This game's got a super fun gimmick. The level where you're flapping from feather to feather was so fun! I also loved the little details of the bird losing its feathers. Those details don't go unnoticed! Overall super fun!

Super creative game design. I really loved the feather mechanic for multi-jump. Very fun and addictive. Great feeling platformer with good pace of increased difficulty for the levels as they progressed. I laughed when I got the the last level and it was Flappy Bird inspired. I liked the cute little chicks following you when you collect them.  Your real ducklings are adorable. I had a great time beating your game. Fantastic job!

DUCK PICTURE!!!! Thank you!!!

Also great use of the theme, especially because the feathers left by the double jump are relatively collectable, and pretty good puzzle design! Glad I got to see this game.

A solid platformer with a fun feather mechanic that limits how many jumps or short flights you can make. It fits the jam theme quite well, and the pixel art is very cute and pleasant. The mother duck and her ducklings are especially charming.

I also liked the Flappy Bird-inspired level and the moments where you run out of feathers mid-air and have to collect one before you can jump again. Those sections create a nice sense of vulnerability and tension.

The game is fairly short, which works well, and there is a pleasant amount of variety between the levels. Overall, it’s a charming and well-made little project. Great work!

Very good game. I like how you can pick up feathers you left behind jumping earlier, it adds a lot of mechanical depth and puzzle potential. Really nice music and spritework too!

Excellent bird-based platformer! I really like the implementation of your mechanic, which is really intuitive. Controls are great too.

I really like the art and the bald bird. Also the movement is so satisfying. Congrats!

This is a cool system for a platformer that I haven't seen too often, especially because you can reclaim your spent feathers. Well done!

Amazing game! I love how you can pick up down and jump off of it if you're quick enough. Love the artstyle too.

Such adorable pixel art and awesome puzzles! :)

A nice concept, and well executed. I like the mix and platforming and puzzle, even if there is too much feathers in the last levels. Good job !

Developer

Thank you!

too much feathers in the last levels.

Tried to tone down the difficulty a bit for this one. But, if you want a real challenge, try completing the last level backwards! Should be just enough feathers ;)

Submitted(+1)

That was really fun! I especially loved the last 2 levels that gave you so many feathers and ducks! Also really creative concept, I would have never thought of that!

Cool mechanic idea though I feel like it could've been used in more interesting ways as you often finish levels with more feathers than you need. Maybe they should've been made more scarce?  I had fun.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Most levels have more than one way to complete them and we tried to supply just enough feathers for the alternative routes. For example, try completing the last level backwards!

I thought your username was familiar and when I checked your profile, I very vividly remembered playing your GMTK entry last year and enjoyed it a lot (especially since we both did the same concept of dying and using your dead body to progress for last year's jam).

Coincidentally, this year both our entries involved ducks, which I found very silly and an insane coincidence.

The game was so dang fun and the feathers is genuinely a genius mechanic and was super fun to play with. The duck chicks were very cute and overall I could see this game being expanded on a ton, great work :)

Ha. What a small world! Maybe we should coordinate on purpose next year :)

Really fun and intuitive! Loved it!

This was a very satisfying puzzle platformer! The controls are well implemented - moving around was very smooth and responsive. As everyone else has said, the feather mechanic was enjoyable and creative. The level difficulty scaled really well - from tutorial to the flappy bird stage, there were a lot of interesting ways that the game introduced challenge without feeling unfair (I loved the verticality of the penultimate level!) I think it would be cool if there was a reward, or even just a popup for when you complete a level with the most amount of feathers possible still on hand. I also agree with previous points about the feather lag for recovering in tight situations. The art was funny and cute, and I also love the story on how this game was developed. Well done!

I love the Flappy Bird reference. I didn't even realize there was any similarity before. I really liked it—it felt great and was a fun platformer. Very satisfying!

The idea for that level only came to us near the end of the jam. Originally we had a different ending, but once we thought of the connection - we couldn't not do it. Thanks for playing!

Really fun game, with a really neat aesthetic♥. The feather mechanic was really intuitive, and it was fun to puzzle out solutions for the levels .I spent like 15 minutes beating the flappy bird level in reverse

level in reverse

I'm so glad that you figured that out. It is doable, though really tough. Well done!

Very fun game. I kind of like that if you mess up, you can just retrace your steps by grabbing the feathers. Difficulty and level design are awesome. The flappy bird level is cool (the last jump omg). I think of input buffer would be awesome if you have 0 feathers and are just about to grab one. The fact you go naked when you are at 0 is very funny. :D

the last jump omg

Ha. I died sooooo many times on that jump while testing, but laughed every time. It's an easy last skill test - but hilarious devastating to mess up.

The feather input buffering is cool idea. There is generous jump buffering on the ground, but adding it to the feathers in the air would probably improve the feel on those hard sections. Thanks for the feedback!

Good concept and decent visuals, I like the feather mechanic a lot!
