Cool game, but I expected it to be like Doom.

Developer

Thank you! Haha definitely inspired by but very different indeed. Thanks for playing!

Hi!

That is something I wouldn't have expected to come out of this!

I haven't played a game of this genre in years!

Combat felt juicy and it had a nice little riddle to it. Even though I think I just found the end by accident.

Do the enemies ever hit you back?

I feel like sometimes I saw scratch marks that were supposed to be enemy hits, but couldn't really figure it out.

Great game overall!

Developer

Heya, thanks so much for playing!

I tried to blend a bit of those suuuuper oldschool RPG's with early Wolfenstein stuff, glad it rang true to that vibe!

The enemies indeed DON'T hit back actually haha, it was mostly lack of time; Designwise I had to choose between getting the full loop right but faking the combat OR finishing combat but never getting to finish the full loop, so that's the main reasoning behind it :) My main grief with that is any lack of challenge besides the timer, but the combat is so basic that I didn't mind too much. Especially since finding the door (or lucking into it in your case haha!) felt like a large enough challenge for how long people tend to play the jam-games.

Hope that gave some insights!

Great art style, makes punching the bugs quite satisfying!

Developer

Haha thank you so much!

Missed opportunity to call it Bug Slayer. Very fun to punch enemy bugs around and slam the door open to enter it. Well done!

Developer

Haha! Might've called it Slampire if it wasn't Countdawn... Thanks so much for playing, glad you liked it!!

I love that the UI is punchable, almost like the player has no patience for it (I often don't), even the final victory screen, reminds me of terminalmontage videos. Amazing artwork, very well done game.

Developer

Haha Glad you like it! the impatience was exactly what I was going for, I'm happy it clicked. Thank you so much for playing <3

in general it feels pretty polished but I personally feel it lacks in the gameplay department, it's still very cool

Developer

Thanks so much! Yeah it was a tough balance haha, hope to get to expand on it soon tho, flesh it out some more
