I liked it but it was kind of frustrating to be in the middle of a platforming room and die, and I think a visible timer would make that feel more like my skill issue than frustrating. Other than that great game!
Like the game but: as others said it needs a timer. Also i found the jump to the very right before the lock WAYY too difficult. You legit need to basically fall into the spikes to time the jump correctly
Cool game! As other people said, a timer would be nice too see if its worth going for more attempts, it was frustrating to be close to an item and just die out of nowhere. Besides that the progression feels good and the level design is really fun. Great job!
Overall I think the game is really fun! But I found the movement to be a little bit hard and the fact that you can spam the dash is a odd. Other then that I really like the visuals and audio design of this game!
So good! Some metroidvania mechanics, some precision platforming, its all very clean! I'd love to see a timer and the spikes are very punishing, even if you barely graze the side they'll take you out, but well done overall!
I love platformers, especially metrovinia ones. Well done on this. Some of the parts are super hard XD and then a timer would be nice. Thank you for making this :)
Nice one :D
An on-screen timer will be a nice update (it even adds more tension)
Very Cool. As many have pointed out, the poison timer onscreen would have been better. Also personally I felt the time was too less. Maybe I'm just bad at platformers.
Interesting metroidvania/roguelite concept, which had a bit more depth than I thought.
Sadly, without the poison timer on screen I had the impression of dying at random.
The intro text is also a bit long, you could have told the story in the level itself, bit by bit.
Congrats for the jam!
Metroidvania-style games are always really tricky to execute within such a short amount of time, but you seem to have done a really good job! The movement is surprisingly nice to execute, and the difficulty of the obstacles seems to ramp up with how far I can get through the dungeon, which is quite nice.
I have 2 little nitpicks that I think would go a long way:
- Have a timer on screen to show the countdown from the poison. When I was dying felt a lot like guesswork and there were times where it really felt unfair. It would also help solidify the jam theme for the game (not that the theme isn't there, it would just make it more present)
- Making the dungeon smaller wouldn't hurt. I don't know if I was missing something, but the runback to the far east room was super long, and it felt like because of that I only had one attempt on that room that was already pretty challenging.
Those were small nitpicks though, and overall the game is really fun. Great job :D
It's a good concept!
My biggest complaint would be the lack of information about how much time you have left on your current life. I think it would add important information for the player, which could create more tension.
The art is charming, and the controls feel pleasant. I liked quite a bit how the dash works. You could make a fun little combo move where you jump right after a dash to give the player extra speed.
Good job :)
Very cool idea with fun mechanics! The movement felt very polished for a game jam! I think some sort of visual indication to let you know when your time is up would be nice but still very fun to play. Nice job!
Cool idea for a tiny Metroidvania! I wish there was a timer on screen though, to show me how long I have left. The control scheme I also found to be a bit odd; I would have liked the dash to be on the keyboard as well. But otherwise not bad!
Cool game with nice movement and level design. My only wish is to have a timer on the screen
Really clever interpretation of the countdown theme. I liked how death wasn't just a failure state but an actual mechanic that helped you progress through the level. The movement felt smooth, especially the dash, and exploring the map to find the cure was fun. My only suggestion would be to make the remaining lives and poison timer a bit more visible, as those are such important mechanics. Great job overall! keep up the good work!
