Very solid hotline miami-like. The movement and gunplay felt smooth. The visuals were a bit rough at times, especially the intro and then the holes in levels. If you got a version of the level with black and white floors, the holes blended in a bit too much. Plus being the same color as the walls did not make them stand out as instant kills so much. I wish there was a reply button that did not require sitting through the whole credits, especially when you died by falling down a hole. That said, the game was definitely fun so nicely done!
Thanks for the feedback! I believe the space key skipped the intro and credits, but we only had it there for testing - we entirely forgot that we needed to either tell the user that or add a button instead! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As for the holes, maybe we needed to hide something ominous and scary in there to show that it’s an instant kill… perhaps screenshots of code I wrote, which would probably do 100 psychic damage :3
Good to know about the space key! That would definitely help. If I ever forget anything in the game I usually toss it in the game's description because I have definitely forgotten to put things in regarding certain controls before. Something ominous in the holes would definitely help, or some form of small visual hint that it goes downward.
I must say the game was very fun to play! It was very chaotic, and I loved the unique, futuristic, neon look that you were going after! I also absolutely loved the visuals; when the player takes damage, it was very unique (although i got pretty dizzy when i was spinning around my character like a ballerina) Loved the game!!!
Thanks Outsanes! I loved your game too, I think this jam brought out the best skills of a lot of developers and artists :)
Like a color is your used to this game, peak and look like a hi fashion or filling something.
Thank you :D
fun concept, a funny name, and amazing art!
Thanks sweet, that means an awful lot to us :) Lucy, our artist, makes games too and is able to put even more time into the art for those, you might like the art for them too!
Looks great, I really liked it
Thanks Ziv! Lucy, our artist, worked very hard on making it all look just right (and making sure we disabled linear filtering so it didn’t ruin her great pixel art)!
Cool short game, reminded me of hotline miami.
Thanks M4laise! Hotline Miami is one of our Artist’s favourite games :)
Great work by the LavenderStones team on a memorable entry!
Thanks ZHIEND! That means a lot :)
Hard game. You can get stuck a lot of times between enemies, and you cannot do anything about it. Also unskippable credits right after death is very annoying, a retry option should be better and credits should be reserved when game beaten. Otherwise the gameplay was actually fun except for the things I mentioned.
The AI Overlords are proud of their cybersecurity, no such human breach ever happened!
Or at least that’s what their media release said.
In reality, the bullets are just 2D areas that move a certain amount of units each physics frame - if it moves from one side of an enemy to another, it appears to pass right through! Perhaps us developers should’ve done some vector maths or at least extended the hitbox backwards….
But admitting this would make Cloudy-GPT plug us back into it’s system. Don’t tell them I was here! - A
nice game with strong visuals
(1) Incoming Message From 2134AD AI Overlords:
Wanted to play it already just on the basis of the name, great choice
I liked the aesthetic and crispy sounds/music.
More (timed? maybe when you wander away?) enemies would have been nice, I ran out of things to shoot lol
The people of 2134CE thank you for your diligent marksmanship!
Jokes aside, the AI overlords ran out of budget so could only afford a few !!!SALE!!! Slimes, any more would have cut into their bottom line and they would have to lay off… well, they had no employees left.
Good game, but too hard for me. I like the idea that bullets reduce the amount of time. Also, it looks like you have linear filter enabled on some textures, and they appear blurry. Maybe you did that on purpose, but if not, it’s easy to turn off in the project settings.
Thanks Nik! The AI Overlords hid backdoors in their program, hidden under some barrels, to get through to the next levels. Or they didn’t have time to make a new tile. Who knows.
Oh, and the slimes used to be really tanky for some reason. It was like shooting ballistics gel with frozen peas. That’s been fixed in our final build thankfully!
As for the texture filtering, that’s been fixed in our final build too, because otherwise our artist will come and throw our computers out of the window.
Happy Jamming!
