How does your game fit the theme?
Down to Timing turns the countdown into a gameplay tool, where players must listen, count, and learn the timings of their movements to make their way down each level before the clock runs out.

I really appreciate the concept of the game as I am really fan of time itself ^^ Sometime a bit frustrating when not being able to complete one after some attempt but I kept going again and again and that's I think what you want from your player. Really nice one, my only issue was the brightness of some color on some of my screen but that's a me issue xD
Thanks for playing and the kind words! There is a setting to turn off the CRT effect in the video settings, that shader boosts the glow of the colours so may solve the issue. Thanks again!
I tried to think further about what bothered me about this game. I deleted my previous comment to provide better feedback:
It's always difficult to make a game fun where you deny visual feedback to the player. The first playthrough of a level is essentially random because the player has no information at all -- so it's not very interesting to play. I realized that I made a game with a similar concept before (Rob 'Em Blind). It has the same idea where you play a level in the dark with two key differences: The player has a very faint sliver of vision around them which reduces some frustrations, and the player can practice the level with full vision beforehand. Of course, I am not suggesting you should copy both those ideas -- your game is different after all. But perhaps it gives you some ideas on how to improve the feedback provided to the player. Perhaps, the lights are on at the beginning of the level and turn off after 0.5 seconds.
Of course, you could also add many auditory elements that the player can touch/graze to make sound like grass, windchimes, etc. This would help the player form more accurate auditory map of a level while using the metronome for a sense of time.
Thank you for the constructive approach with your comment, I can't remember what your old comment said but appreciate you coming back to provide more insight. I do like your idea of a quick glimpse, something I considered actually "putting" a blindfold over the camera when the level started but it was a personal design pillar to iterate on each level slightly and be able to mess with the player as the layout changes unexpectedly (level 7 for example). I will mess around with the blindfolding idea post-jam!
As for sound, I was having a hard time finding sounds that went together and described nicely what they were portraying. Hopefully after the jam, I have more time to look/create sounds that work for the actions you mentioned. I also like the idea of giving level locations sound to help the player orient themselves, something that may benefit from a restyle from basic neon to a blindfolded ninja in grass with gongs etc. Something for me to think about.
Hope you enjoyed nonetheless! Thanks again!
Super cool concept and execution! Very cool use of the theme with metronome mechanics. Good stuff!!
This game was amazing, I dont think I have ever played a game that i truly had to rely on a metronome to complete levels. The last stage i thought i was never going to finish but eventually cleared it. Master class in level design and this works sooo well with the theme!
Very creative concept! I don't think I've played many games where you can't see anything!
Being blind is sometimes more fun than I would have ever guessed!
Great idea and execution!
Really cool concept and application of the theme. The metronome really helps put everything together. Simple art style and witty humor between levels is also quite nice. I think it's a bit on the harder side as its quite strange to get used to, and having no way to learn the level except for running into obstacles makes it a little frustrating. I think a "free camera" or such mode may be able to help, where you would be able to see the whole level just so you can have a little bit more of an idea going into each one, rather than just waiting to die to see anything.
man I aint got the rythm to play this. pretty cool concept tho
The game feels pretty polished, also the timeline at the top is a neat idea as well.
Thank you! That bar was one of the last things I added, you can thank my boss for that idea!
Fun, but wow that last level was hard. cool idea and good execution though
I really like the idea, but i wish there was some sort of feedback when the player hit some sort of a surface when playing. It just the fact that there is a wall slide mechanic that threw off everyone that played it. But other than that, this is the most unique game by far, and you're kind enough to make it playable on android (i have no pc) i wished i could give 6 star rating you know.
I would say, this game is quite the jam!
Wow a theoretical 6 star rating is quite the praise! I really appreciate the kind words.
I have future plans for levels using the wall hang, levels that didn't quite make it into the jam. Thanks for playing!
Trial and error… just like real life! gg
the vintage visual performance is simple but cool !
Very simple, but effective idea! A bit trial and error, I would have preferred if you got to see the level at least once at the start for like 1 second so you don't have to stumble in the dark as your first try every time, but beside that I loved it!
This is very original and creative! I think the idea has a lot of potential if you introduce new gameplay mechanics as the game progresses. Fantastic work!
Good idea?
Nice game where you have to rely on other senses than vision. The metronome really did help with "visualizing" where the pits/obstacles were. As someone who also made a rhythm game, I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
Real sleek execution! At first I thought not seeing would be frustrating but the little progress bar and timing mechanic gave me the feed back I craved!
This was a super creative idea! I was worried when I saw a metronome since I have no rhythm, but the setup is clever in a way where I didn't really need it to succeed! I kept trying until I got the hang of a level and it was super addicting. I also love the CRT-style. The style in general was amazing! The way the text appeared one word at a time, reminded me of Superhot, which I also loved. Great stuff!
Thank you for the kind words! And yes, Superhot was the inspo for the text!
