I like playing typing games whenever I want to test out a new keyboard and switches, or if I just want to practice my typing speed, so I really enjoyed this! The music was pretty relaxing too, overall a fun way to improve your typing skills :)

This one was too real lol, good game!

The concept are interesting. The visuals are amazing. Love the Win7 UI. The only problem for me is the text keep re rendering (and move everything everywhere) and the cursor not blinking  (making it hard to locate it). I think using monospace fonts might help. As for the words, you can trim when the wrong word is too long and add blank space or underscore when the wrong word is too short to make the text not move so much. Good game.

I thought the visuals were funny and the concept was good! To me, it felt like it got a little boring after a while, as I didn't exactly know what or when to expect something to change.

Wonderful game. I myself got kinda burnt-out and just started typing random letters about halfway through. Didn't read the description so I had no idea that the building was burning down and busted out laughing when I realized what was happening.

As many have pointed out, the game is, indeed, tedious. We made a huge mistake by postponing balancing and QA till the very last day and that resulted in a game that is too long and uneventful to hold the player's attention.
If you wait long enough (5-ish minutes of real time), flames and smoke starts to appear,  which was supposed to show the absurdity of this situation, as you should be bolting out of the building, but as a true company man you keep on until your work is finished.
We will keep that experience in mind when creating our next game.
Thanks for the feedback!

honestly, I feel like the fact that the game is tedious only speaks more to feeling burnt out. I honestly think it makes the game feel more real. Like it helps with the point it's making a bit. You play as an employee who is feeling ill motivated to do their job. The fire is just a nice excuse to stop working on their paper. Genuinely think the game is better for that harmony between narrative and gameplay.

To summarize, keep it tedious, and maybe even lean into that more. I honestly thought you were expected to just give up halfway through and that it was intentionally tedious. It is called 'Burnout!' after all.

As a non-native English speaker, I find it really helpful to play games like this, haha :D

Thanks! This game can actually be a good way to test your fluency at typying in English, i agree! Hope you had fun while doing so!

I got bored with writing and started just randomly pressing stuff; we can say that I quit :D

But if the articles were %95 shorter, that would at least make me go through the end.

There was a game in Very Serious GameJam (or something like that) it had a typing mini game in it and you didn't have to accurately press the buttons, it was so fun just smashing keyboard, and reading a whimsical text.

I mean actively "typing"helps player read the thing and feel included(?), it felt like a game, so this mechanic is not to blame but too much realism and this boring office job becomes an actually boring office job lol

Thanks for the game it granted me some insight

P.S: There is nothing wrong with using stock photos, I honestly love seeing memey kinda stuff in jam games.

I did the same thing lol. Then I realized the place was burning down. Employee of the month right here.

Hey, Thanks for a detailed feedback! It is really helpfull when it comes to gaining experience.

Now that i actually played it, it is kinda boring to play. Crazy thing to say for a dev, but yeah. As i have said in a post above, we were delaying balancing and QA, because we didn't really realized the scope of a project and thought that we will manage.
Initially, we were planning to have all kinds of stuff: mini games during typing (like answering to phone calls, or using a fire extinguisher to deal with burning, etc), ingame shop to add a progression to the game among other things. We ended up creating the bare minimum for the typing system and "kitbashing" basic visual assets in 5 days, with last 2 being spent to finish the essential parts and some polish.

As for the texts themselves, i don't think that they need to be THAT short, but shortening them would definitely help. The game actually has shorter texts, which are 2 times shorter. but they appear at level 2 and 3, and only after finishing the long one.
When i was searching about average typing speed of people, i found out it was something like 200 symbols per minute. And at the moment i though "hmm, two hundrod", and my brain just didn't click and i thought it was 200 words. So, yeah.

I mean uh.. I didn't enjoy the game at all maybe it would be more fun if I was really good at English, game feels dull and like educational game, but hey the music is good. The cutscenes felt weird almost like slideshow but you are like "Oh so i was supposed to click something!". I can't praise the graphics since that's just stock images and I get that its for the humour but that will hurt your stars in that category. The thing that you use for typing should be flashing or should be in different color because it looks like "l" . I expected the game to be fast for some reason but I am not a fast typer so yeah It was exhausting lol.  Edit: i dont know why the hell it send 3 times but ok... Second edit: I think that you misspelled "told" at one point.

I feel you. Game does feel kinda boring, especially to someone who doesn't have enlgish as their first language.
We were kinda going for the dull and eduacational vibe, but leaned too much into it, so it ended up backfiring.
I didn't even think about adding a hint as to what buttons to push at the start, because as a dev i find it hard to see things from a perspective of someone who is not familiar with the game at all. Good thing you pointed it out, we will add a hint when the jam is over.
As for the visuals and assets, i disagree. While it does look cheap, i think it adds a certain charm and humorous tone to it. But, hey, to each their own.
Thanks for the feedback!
