A blast from the past, surely someone's grandfather had seen this and kept it to himself instead of spreading it to the world.
I’m left we a profound: “What?”
I like the touches of surrealistic meta in the date and page numbers.
I like the “still roll each turn”
My players would hate the ending :-D
“continued on page 86”… just perfect. The writing is top notch. The perfect place to lure some greedy adventurers.
The chance on wandering encounters seems a bit low? I do like the addition of keeping rolling the dice even if all Goblens are defeated!
Tightly written, very gameable dungeon with a cool pre-amble!
Great writing voice with tons of personality, but still sparse and readable.
Style!
If running I would probably change the wandering monsters from just goblens to include some more variety for the players.
I love how it's an excerpt from an actual book! Very simple visually but clean and book-like as intended so great job there. The prose is written clear and succinctly. I think I like that it's not in bullet points nor bolded - a book you read wouldn't be. I can focus on the content! Overall, lovely job.
Some layout things to consider:
1. Justified text looks a little wonky as it leaves a lot of gaps, especially in this column space you've set up.
2. The font chosen was a bit difficult to read even zoomed in on digital, especially the locations on the map.
Cool stuff especially the framing device like it's an extract from a longer work. Also enjoyed the fuzzy staticy map, like it was being transmitted from the Overworld!
Nice and simple dungeon delve in a very neat package! Reminded me a bit of articles from Dungeon magazine, but your adventure predates it by quite a few decades :D
Great vibes here and I love the conceit that it's an excerpt from a larger book, that's very cool.
The writing was an extremely pleasant surprise. Extremely well written. The layout is simple, easy to read, and thematically on point. Really excellent work, Sean!
