Nice take on the count down theme! Its kind of like multiple games in one game , pretty fun to play :D

Developer

Yep ! And we had ten other ideas that we decided not to implement because polishing is such an important thing. I'm a bit sad the we didn't find the time to add games and polish the main loop (smartphone, menu, scoring, sound etc.)

But, hey, if you had fun playing, that's all that matters!

Thanks a lot for leaving a comment!

Fantastic sound effects. I didn’t understand what “snap the cats” meant but the variety in games was great and inventive.

Developer

Well, we brainstormed for the mini-game titles and... snap de cats didn't have unanimity. We thought of other ideas but couldn't find something very evocative of what we expected from the player without being too close to the title of another game. Frame all cats, shoot the cats, gather all animals, have them all in picture... some of the ideas were better than others then the decision went towards snap the cats (which I personally don't like too much). Being able to follow the team is, I think, an important quality a dev must have, so I silently accepted and added it to the data of the game.

Tons of minigames! Really well done! Nice and creative idea!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad you felt like it was tons of minigames, because during development I was very scared 5 was too little for this kind of jam entry. Well, it seems it was just enough, which is a great relief for me.

To be totally fair, we had 10 other ideas and 3 uncompleted mini-games that we kind of scrapped in order to polish the rest. In the end, the polishing is correct and the amount of mini-games too. A bet that worked!

Thanks a lot for playing!

such a delightful game, give the kid a raise, she did well doing all the voices

Developer

Uh, she already eats enough sugar! What raise can we give this very smart 4yo kid?

Thanks for making me laugh, thanks for playing, thanks for commenting!

What a perfect interpretation—it’s a real pleasure to play.

Developer

Some of the shortest comment hit the hardest! Pleasure is exactly what we aimed for: objective accomplished!

Thanks for playing, buddy!

Couldn't pay my taxes by 1$, amazing game hahaha

Developer

Well, you could give that 1$ to Steam when we release the game later!

Just a joke, thanks a lot for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Really fun game! Love the voices!

Developer

Thanks! I'm not sure Élise totally understands how much she did for the game, it's hard to understand at her age. Still, she gets that she did something right, which makes us all happy.

Thanks a lot for your comment!

xd you make a great team together!

I really loved it! It's always a blast to play a WarioWare-style game with a collection of fast-paced microgames, and I especially enjoyed all the references hidden throughout the game's art. Great job—you did an awesome piece of work

Developer

Have you spotted the Nyan cat ?

I'm glad you had a blast playing our game! I showed it to my family ten hours ago and, strangely enough, they also had a blast! My games usually only win a little more than an unconvincing "meh", which kind of hurts. This year's game does everything right, it seems! Thanks for pumping up our rating and comments! So happy!

Submitted(+2)

I love the art so much! It's such a fun idea too. My team almost went with something similar but we knew we'd need to nail the art/presentation and didn't think we had the skills to get it done. Y'all killed it!

Developer

Choosing which game to develop is, for me, the hardest part of the jam.

The second hardest would be to decide what you scrap when the time starts running out. We did scrap a lot of very cool ideas in order to keep the game development in the 96 hours frame. But we still managed to have a finished product, I'm so happy.

It's very cool to read that we had similar ideas, I'm testing your game today!

Thanks a lot!

Great art style! Congratulatios!

Thank youuu!

Hope you get a chance to play my game too!

I will play your game next morning, before work

Hilarious game, had a blast playing it! The farm minigame was my favorite 🤣

Developer(+1)

A couple of streamers played the game live and all of them laughed! I'm not totally sure how we did that but it's a mission accomplished! I usually prefer serious games but... I'm starting to love finny game seriously built!

Have a nice day!

this is so peak........

Like, actually. Had a great time, very funny and fun. Pretty short but very memorable, also one of my favorites!!!!

Developer

You said memorable? How nice! It's the very first time I hear this from a commentor and it sooo coool to hear. Are you going to talk about us?

In our team, we have this little Discord channel were we put all the games we really liked and wish the others to experiment. Very useful to filter out the best of the best (even if all the games have their merits of course!)

Thanks for the kind words, I really, really, appreciate the formulation!

Submitted

Yeah! I've shared link to your game with a small local shitpost group of mine. Dunno if anyone played, but I hope so!!

Developer

Lovely!

Submitted(+2)

This game is amazing! It's so well polished considering the time frame, and I love the vibe this game has! Every game has you barely completing the objective within the time limit, and everything to the color palettes to the voices is really charming! Thoroughly impressed.

Developer

Yep! Every single year, we hesitate: are we continuing vanilla Javascript development or are we shifting to Godot ? The truth is we have more experience with Javascript and it's really hard to shift to a more powerful game engine. But we might do it next year. The first couple of game will probably be less polished but once we get the hang of it, we'll be able to go even further than the polishing we achieved here. Javascript is so cool ! And Godot even cooler !

Thanks for recognizing the polish we achieved with the sub-par Javascript engine (we built ourselves).

Unau is behind most of the drawing, his skill has no limit. I'm sure he's glad to read you.

Have a nice day!

Loved this game so much. Great spin on the WarioWare like genre with the camera. the humor throughout the whole thing was on point and continued to surprise me. Also the game feels incredibly polished.  First of the games I have played this jam that felt like "one of those really good ones". Hope you do well!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Developer

The solo project I built in the past had very little polishing and working with Unau, Sylber and MissingNoShiny allowed this new game to find a well balanced gameplay and a polish level I never reached before. All of the team members showed their best during the jam, preparing for even better work in the future. Your words are motivating, we want to make even better next year!

Also thanks for saying that our game is one of the good ones. I never heard this said about my work before, it's very touching.

Submitted(+2)

I really like this game! I hope you get a good rating

Developer

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🤩

Developer

It seems like people are very generous and very much like our game. We're very lucky that everything went so well! Thanks for playing!

Hmm - Actually - Brilliant
You play and pay rent at the same time
But you know what - I need that Hard Mode - I guess gotta wait for more inflation
9 out of 10 (before inflation)

Developer

Haha, we didn't have time to implement all ideas, but hardmode was definitely something we thought off, with some variations besides just the timer being lower... But time was against us 😁 We gladly take the 9/10 though, thanks a lot for your review!

Super cute style and great idea! Reminds me of some cute WarioWare games. The intro was very fun too. I would've just loved to have a button to re-do the current level after completing it.

Developer

I asked the team to add the button but I got a definitive "no" as an answer. At second thought, I think they were right to refuse but it's not easy to explain why.

Allowing the player to play again removes the surprise element of the game and reduces the "quick-thinking" gameplay element that is, in fact, the very essence of our game. If the game works that well, it's because the player has to think quick, to improvise and, most of all, to accept an incomplete ending of the game. A lot of the mini-games are very, very hard to complete during the 10 seconds and that's totally on purpose.

We still decided to give the player a second chance with... a calendar of ten days instead of only five ! Players have two chances to maximize their points in the mini-games, with enough time between two identical games to recreate the surprise effect. The first try of each game serves to understand what must be done, the second to score points and avoid the tax collector's punishment.

Sorry, I speak too much. Thanks for playing, thanks for the comment.

Ooh ok I get it. Thanks for the in-depth reply, I appreciate it! I think it makes sense. Also, please check out our game if you have some time, cheers!

Developer(+1)

Of course! Once I'm back on my computer instead of my phone, I'll try the game of everyone who commented here and even more. Thanks again!

(+2)

Very fun game i loved the fast paced action !
not knowing what i have to do before the mini-games feels exhilarating !
I loved the goofy art style and sound design too, matches the gameplay

Developer(+1)

A queen comment if there is one! 🤩 Thanks 🫶

Developer(+1)

We hesitated until the last 8 hours to add or not to add better mini-game explanations and after a difficult discussion and some code-testing, we decided against it. It was a very difficult moment for the team because we disagreed until the end.

The game as it is now has very little explanations, we tried to make the objectives clear with other means : color palette, two-word objectives, simplicity and references to other games.

It makes the games as much puzzle-y as action-y, which is what we wanted. We had so much ideas in the bank and so little time to implement them all.

Glad you played, thanks for the comment!

I think it was the right call to make it more of a surprise it creates a really fun sense of urgency and the visuals do a great job of suggesting what you need to do !

Developer

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Submitted(+1)

Hits a lot of high points. Really good story that sets up the whole game, the visuals are really well executed, and including your 4yo as a voice actor adds to the charm a lot (Although I will need to dock points for child labor (joke)). The gameplay is also fun and frantic. Even when fully understanding the objective of each task, and even when anticipating what each task is going to be, I still found myself rushing to get the task done. Each shot feels like I'm playing a different WarioWare microgame, despite fundamentally achieving the same goal.

My only real complaint is that the game is quite short. Although it does help with trying to encourage mastery of each microgame, having the 5 tasks repeat themselves within 1 run of the game does make it feel a little bit stale. Even with that said, I wouldn't bother trying to develop/improve this one after the jam. I think what's here is excellent.

Developer(+1)

How to say it... having a tester write such a long and detailed comment is both a praise for the commentor and commented. Thanks for the effort in writing a clear and well-thought breakdown of your gameplay experience. Thanks for giving us so much fuel to feed our motivation in continuing game development.

I agree with everything you said and... is it illegal if the 4yo asked me a hundred times to help before I eventually accepted? When does the child go to prison for bothering a working parent? Why can't I drag&drop her on the top of the Pisa Tower? Wait...

Arhum, nevermind.

I'm glad you played, happy to hear that our visions of the game in its actual state converge. We'll do even better next year.

A last thank you and have a nice day!

Submitted(+2)

Really fun! All the mini games were easy to understand and I had a good time playing it! :D

Developer

That's a relief! We were scared until the end that the mini-games would be rough to understand and our play-testers were a little too ambiguous. In the end, it seems we give the players the perfect amount of information to let them figure out what to do.

Thanks a lot for the reassuring comment.
