Loved the collaboration of art and music here, the glowing mushroom sound cues were hilarious. The ant movements were mesmerising too! Great jam game. I guess the countdown here was the countdown to the marching band test?

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

The countdown to the finale of the tryouts was definitely some narrative theming we threw in! But there’s also a micro countdown to hit each beat, as well as counting downbeats. We tried to approach the theme from a few different angles

This is a beautifully crafted game! I LOVE rhythm games, so this was def a game for me. The artwork is FANTASTIC, and the MUSIC!!! Loveeee! The animal crossing ref sounds for dialogue was for sure a bonus. Wonderfully done! Great job team!

Developer

Thank you so much! I created those animalese sounds and our programmer Pat implemented them so smoothly

I never expected glowing mushrooms on the log! Tons of craftsmanship on display on every piece of this game.

I had to save the most devious curveball for last! Thanks so much for playing, Drew!!

Well its got great art and sound duh. Fun enough gameplay but i got no rhythm

Developer

Thank you!! And oh no, did you try the level select checkbox to help make things easier? Totally get that rhythm games aren't for everyone, though!

This is awesome.

Thank you!!

Incredible ! Cute, beautiful, and easy to get in. Real nice touch to have added accessibility options.

I hope you get to the top of this year's jam !

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! And all kudos to Patrick for the level design and the accessibility feature idea!!

Gorgeous. The art is unreal for four days and the music is properly catchy, big Rhythm Heaven energy. Only shout is the big mushrooms blocking the view a bit in the later levels. Loved it.

Check out my game if you get a chance, a chess roguelike called Final Gambit: /jam/gmtk-jam-2026/rate/4813276

Developer

Thank you, glad to hear you enjoyed!

Ngl, the opening cutscene kinda jumpscared me to the point that I instantly alt+F4'd because of how immediate it was lol

Anyway that aside, really great game here. It probably doesn't really need to be said but the game's presentation is indeed phenomenal. I do have some issues with the visuals, but they don't take away from the fact that the art was a visual feast. The audio was also catchy as all hell.

I thought the tutorial for the beat was also pretty cool to let a player get used to the beat of each level. That and it also helped me know when exactly I needed to start following along. Having the mushrooms also helped ensure that things didn't get too monotonous either. That said, I can't really deny that even with the changes in tempo, the game kinda got a little too repetitive after the 2nd level. I kinda wished that there were more obstacles to watch out for, or maybe different variations of needing to follow along with the tempo ( Like maybe marching backwards in a certain section ? Idk really lol. Just an idea )

One thing I definitely wasn't a fan of though was how the large orange mushrooms kinda blocked your view in the last 2 levels. I think they covered a little too large an area. It mostly resulted in moments where I wasn't really sure if I had to turn or march forward. The same also kinda applies to when you're in a log. I was relying on the accompanying marching voice since I couldn't really tell where I was. Basically, the game has some minor problems with readability here and there. Nothing gamebreaking or anything, but something to keep note of imo

Still, y'all definitely put out something pretty cool here which is definitely my tempo. Kudos to the entire team

Thanks so much for playing, and for the very detailed notes! Some interesting feedback in here we haven't heard from folks before — out of curiosity, what issues did you have with the visuals?

Submitted(+1)

Apologies, edited my above comment slightly since I noticed an error, but either way I'll reiterate it here

My issue with the visuals was how the orange mushrooms impacted readability. Due to how big they were, I wasn't sure if I needed to actually turn or march forward at the points where they popped up

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Ohh okay thank you, I initially thought you were saying that you had issues with some aspect of the art itself overall (like color or textures or something); appreciate you clarifying that it's more about the level design / placement of assets!

Developer(+2)

Appreciate the detailed feedback! I'm inclined to back the logs in particular, since you only move in one direction through them and the intention is for you to rely on the rhythm during that time, but the mushrooms which obscure a turn in the line definitely ask a lot more as far as scanning ahead goes, which I've since realized can be tricky when you're trying to focus on internalizing the rhythm. If we return to the game at any point post-jam, I'll definitely take that into consideration when deciding how to arrange those props. Again, thanks so much for the thoughtful review!

This genuinely might be perfect, from the narrative to the art to the sound to the gameplay all of it flows perfectly together, I simply cannot think of a flaw. Congrats to all of you for making this amazing game!

Developer

Thanks so much, that's very kind of you! Glad you enjoyed :)

Everything about this game was absolutely fantastic. maybe my favorite in the Jam so far.  It's gorgeous, it's fun. simple, and elegant.  I need more levels .

Developer(+1)

We briefly discussed the idea of challenge levels with sped up versions of the tracks, but it wound up being panned for time. Might have to revisit the idea at some point! Thank you for the kind words!!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! Love your art, so I'm especially glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+2)

Wow I love everything about this game. From the art to the sfx and the narrator at the start. That's the best game I've seen so far.

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! Very glad you enjoyed the game :)

Where do I even start, first of all, I really REALLy like ants so that was already a bonus. Secondly, the art is gorgeous, the game feel is amazing and also addictive. I love the story as well, it is so freakin adorable!!! My favorite game in the jam for sure!

Developer(+2)

This is super thoughtful, thanks so much Rise!

(Believe it or not, this came straight from the ants!)

This is an absolutely adorable game, and a very fun rhythm game! Reminds me of rhythm heaven to the point I could see this being a rhythm game for either that or Bits and Bops. The plot was quite fun as well. The art is NEXT LEVEL, I love the colors and lighting; everything shines with a lustrious sheen, like tryouts are happening amongst the dew drops of the morning sunrise.

Overall, a delightful romp. I'd pay money for a custom chart editor to see remixes of this!

Developer(+1)

A chart editor is SUCH a fun idea, and totally doable with the way I have things set up (with some light restructuring)... I might have to do that post-jam. Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words!!

don't mind me as I print out this poetry and hang it on my wall...

(hahaha thank you so much for playing, and for the kind words!!)

So beautiful, so cute, it's a fun little story, well scoped, that we're happy to follow. The art is just wonderful. The rhythm gameplay was sometimes a bit difficult or hard to read/remember, but the general experience is very charming !

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it overall :)
