Liminal Horror <3

This is an outstanding piece of work, missing non of the charm of LH and making good use of formulaic constraints. To be studied. One of the topz

I did a double take when I saw that it was written by J. Domanski himself. I can't compete with that! A sick scenario nonetheless with a dope cover and clean, readable layout. Apartment complex? I find it rather simple!

Phenomenally well done! The apartment maps look like they were photocopied straight from the back of a hotel door’s emergency diagram, and the writing is superb. I, no, all of us, I think, have lived in this apartment complex. With these living spaces. Alongside these other people on our floor. Like, the quintessential urban apartment living experience, distilled into 4 pages, with some horrors added on top. Really fantastic!

Excellent writing and layout. Adventures like these are slowely convincing me I should give liminal horror a try. You've also won the prize for worst-decorated-bathroom, congratulations!

The cover is seriously badass. As others have mention, the apartment’s floor plan brings an interesting level of uncannyness and so many questions. I can already hear my players asking why the bathroom floats between the kitchen and the dining room :D

I like the scenario a lot, it feels like it is straight out of the pages of a horror pulp. I really enjoy the cast of characters and the premise.

I had to look up Fallout in the LH srd to get a grasp on how the submission will play - am I right that Fallout only occurs when a Dark One deals critical damage AND the character fails a save? That may not happen, right? I may be mistaken, but I might consider having the infection spread via some other mechanic as the scenario may end quite quicky or have two random other apartment inhabitants also be infected at the game's start. I might also consider differentiating each Dark One to avoid some sameiness in the encounters. I say all this because I really want to run this scenario and need to figure it out! I really do like it.

The Fallout for this particular creature is a little different than typical. Under normal circumstances you have to take Stress damage to your CTRL stat to take Fallout, but in this case it's passing like a pathogen through physical damage. So any time the Investigator takes physical damage from the Dark One, they're at risk of both a Wound and Fallout instead of one or the other. The chance of Fallout triggering is a bit tipped in the players' favor, but that's because taking Fallout here can mean having your character ripped from your control much earlier than they otherwise would be under normal circumstances, so there needed to be a bit of a balancing act so that you don't have a player left twiddling their thumbs 10 minutes into the session.

As for the behavior of the Dark One, that was a bit limited by space. But the implication from the Tactics section is that they're going to try and escape the room and then try and infect the rest of the floor. NPCs don't need to follow the same mechanics on spreading Fallout as the Investigators, so you can just convert them if the Dark One is reasonably able to get their hands on them. The Dark Ones should then be differentiated from each other by taking on aspects of the personality and behaviors of those they've infected.

Thank you for explaining. I had a feeling I had something wrong. Yes, PC possession should be a more difficult thing to achieve and I think I had conflated NPC infection with the PC's fallout. NPC possession seems important to the scenario to me. I was also considering have parts of the black needle spreading out and hiding in the various apartments to make destroying it a little trickier and forcing the players to expore more of the building. I really do like the scenario.

My only complaint, and this is an unfair ask, is that there isn't an image of the Black Needle. Your description of it is so great, I'm just a visual person and would love to see an artist's rendering.

Nice submission to the jam. I haven't played Liminal Horror yet, but now I want to!

Easily my 2nd favorite short-form LH module now - and that's only because it's impossible to dethrone The Chair for the #1 spot. Packs a lot into a small space - great layout, clear writing. Obvious that grinding out all the maps in the LH Deluxe Edition has honed Josh's ability to make small legible maps to a razor's edge.  Can't wait to torture my friends- I mean, play this totally normal and wholesome adventure with my friends.

The floorplan of Apt 1302 is kind of insane but that uncanny element could further unsettle the players so I’m calling it a plus. Starting in media res is badass! Love this simple layout, and the art is excellent!

Funny thing is, I pulled the base for the apartment from a real floor plan I found that was even weirder, so I modified and added a couple rooms so that it made a little more sense.

The premise is so immediately electric, and the writing is so easily gameable. I couldn't help but imagining running this as I read it. Can't wait to bring this to the table!

What a fantastic cover and use of color! I like the way you have used the title as inspiration for something very creepy in this adventure. Clear explanation of what is happening makes it easy to run quickly at the table. Great layout and explanation of locations and I building layout maps. Awesome job! 🏙️
