Was this also submitted to the Very Serious Game Jam?

Developer

Yes. The jam theme was spin to win (my idea: keep the windmill spinning). Since it got a count down for each round, it fitted this jam too

Okay, I rapidly figure out in my second try that you repair faster than the axe guy damage and that there is a limit of 7 ennemis on the screen so you can stack all of them in a line at a side a just hold repair to the other side x)

Other than that cool concept, coherent upgrade and nice little challenge without the trick !

not sure what the optimal strategy is. wish there were ways to upgrade the windmill rather than just your player since I felt like adding defense to the windmill would've been a better option than defense to myself. I enjoyed the short experience anyway!

I enjoyed trying out the different upgrade options.

Balancing rebuilding the tower and actively fighting was a super fun idea! It made it pretty challenging at times. Thanks for making this!

Great visuals, fun game, I like that there's enough time to dodge enemy attacks, after a few tries I did a full +attack run and had a lot of fun dodging with so little health left near the end. Only on maybe the last 20 seconds (on a 3 minute run) did I get enough attack to one shot all enemy types.

I love the background. The sprites all go so well together and with the UI

This was fun. It definitely feels like there's a "correct" strategy to play the most effectively. Which is fun to figure out, but it would be cool to have more play styles be rewarded/viable.

One of my favorite parts is the upgrade selection has correct and incorrect options. (in my opinion at least) For example, it takes experimentation to know how much to upgrade your attack to be able to two-shot certain enemies, and how much to upgrade it more when they randomly increase health. And also that speed is deceptively useful, even though it's just speed. If you really think about it, attack and speed are the only ones that help protect the windmill (as far as I'm aware), and for the other ones it's just figure out how many max hp increases you need until it's worth it to just set health to 100% when you're low.

Oh and I can't help but notice that my game is also an action themed enemy battler where you have to balance attacking enemies and repairing a central object, and if said central object runs out of health, you lose the game, and there's exactly three types of opposing entities trying to stop you that like to clone themselves to attack all at once. (Unless there's more than three in your game and I didn't play far enough in that case my bad)

Also did you pick windmill of all things for any reason (like you had the art, it would look cool at night, you wanted it farm-themed), or did you just decide windmill for fun>

Thank you for trying it out and for adding a detailed comment. I will check your game out!

I was looking for assets on CraftPix (my go-to site for ideas and game assets), found the windmill asset with characters and thought I could incorporate the jam theme.
