Very creative concept, possibly my favourite game this jam! I honestly love this type of game. You also explored the core mechanic very thoroughly with a lot of other ideas. It makes it very immersive that you let the gun affect everything, like yourself and the death counter.
I also noticed how the timer only starts when you move, which is a problem I had in my own game that I solved differently.
To improve, the game could be polished further in some regards; the controls for platforming could be improved, and the game could be a bit more responsive, like camera shake when you shoot, or give clearer feedback when you die because you ran out of time. (which is very understandable for a jam game)
I know someone said to consider focusing on the puzzle appeal, but I would actually argue that you could have also pushed further the other way. I enjoyed solving the puzzles the way you intended; however, I could tell that you had left further ways of saving time, eg speeding up certain walls or slowing down the death countdown, which I found weren't really necessary to complete the level with the time provided. I think it would be good to find a way to reward players who make use of all the mechanics properly. Maybe by tightening the time provided (which may have come from more playtesting), but you could also add optional goals, or anything else more creative.
The puzzle design was very good; I like that you guided the players towards solving things for themselves.  I personally like to only introduce one mechanic at a time in simple levels and reduce the complexity to prevent the player from getting overwhelmed or reduce the chances of a player getting stuck on something they don't know, then put everything together later.  I think it was perfectly manageable the way it was, but maybe to perfect it, I personally would consider only having the moving platforms on the first level but the death countdown on a different level, or the bouncing surfaces having their own level.
Sorry for writing so much.
Great entry, though. The game clearly has a lot of potential for both puzzles and platforming!

Thank you deeply for taking the time to give me such detailed feedback, it really means a lot. I think you phrased it perfectly, and specifically finding fun ways to reward players that use all the mechanics will definitely be the first thing to focus on gameplay-wise. I really want to push this design to its full potential in the future, and this review is invaluable!

You are very welcome!

I really like that the player has to calculate every move with the gun, beside that the art style is gorgeous. Great job ^^

Great Jam game, some rough UX edges like a bit finicky aiming or jump physics but that's fully understandable for a jam game.

I've finished it and had fun, I feel like this idea has a lot of potential, the moment that I've sped up myself was very cool, great job!

Oh, you used Penusbmic's art, nice!

Developer(+1)

Yes! I'm a big fan of his previous work, and I thought it would fit the aesthetic I wanted to go for, only required some minor edits luckily.

Submitted(+1)

Nice, I am actually also using his art (not for my submission) for a big game I working on, nice to see others using it too!

Very good player movement and gun mechanics, cool level design and amazing art style. 10/10, Keep up the good work! (consider trying my game and giving a rating and a comment on your way)

I loved how the mechanics were taught the player and they were allowed to figure out how to use them without hints. Extremely clever concept, great art, atmosphere and vibes, definitely a 10/10

Developer

Wow I'm really glad you liked that, I feel like its an extremely hard part to get right but it feels so good when it does work out!

Really cool puzzles, my only complaint is the platforming feels a little off. Some of the jobs feel a little too precise for a puzzle game. Mostly a personal preference but I dislike when I know how to solve a level but I have to restart a few time because I can't quite nail a jump

Developer

Hi, I really appreciate your feedback. It really makes me think about how I can ensure that levels in the future that can be solved in ways that are satisying to both platformer fans as well as more puzzle oriented players, as well as tweaking some of the movement parameters and spacing of the objects. Thank you for playing!

Really interesting puzzle platformer. Gave me Braid vibes. I really like how the level restart timer was also an element in the level that can be sped up or slowed down. I liked the art style and music too. Maybe you can add more time altering bullets later, like a bullet that reverses the objects time or a bullet that switches the countdown to two objects.
Overall it's an exciting game...great job.

Developer

I'm really glad you enjoyed that detail, and those bullet type ideas are really interesting actually, especially the swapping of countdowns seem really cool to me. Thank you for the feedback this helps a lot!

really really creative and fun, great legs on this, continue working on it!

I will definitely iterate on this, thank you for taking the time to give it a play!

Really cool game I just wish there was a preview or something when shooting speed up or slow down beam, to know where it would land

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to play it, I meant to replace the preview I had during development with a proper texture that fit the game but ran out of time unfortunately, but I completely agree

it is like Portal but with Slow and Speed up. Title does not seem to represent the game genre but it is very worth to play it!

Puzzles are simple but enjoyable and most of the time I had to play like 2-3 times max to understand the level

Very fun game. The art was great. We actually considered this name for our game as well

Developer

Thank you! Great minds think alike, I do think "Set the Pace" fits your game really well though, so great choice on that

Really cool and interesting puzzle platforming! beautiful artstyle, and a real treat to play! Amazing work guys!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing it on stream, had a blast watching!

Had a lot of fun playing ! Love the time bullets mechanic and the art too. But, as a poor aimer, I would have loved a little preview on the bullet trajectory, especially when it bounces. Might be optional so people that want challenge could disable it.

Developer

Thank you for playing, and for the suggestion, I completely agree, I actually had a trajectory preview during development but I didn't have the time to make it properly fit the rest of the game in time.

Great idea. It is hard but rewarding. Each level is a bit of trial and error. The time manipulator gun is genious. The effect looks good too.

Developer

Thank you so much for checking it out!

Really fun game with cool art too!

Submitted(+1)

The moment where you use the ability on youre self is amazing! Great puzzles!

Submitted(+1)

omg as soon as i started thinking about how cool it would be if you could shoot yourself, it became a mechanic. nice game!

Submitted(+1)

Was a cool moment when you realize you can speed and slow yourself down too using the reflectors. A very fun concept and game.

I'm not a platformer type of guy, but give me a gun and now're talking ^^

Love the fact that we can interact with the map via the gun, it is so cool!

The art is gorgeous btw,

Great Gameplay, Great Art, Great game ^^

Well done!
