How does your game fit the theme?
The Sword of Damocles acts as Countdown your mortality. You can also Sacrifice cards to buy yourself time, at the cost of 'Counting Down' your deck of course.

such a creative concept and theming, i especially love how your health bar is represented. the entire game has such a cool aesthetic and i absolutely adore it!
i wouldve liked to have seen a little more strategy in the combat since you can just play all of your cards at once, maybe a mechanic where you can store a card from your hand for the next turn?
overall an incredibly pleasant experience, would love a post-jam version :)
Thanks for playing and I am glad you enjoyed our take on the theme :)
There is actually a way to save cards for the next turn. There is a card called "Avarice" that makes it so that you don't discard cards at the end of turns. But we noticed that it is pretty inconsistent on what cards people get offered in their playthroughs, so a lot of players unfortunately end runs without seeing 3-4 cards even once sadly. Looking forward, we are thinking of a more "controlled randomness" type solution to make sure people get to see and play every card in their run
the papercraft coliseum concept is such a cool idea! the visuals git the game well and the animations are satisfying. i especially liked the sword of damocles falling slowly as a visual indicator for a health bar, + the audio chosen for it whenever it would fall lower was perfect! i did run into a bug (?) on round 2 (after getting the first new card) where i couldn't use any shield cards no matter how much i dragged, even though I didn't have any active. not sure if i just missed some explanation there on my part though!! nice work!
Thanks for playing the game and for the thoughtful comment. It sounds like you have run into and used the "Hubris" card. The description says something like "Break all defenses," which includes your own! At the cost of not being able to cast any more defensive cards for the encounter, all your enemies take double damage basically. I am sorry this wasn't communicated clearly haha
oh my!!! Thank you for the explanation, that makes so much sense haha
Really loved the artwork and the sword slowly moving down when you take damage was a really good touch!
peak game, would love to see you develop the concept >w<
Thanks for playing, it was fun watching you play the game :))
The ancient Greek vase art style looks absolutely stunning and having the descending Sword of Damocles replace the health bar is such a genius thematic touch!
I think having damage values on the cards without knowing how much health an enemy has makes it hard to do actual strategy, but the style and animations of this game are really good, and the theming is on point. I wish there were definitions of some of the terminology somewhere, which might have been clearer if I had played Slay the Spire before maybe? But I unfortunately have not. Cool game!
Yeah, I wish we just didn't have damage values in the cards at all. We wanted to go for the old-school roguelike feeling of trying to figure out what things do by playing them. The terminology is vague on purpose to encourage multiple attempts and experimenting, haha. The first change I wanna make to the game is just remove all the numbers from the game basically xd
I'm crying, this is incredible!! I can't believe such a masterpiece was created in just 96 hours!!:))
I was wondering where my health bar was at the start of the game, then i saw the sword coming down after a bit of damage, that's a really cool way of depicting a health bar. All the mechanics were easily understood, it's a very simple game but has a lot of room for complexity.
Thank you for playing and I am glad you had fun :) We really want to keep building more complexity and content for the game in the future, hoping to break my bad habit of not doing post-jam updates this year lol
What a gem! Genuinely insane this was made in 96 hours. The art and gameplay is amazing and I am a HUGE fan of roguelike deckbuilders so this was right up my ally. I loved the gameplay, my only feedback is I felt I didn't have to think about what cards to play since you can play them all! Overall the vibe and core gameplay loop is phenomenal, well done!!
I am happy you enjoyed our game, we put a lot of hard work into it. I agree, I wish we could have made more strategy and unique interactions for the cards and enemies. But our gameplay loop got finalized pretty close to the deadline, and we definitely did not playtest & balance enough hehe
Really really solid game. The art is wonderful and the vibe is perfect. Took me a little while to understand the strategy but once I got it I had a really good time. I'd like if it were a little more obvious that there was a sword lowering above me at the start though.
Good game!
Thanks for playing, im glad you enjoyed the game :) Yeah, we hid the sword on purpose because we wanted players to miss it initially and then have like an "Oh crap" moment once they realize, but that concept didn't really fit a jam playthrough that well haha
This was a really well put together game - the sword for the health bar was a really cool creative choice, and having the entire thing feel like ancient greek art brought to life really had a lot of charm to it! The visual style is on point, the sound design was really cool, and generally it felt really fun to play. You knocked it out of the park with this one!
I wish there was more card variation - or maybe even synergies? - to really liven the deckbuilding aspects, but the core flow is solid and works really well. I found myself strategizing - and I could see this working really well as an Inscryption-style title. Maybe some UI tweaks, such as a counter for how many shield tokens you have, but that feels nitpicky - because this entire thing was really well polished, and really fun to play.
My only critique is essentially - I wish there was more of it to play.
Thanks for checking us out and giving such thoughtful feedback. Yeah, we are considering building the game further, potentially with more cards, enemies, and synergies. I have so many more ideas for cool Greek-themed cards and mechanics cooking :))
You could definitely pull off some really cool stuff with the vibe you've got going, for sure. I'll have to come check it out post jam! I'm a sucker for deck builder style games.
I love the concept and the art! I really appreciate the reference to theater; it's a theme I really like. Really good job!
Yeah we had a lot of fun working with the ancient greek theater theme, such a goldmine for ideas and inspirations
Beautiful artwork; the idea of the Sword of Damocles descending with every hit taken—replacing the health bar—is really interesting, too!
I could play this for hours; it's a really great game :)
Thanks for playing, really glad you enjoyed the game and our take on the theme
really really good
That was brilliant. The art, the theme, it was so well done!
THE ART IS AMAZING!!!
Pot of Greed is pretty broken :P.
I didn’t survive very long (I tried to play Accept Death to see how it worked but turned out it ended the run lol) but a very fun game overall, can totally see the resemblance to Slay The Spire being all over :P. Pretty cool thematic with the Sword of Damocles hanging over as well.
Great game.
Happy to hear that the inspiration is coming through well! We are all lovers of the "Vase of Greed" here as well haha
Really impressive game! The animations and visuals are absolutely gorgeous and give the game a unique style. Everything feels polished, and the overall experience is a lot of fun. Great work!
Thank you for playing. I absolutely loved your game as well
the art is so pretty!! this game is so polished
I am glad you enjoyed, I really liked your game as well :)
ooooh :O this was so fun! and wow the art style is so cool I'm loving the "cut out" effect, awesome job!!
Thank you so much. I will make sure to relay it to the artists! I am a massive fan of the art in your game too :)
