Had a lot of fun with this! The upgrade loop was super satisfying, and the growing sword was hilarious. Great polish, nice work! 馃憦

Such an adorable and well-made art style. The little intro was funny, and it reminded me of another metaphorical game about a knight slaying a dragon, but his sword grows lmao. Good job!

Developer

Haha, that game was for ludum dare 48 and it inspired me a little bit. Thanks for feedback!

This game is so incredible! The music and graphics are just spot on—easily one of the best games in this jam!

If you have a moment, I鈥檇 love it if you could check out my game, Fever Knight, as well!

Developer

Thank you! I am happy that you liked it. I will definitely check out your game today!

One of the most cohesive and well rounded games in this jam.
The style and sound are absolutely adorable, and goes to show how little things like wobbling animations can do so much for the game's look.
Gameplay is addictive and well balanced, i didn't feel like i was grinding but it wasn't too easy.
My only gripe with this is theme. The only thing burning is a star and that is a stretch, to be honest, because it has no gameplay effect on the game.

On the side note: you game runs in minimal resolution when playing in browser, which results in text that is too small and it is not convinient to use the mouse. I suggest you to change the resolution the game plays in browser by editing the game's embed options on itch.

Thanks! About the theme I didn't want to implement it too straightforwardly by adding burning chairs or something like that. The slowly burning progress and the plot-based theme interpretation, with the knight's burning heart and the star that literally burns while waiting for him, is what I wanted to do. Maybe it's not enough and the theme interpretation should be more gameplay-related, but that's how I saw it. Thanks for playing it, I'm happy that you liked it!

This game taught me a very important lesson.

Growing wheat solve all your sword length related problems.

But now talking for real, this game is a very smooth experience, a nice incremental loop, and well polished animations and gameplay. Good Job.

thank you! i'm really happy you enjoyed, it means a lot to me to get such a fun feedback on my game :D

Wow, what an absolute joy to play! :D

Things I loved:

  • Really good incremental loop, well-balanced, perfect for the length!
  • Fantastic art + sound design, especially impressive for a solo dev! The growing sword was seamless and all the assets felt very cohesive
  • So damn wholesome, smiling ear-to-ear the entire time ^-^
  • Performance was silky smooth

Things I'd love to see:

  • The cost of the plots seemed a little out of whack with the rest of the economy - I feel like the berries / roses could've been more expensive to unlock! I had enough to unlock them all almost immediately which then made going around to grab them not as satisfying as I feel like it could've been
  • I think the upgrade menu could be recooked a little - the UI looks great and the zoom-in is good, but as you upgrade so often it was kinda odd having to constantly open it to see if I had enough to get something, if that makes sense?
  • Oh also had some weird white lines pop up every now and then on the background (almost like a broken TV screen? not sure)

Might be my fave of the jam, great work mate :)

we all gotta chop some wheat to get our swords longer some day lol. Very great game, and the motivation to play through it till the end is very clear - I love it!!!

Developer(+1)

Haha thanks, it means a lot to hear that. I tried to make the goal clear and I'm glad that you liked it :D

Very fun. I get weirdly addicted to these kinds of games but thankfully this one was on the shorter side. I could definitely see myself playing something like this at a larger scale for hours.

Developer

thank you, i'm so happy you liked the game! :D

So much style and personality, I love it!

The amount of feedback and juice made for a very satisfying little game loop.

Also, the "hot star" joke was really funny.

Very fun and satisfying game play loop.

Love watching some numbers go up.

I figure I didn't even need to but I got all the upgrades anyway because it was a nice time :)

Well done!

Thanks!

Very, very juicy game. Just beat the game and animations all feel super bouncy. Ended up being a nice change of pace from the other games I've seen. Cozy atmosphere, with silly vibes and upbeat 8-bit music, class job, really well done!

Developer(+1)

Love to hear it, thank you!
