How does your game fit the theme?
The Towers COUNT the caged birds DOWN below. The games main mechanic - the towers gain power for each bird trapped directly under them. (Further explanation: we separate the 2 words count and down, so the towers get more power when they count more bird below them. )
(Optional) What would you like to be called if GMTK features your game?
LiboDev, Goatdog, Tony Andriamanana, Rob

Amazing art style, a ton of replayability. Love the take on the theme. Great work!
Love the art style of this game, it plays like a tower defense mixed with Terraria. I didn't notice a strong connection to the theme, but you made a fun game! Good job :)
First off, I liked the idea of the base building and how it works. I think the scaffold tile was really good, to allow for more intricate bases. I also liked how it launched the character like a rocket, making for some really enjoyable movement to catch the timebomb enemies. I would’ve liked to do more in the first few levels, while the base was building up, and I had basically nothing. Also, for a base building game, I would expect some sort of an ability to change the buildings (or at least destroy them). I think the game could’ve been harder too. Overall a really nice game, but these things brought down the enjoyment down a bit.
Very creative tower defense game, fun twist on the theme and very enjoyable and unique game all around. The artstyle is incredible and it sounds very atmospheric (albeit I have no clue why music defaulted to 10% and I kinda missed it on first playthrough). Only real feedback is maybe have the player restart before the build phase of a specific wave if they die (this is hard to implement so I understand why it's not a feature) and the ability to sell towers would be nice to have (perhaps at a lowered price to encourage people *not* to sell unless strictly necessary). Had a great experience with it and testing all the various towers and having to lure enemies in front of towers in a 2D platformer is a very unique experience.

Good game, really don't have much to add, will play more after the jam ends, you got a lot done for 4 days honestly ^^
creative interpretation of the theme! And I liked that it was a platformer and a tower defense ish in one!
Birb.
In all seriousness, this has been my favorite game from the jam so far, and I genuinely think the core concept is good enough that you could expand this into a full steam game. Imagine if the player had a few more movement options and was given a little more to do during each round (e.g. melee attacks), and if you could expand your base outward in all directions onto different islands...I could even imagine you guys coming up with a cool story for the game and adding a progression system where you unlock different towers over time as you beat levels. The concept of building out and having to navigate the fortress as you go is such a great idea.
I just wish you could remove tiles if you make a mistake, and that I could put birb cages in other places besides directly below the towers. XD
Birb.
Bro thank you so much for the feedback it means so much to me. I might end up experimenting and then putting it onto steam so to hear this feels very good. Thank you.
Great worldbuilding, and love the bird concept 5 stars on creativity!
I love the art and the idea of enemies also being your power source. Just two quick notes, though. First is that this game could really use a destroy action; there was a lot of times where I accidentally placed a build the wrong way or I wasn't using one anymore but I couldn't get rid of it. And second, I got stuck on one of the rounds about halfway through because I placed a gust that was pushing a cage breaker away, which never died. I would love to see this idea expanded further!
yikes sorry to hear that
this is an astonishing amount of polish for such a short amount of time, strong hollow night artstyle vibes
notes:
I would buy it on steam if it was available. It's the most time I had spent playing a submission for this jam lol
Edit: forgot to mention that this game gives me huge flash vibes (I LOVE FLASH GAMES)
Birb thanks you for your kind words, It really does make my day to get a comment like this and yeah I loved flash games too🫡
glad you enjoyed :)
Interesting concept, the art is really pretty, reminds of hollow knight for some reason. I like the mechanics with the cages, well done! Only thing I'd say is in the early game it's a bit difficult to kill any of the enemies as you need to lure them in front of the towers.
Very cool game ! I love the concept, the art is amazing. I'd definitely play a full version of this, I had a lot of fun !
Art is amazing, gameplay is interesting, soundscape is beautiful. Keep it up.
At start I was only able to kill bats by jumping and luring them infornt of my shotgun towers, is that correct?
Yes, luring the enemies to your tower is part of the game. The main idea is that you have to balance luring the enemies, catching the birbs, and stopping the cage breakers. We made it like this so the platforming part of the game is more engaging. Im really glad you likes the art il let our artist know. Thank you for playing.
Good idea as gameplay !
Birbs! The art is really nice. Visuals gave me a hollow knight feel. Fun gameplay!
