I’m not a native English speaker, so it was too difficult for me. I actually had a similar idea for this game jam, but I decided to go with a different one. I think you executed it really well!

How does your game fit the theme?
The game is a legally distinct but shameless rip-off of Countdown. It requires players to race against the clock to find the highest scoring word possible, and likely makes them count down the seconds until it ends because it's a bit rubbish.

came for the silly word games, stayed for the goofy music
really fun! definitely "countdown" hahaha
well done!
Congrats on your first jam! Commend you for pulling together something that works and is decently fun to play even after having to abandon another project.
We had the idea for this interpretation of the theme while brainstorming, so I'm glad someone went and made it!
I had as much fun as a dyslexic guy can and learned some new words! Good job!
It is a excellent idea bring this up but as someone who has weak vocabulary it can be challenging.
But overall i like this game. Good job!
I liked the the last mode the most, I think (I only tried that and the first). There are some QoL improvements that could be made (would be nice to not have to use the mouse at all, clearly showing what the limit is) but with the way you had cheats in the final one also got me thinking of how this game could play out if rogue-like…
Play-through:
Fun game! Pretty simple but I really like the concept and love word games in general, with a bit more presentation and polish I could see this being a banger I come back to frequently.
This is really solid for a few hours of work! I'm quite bad at coming up with words under stress as it turns out, and the host feels unbeatable with the crazy words that they pull out. But getting anything complete to submit in a few hours is definitely impressive, especially in your first jam. Great work!
Congrats on your first jam! This is a really fun little word game!
Well done on your first game jam!
The game has good look and feel to it.
The fact that it runs is good enough for a first jam (once again, we had about a 66% dropout rate this year); but the polished feel is extra nice.
:)
The main thing I would like to see is a different/bigger dictionary.
The words "rip" and "I" were not in there.
I got "tram"; but (and this is a challenge with all these types of word games) once I stop trusting the dictionary the game changes to "what's the bigger word that I think the dictionary will *actually* have?" .
Thanks so much for playing, and for your feedback - it's massively appreciated!
Yeah, it was a bit of a mad dash to get something functional for submission, so I'm quite pleased with the end result. That said, there's definitely a few areas I want to tighten up on, and the dictionary is one of the bigger areas in that respect! I'll be looking into what's causing this particular issue and fixing it for the next release, so I really appreciate the feedback here to put it on my radar! I think I'll be adding a way for the player to open the game's dictionary for reference, so hopefully that'll address that concern you've noted around "what words will it actually have"
Thanks so much for the feedback, really means a lot!
Yeah, I think I'll probably add a more 'friendly' mode where players can essentially look at the dictionary at any time (the clock will still continue to count down though), and I'll probably add it as a 'cheat' option in Survival mode as well - my solution for the existing game modes is at the end of each round we'll have a little interstitial option to go to 'Lexicon Junction' where the game will show definitions for each word to demonstrate they are legal and valid.
I like the idea of calling the host on making up words, but I'm not sure I understood how to intercept. And unfortunately the music cut out at some point mid-game! Fun idea--I love a word game!!
Thanks so much for your feedback - I think I definitely need to polish up the interception mechanics a little, as they're not as clear as I would like. I'll certainly look at them for the next release to get them to a better state. Also, really appreciate the feedback on the audio issue, I hadn't encountered that myself but I'll add it to the list to get it fixed.
Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback!
