Fantastic work! It was a fun and memorable experience.

I loved the writing, made me giggle a few times. Will definitely come back for the ending after the jam. Great job on the artwork as well.

The writing is obviously the best part of the whole package. I think if you were to get some stronger visuals or even some moody sound effects that it could really add to the atmosphere of it all. Overall this is the first text only game I've played this jam and I quite liked it.

This was awesome! Really funny writing, and great visuals as well. I think I had a similar issue with the ending not loading correctly, but I loved the exploration prior to that. Really great writing and a lot of laughs on the way!

Great game!

Good writing, unique idea, fits the theme very well. good job!

You did really nice work with writing and the artistic design.

I would love to see some layer of a character control but I fully got the idea.

Congratulations on your submission!

Something might be broken about the ending.  I went to all five locations, I think, and for me the last messages were

She’d be…
Erm…
Better not to think about this too much.
Been so long, it’s nobody’s fault, right?...
Right?!

And then there just were no more options to pick from, which doesn't feel like an ending.
Nice story though, and a nice touch with the images showing. I think some sound effects in certain text parts could have added a lot to the atmosphere. And clicking to progress text just worked in the black box at the bottom, I think it should work when you press anywhere on the page.

Thanks for reporting this! It seems in some playthroughs this bug appears. I will figure it out and republish after the jam is over. Thanks for playing!

It was a pleasure to read through, a bit disappointing that there is no ending. I really wish for some sort of conclusion to the story!

Also some sounds could help to make the game more immersive.

Overall I appriciated a lot the creativity and the narrative part of the game. ^-^

Developer

Ah, I saw another comment about not reaching the ending. Did you play all five locations? Did you reach the sunrise bit?

Submitted

I'm not sure about the sunrise, but I played all locations and the game just stopped, no more options or dialogues left :(

Ugh... I'm so sorry! I will sort the bug out and republish when the jam voting is over. Thanks for playing and for your comment!

"Run this abomination" lol. Good writing! I felt for the poor count. I think the protagonist of your game and the protagonist of my game should get together one day, maybe they could be (sad) friends.

Developer(+1)

Indeed! Thank you for playing! I enjoyed your game, too. I think you are right about them being friends :-)

This was a somewhat mixed experience for me. Interactive fiction is not usually one of my favorite genres, but I still appreciated that the game had a proper story, a protagonist with personal thoughts and concerns, and a clear desire to discover something supernatural while exploring the castle at night.

Since English is not my native language, I didn’t understand everything immediately, but translating selected text in the browser was convenient. I also really liked the illustrations accompanying the different events—they added a lot to the atmosphere and presentation.

However, the lack of any music or ambient sound made the experience feel quite empty. Even a simple looping background track matching the mysterious nighttime atmosphere would have helped a lot.

My biggest issue was the ending. I explored all five locations—the library, balcony, corridors, tower, and wine cellar—but after the final choice, the story simply stopped. There was no conclusion explaining whether the protagonist found anything supernatural or failed to achieve their goal. I’m not sure whether this was a bug, something I did wrong, or the intended ending, but after following the entire story, the lack of any resolution was disappointing.

Overall, I appreciate the work put into the narrative, atmosphere, and illustrations, but the experience would feel much more complete with proper audio and a clear final conclusion.

Developer

Thank you for the comment and suggestions! There is indeed a resolution at the end. I think you have stumbled upon a bug... You played all five locations, but did not reach the sunrise, correct?

Submitted

Yes, nothing like that happened.

Developer(+1)

I'm so sorry! Thanks for your comment, I will try to sort the bug out!

No big deal. I'm at least glad to know there's an ending, and it wasn't meant to be that way :)

What a cute text based game!!! I really like writing here, nice story and interesting theme interpretation! Moreover the art of sprites is decent, i really enjoyed it, colors are also good fit to the story. Well done!!!

Developer

Thank you!

I'm so glad someone else thought of a sad vampire! I didn't end up doing that for my game but it's such a fun interpretation of the theme! And I love your reserved color pallet. Looks cool!

Developer

Hehe, thank you!

So that's a very original take on the theme, and a very original jam game it and of itself ! The game made me chuckle multiple times, good job for the writing 😄 And the few sprites are welcome and very neat !

Overall really well done :)

Those chuckles and such comments are exactly the salt on my wounds what warms my cold feet at night! Thank you!
