Really loved the watercolor art in this one! Learning that you hand painted them all makes it even more special. The way you layered in the different music as you're moving through the story was jarring... but it works and fit with the dissonant vibes of the game. Really nice work!
Great work, clearly a lot of thought and effort was put into this. The art really added to the story.
I imagine a full point & click out of this and I'd love to play it. It's also nice as is. Maybe the music felt a bit uncoordinated when adding up (I played web version, maybe it's related), and the texture behind the texts could be softer to make them easier to read.
Yes, it's kinda sad, but it makes these feelings acknowledged, which feels good at the same time.
Thank you for playing! I am happy to hear that.
Also, thanks for the feedback! Actually, the music depends on the choices you make, and I didn't have the time to check all of them unfortunately, so I can fully understand that. It is written in 7/4 too, so already kind of unconventional I guess.
With regards to the texture behind the texts, there actually is an option which makes the text backgrounds mostly white ("high contrast"). I don't know whether this already solves the problem?
Maybe I'll do a bigger one afterwards. I think that's a nice idea. :)
Hi, thanks for the offer! If you want to, you certainly can! I would be interested in the combinations which you find don't match well. :) But of course don't feel pressured to do it. I'll definitely refine it a bit more after the jam, but now I don't think I will make a much bigger game out of this one. Instead I will probably write another text adventure with the lessons I've learned from this first one. :)
I loved the watercolor artstyle, it's sad but more real than we imagine. The music was also great and I loved how it slowly progressed with the story. Good work!
a beautiful bummer of a game! the art style is really nice to look at, did you waterpaint the images and then scan them in? thank you for submitting this, it's really well done <3
Nice art and atmosphere. It felt like reading a beautiful storybook!
I liked the realization of the helplessness of humanity in the face of environmental catastrophes. I hope our golden days last for a long time.
Honestly, narrative games like this that have such a story that can impact people are some of my favourite games. The narrative in this game is exceptional, not just in the story that it tells but also how you tell it, the detail in the pictures, the build up of the music and the subtle countdown are all ways you've used the advantages of game storytelling to make something really unique. One of the best submissions I've played so far!
Very very pretty game and love how the music bulds up but would've loved more choices , but that's just me wanting more!
Absolutely love your watercolor! And the theming is great! Thank you for this game, loved it!
Love the art style, this game does such an excellent job at educating about events related to climate change. Clicking the question mark on the side gives tons of interesting info.
It pains me to see there are many famous people who openly deny climate change. Those who face the consequences know just how seriously the worlds needs to take this issue. I appreciate you for using the jam theme to spread awareness about this issue.
Thank you for the review! I hope my project could spread some of these information, as well as make people reflect their feelings about environmental catastrophes.
With regards to the deniers, I feel the same. However, I think that (at least in my home country, Germany) only a minority denies climate change. Unfortunately, politicians are more likely to do just that...
Very beautiful game in everything, art, narrative and audio!! Thank you so much for this !
This one felt different than the other games in the jam.
Well polished, great art, great audio. Playing it does make me pretty sad though.
Thank you for playing and the feedback. I do feel the same, actually. I was quite happy that I was able to finish it after these four days ...
Don't forget to talk about these things with people you are close with, or maybe consider joining some related groups. It really helps.
Anyway, wishing you well!
Such an important game with a powerful message... thank you for sharing! <3
How did you make those gorgeous art assets? Traditionally painted/scanned, or digital?
They look amazing. Great job! :)
This is great!! I love the art, and the story is told so well!
what a devastating, beautiful art game. your writing is wonderful and feels so impactful paired with the visuals.
