How does your game fit the theme?
In Hyperdriver, you are at the whim of your spaceship's hyperdrive that serves to both alter your defense systems and control your next hyperjump . It does all this by the use of uncontrollable countdowns!

This was so fun, the sound for switching is so cool. I loved upgrading it and getting more powerful. Great game.

The audio was satisfying, especially the switching ones. Great game!

It was fun, with decent combat and good use of a timer for weapon switches.  I wish it were zoomed out a bit more, as it felt the ship took up most of the screen, which made it confusing to dodge things and find enemies.  Good job!

The visuals are stunning! And apart from that, the game is very fun too play! The fact that the ship changes mode multiple times is a really cool mechanic!

Other than some visual issues that might be on my end for the web version, loved the game! Feel like there should be some indicator if there are enemies off-screen, because for some of the earlier levels I found myself running around somehow dodging 50% of the spawned enemies.

Apart from that, everything else is excellent!

the combat gets really fun in later levels, and it's such a polished game! love to see another space shooter like the one my team submitted

Great game! I loved the creative abilities (and their distinct colors) as well as the nested countdowns with the power ups and the overall level countdown. Cool enemies and fun gameplay loop. Also very pretty art style! A very strong entry overall. The only thing it's missing is a countdown to liftoff...

Dont know if its just me, but I get this error in the loading screen

TypeError: can't access property "subarray", t is undefined

createUnityInstance/N/<!--<@https://html-classic.itch.zone/html/18543222/BrowserBuildV1/Build/BrowserBuildV1...

firefox, linux.

Works on chrome though. I liked the idea and the graphics, and although it was a bit slow to pick up it was addictive and fun once it did!

Developer

Woah, strange... I don't have Linux nor Firefox, so it seems to be a unique case. Neat error though. Thanks for playing and glad you liked it once it starting working! :D

Score 4180, Had a bunch of fun playing the game! A fun upgrade could be to increase/decrease  amount of time on each weapon to customize your loadout

Developer

Cool idea! I was thinking of a similar kind of system: what if you could control the timing and order of each defense weapon? You would have a max of four slots but lots of different bullet types, so you'd have to pick and choose. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for playing!!

My first review was that this was a chill game and that I wish i could upgrade the weapons.

AND THEN I FOUND OUT YOU COULD! I think there should be a better visual indicator about upgrading the different weapons.... at least that would have helped me.

I think there is also an opportunity to add background cues to your movement direction. With the way the camera works, without many enemies on the screen, it can be hard to know if you actually switched directions.

Very fun, pretty well balanced. The effects all come together. Very well done!

Haha glad you liked it! Wish I could've done more with the background, but with any game jam, there was a lot that could have been done, but not enough time to do. Thanks for playing! :)

Definitely would have liked to see the concept expended instead of facing classic upgrades

Submitted

Its not very well indicated, but you can actually upgrade all the weapons. There are arrows you can click to switch the upgrade list.

Developer

Like what Lafferty said, the shop has multiple upgrade options/screens! One of the .gif screenshots submitted to the game showcases the animation and shop effects as well as where to click to switch the page. (Although, getting to, say, sector 10 with only classic upgrades would be a pretty cool challenge >:D)

Surprisingly addictive!

I'd love the start of the game to feel a bit faster, maybe with more game feel and some kind of move (a spin or a flip or something like that), I think it would hook you in earlier. Either way the game is great, and it looks really good. Congrats!

Cool game! I like the weapon text banners down the side, and the music really fit the vibe. It did feel a bit slow at the start, there was a period where I had no enemies for ages. As a forever DM, I have had nightmares like this! :D

Pretty solid entry ! The concept works well.

Really engaging concept - the range of weapons and automatic switching work really well to force the player to adapt their playstyle on the fly, which is always a lot of fun! Music is great too, feels suitably sci-fi :)

Submitted

Maybe not what you expect but my favorite part is definitely the scroll sound effect when weapons change. If the game was a little more intense from the start I would have enjoyed it a little more.

Well executed idea, a little too arcade'y for ma tastes, but I liked the execution on the upgrades and the art style a lot. Would love to see more stats on upgrades screen :)
