Ranked from 33 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
Accretion is built around two countdowns. One is more literal, you have a set amount of time before being consumed by the black hole. The second is a little bit more subtle in the form of radiation. You're constantly trading time against exposure, and deciding whether to push forward or wait until the black hole is in a better position.

Prob. my favourite Visuals and asthetics in the jam so far. Im a sucker for space games and this one just delivers on the atmosphere! The feeling of leaving the station and trying to avoid the black hole just hit a certain spot for me... Amazing Work!

Amazing artstyle that gives me "Control I'm not coming back" vibes, I think the movement could've been a little bit better, it's quite hard to navigate on the exterior, I'd like to see this expanded further, great job!

I really appreciated how thoughtful the movement system was. This was really fun to play. Great work!

The controls and minimalist sound design suit the space environment very well. I feel like watching your station get swallowed by a black hole would make this game much more terrifying. Still, it felt pretty tense having to swing myself behind cover to avoid a lethal dose of radiation. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback and for playing!! Getting swallowed by the blackhole is already one of the endings (when the time runs out) but I think most people die from the radiation before they run out of time since dosage scales higher as you fall in further.

I really like this one! Great execution

Really cool visuals. I thought the controls were a cool way to make you feel like you were navigating in zero gravity. I did often get stuck trying to exit the ship because I'd get stuck. Overall cool game with a cool vibe

I opened a door and promptly died...It's safe to say I made the right call not pursuing becoming an astronaut as a vocation.

Joking aside its amazing, it's giving a really refreshing and interesting mix of games such as Iron Lung mixed with the intense depiction of space travel in For All Mankind or Star City (really good TV shows I wholly recommend)

fantastic work!!!

What a great compliment!! Thank you so much for trying it out. It seems like opening the door and promptly being blasted by radiation is a common issue haha! Probably should've reduced that a bit more. I'm glad you mentioned those shows, reminded me that I've been meaning to watch them for awhile!

Wow the black hole in the menu looks soo cool.

U really cooked hard.

That was fun, and the art style really sells the idea. I love the design of the controls for the character, interact to pull gives a strange "not in control"/"frustrating" feeling that complements the stress of the story.

Really enjoyed the visual style of the game and the movement mechanic. Hope you develop it further, congrats on completing the game jam!

Very interesting idea for the movement, takes some using to, but once it clicks, it's really fun! Loved the aesthetic as well!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I definitely wish I had more time to implement a better tutorial in the game, especially for the movement. I really appreciate you and your teammate coming over here to try it out! Thanks for the feedback ;)

Apparently I have black hole phobia haha (melanoheliophobia)! Really nice shader, very immersive gameplay! The only annoying thing was I sometimes got stuck inside the ship and was unable to exit because of the radiation and the slow movement. But this game fits the jams theme very well!

Developer

I appreciate you trying it out!! Sorry if the game triggered your phobia haha!
Thanks for the feedback!

with most games that have multiple endings, i usually only do 1 or 2 just for sake of time, but this game looked so good and was such a cool concept i couldnt bring myself to stop until i got every ending

really good game, deserves more recognition

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!

It's a very creative game. The pulling yourself with your mouse mechanic is something I've never seen before in a game. Good work!

Amazing atmosphere, just difficult enought, really cool game, Congratulations!

Really enjoyed this one! The black hole + radiation mechanic kept me on edge the whole time, and the atmosphere was super well done. Took me a bit to get used to the movement, but once it clicked it felt really satisfying. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Movement was definitely difficult to balance but I'm happy to hear that you got the hang of it after awhile

Really appreciate you checking the game out!

Very good Game! The Graphics are phenomical, and the Gameplay and mechanics are just so well done. Funny that we both saw the theme countdown and thought: hmm Black hole!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Haha yeah! I actually made the black hole renderer earlier this year as a portfolio project, and saw the jam theme and was like "yup! that's perfect!"

Thanks for trying the game out!

Really enjoyed getting to play Accretion - love a game with a doomed cosmic vibe, and it definitely delivers there. The graphics are fantastic and made me very nostalgic, and the simplicity of the controls make them very easy to pick up and stay with. Played a few times and only managed to get ending 1, but a really fantastic little game! Congratulations, Cannolicat!
