for the front page:

I also used this laugh from this clip of CottontailVA for the dialogue:

Everything else you see in the game is hand-drawn, coded, written, and made by me! :D

Nice submission, its cool that you took on a extra challenge to make a working GB game. Love to see others make retro games too!

Nice Game!

I was surprised that this is running without webgl on my hardened browser. Also cool that you did a game boy game (is it a custom made engine or is there something out there?)

I was confused with the animations and the game over and game beat scenarios, I did not know if the game ended or if there was some time shennanigans / timeline stuff / simulation restart that was happening.

The theme somehow reminds me of the anime "Psycho Pass". And the gameplay initially gave me the vibe of "Phoenix Wright"

The only feedback at the moment that I would give is more clear outcomes. (Also a minor one, the initial explanation could take the whole screen rather than just the dialog box, but this is good enough for a jam)

Congrats on releasing your first working game jam game! And hope you do more!

Also the first time I was playing with low audio volume and once I increased it, it became a lot more clear.

GB Studio is what I used to make this game - it's super easy to use and you don't need any programming knowledge to use it! Super easy to navigate, but a NIGHTMARE to debug lol. If you can program in a normal engine, you can definitely program with GB Studio - it's SUPER easy. And exporting the files was super easy too - you just have to press an export button and you're golden!

Cool game! Took me a second the really understand what I was doing but I really liked the whole aesthetic and atmosphere. I thought the dialogue was well written too! Congrats on your first Game Jam! It was my first also!

Developer

Thank you dude! Honestly, I'm grateful that I even managed to finish a game, let alone almost 2 days before deadline! I was TERRIFIED of over scoping so I wanted to narrow it down as much as I can, but I'm glad you understand the struggle too! Wish you the best of luck on the rest of your jam!

Cover art too racy, couldn’t pay attention.

Relatable.

I was a bit confused by the repeating scenarios, but I like the idea of an interrogation simulator. The dialogue in the beginning also dragged for a bit too long, and the sentences didn't fit in the text boxes. Other than that, I think this game has potential to be a pretty cool game if you keep working on it!

I like the GB art style and sounds. The narrative is interesting, I just hope it won't turn into a reality as it's pretty scary to even think about. I'm not a big fan of the gameplay, but I can't deny that it is a pretty unique take on the theme. Solid entry overall!

Developer

Thank you so much for pointing out the narrative! I had a great time writing it - even though it might be hitting too close to home right now LMAO. Thank you for playing! :D

Really enjoyed the strong style and identity.

Personally, I’m not much into text-heavy games, and I didn’t fully see the link to the theme. But overall, it’s a solid piece for a portfolio. Congrats! =)

Another solo dev here. I liked the sound and aesthetics. The gameplay however was a bit confusing and uninteresting.

very cute aesthetic and vibe :)

I really appreciate the GB aesthetic in this. I also think the music fits that GB theme as well. Interesting concept!
