Neat module full of personality! The characters are great and the auction items seem like they could be worth the steep cost.
The one thing that I was missing is a suggestion or something on how run the auction and incorporate the bidders.
i do LLOOVVEE this! Not an adventure, but WHO CARES! i want this stuff shoveled down my throat right now!!1
Very whimsical and fun, it promises hysterics and delight every step of the way. Big fan of all the over the top characters! They give the GM full permission to stretch their legs and ham it up.
I’m not a friend of those pocketdimension-minigames which almost never fit the tone of campaigns I’m running. But this is beautifully done: macabre and witty at once. the cast is absurd, the mechanics easy to grasp, the stakes high and the hooks make it easy to justify this strange place being part of the campaign’s world now. Love it.
This is really creative and fun. I've just watched your video (I didn't pick up on the connection between items and NPCs, so thanks for pointing that out).
I could see myself using this in various games, so I hope I get to run it soon :)
Awesome! Yeah I was definitely intentional about it, trying to make the connection. I think it's easy to get tunnel visioned and design something in a way that makes sense for your brain. But if the design decisions make it difficult for others to use, I probably need to rethink my approach. I feel like being so limited with space, concessions need to be made. More feedback and play testing before submitting would be helpful too. Thanks again for the kind words!
Love the concept and the infernal prices/rewards, lots of good reasons a party might end up here. Seems like there is a missing piece on how the auctions resolve, I wouldn't feel confident running it as is. Love the design of it though, the vibes are a high point
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, the GM definitely needs to do some work to make this playable - but I envisioned it as more of a toolkit than an adventure module. Hoping I included enough tools to provide a good foundation for an adventure :)
Killer idea and execution. Perfect balance of horror/comedy for me with the opportunity to drive a party into some deceptively maddening decision making. Would be so much fun to playthrough in the middle of a campaign especially when the party is desperate for some powerful magic.
Thanks for review! Was thinking it would be a fun (and weird) experience when the players make a devil's bargain. Hopefully it can hook in easily to an ongoing campaign!
I love this idea! All it is lacking is a mechanic to determine what the bidders are planning to put their money on. The potential backstabbing and intrigue is limitless!
Thanks for the feedback! I was actually trying to connect the NPCs to the items but maybe was too subtle about it. The wax bride is looking for love and would likely bid on the date. The Offal King wants to satiate his hunger with a devilled egg. The unlucky guy would want something that gives him a second chance. Probably would serve me better to be more explicit about it, but when space is at a premium I tried this approach. Thanks again for the review :)
Really fun to read and just hang out with for a little bit. A cool concept brought together really well - the writing is really punchy, the art is great, and all the little visual touches in the presentation really make it sing.
What can I say? Im a sucker for a trifold.
Fun auction mechanics for hell. Gonna throw this at my open table players when they eventually go to hell hehe.
I love everything about this. Mischief! Mayhem! Evocative NPCs and prices that I can't help but want to pay because surely it will be worth it when I win my bid on the first try! Nothing bad will happen to make my life a little harder, surely.
I love this! Snappy and evocative writing and a fun premise.
This is how you do system agnostic well! A wonderful central conceit with great writing and layout/art. I'll use this for sure, it would be shame not to.
A nice, high-stakes one-shot. Not easy to use, but of your players are desperate enough, this pamphlet is for you.
This is just a trifold of absolute fun, isn’t it? And, given the right player character predicament, I will be bringing them to this auction.
Some favorite things:
“Don’t ask how I procured the mayo.”
A very neat and weird little concept, I like it.
